Imagine a 2 hour long fashion show with one person in the audience, and one person modeling. It really didn't go beyond me walking down the strip, pose, walk back, and repeat. After awhile with that, he said to dance a little bit with him, and was that. He asked if I had another avie, which I said yes to, and then we went back to step one.

About when it will be shown, I have no idea. From what was posted by Hamlet, it looks like somewhere in Feburary on a MTV video game show.

Doesn't sound too ... exciting. Thanks for the description. Did you at least get some type of compensation, other than a chance at 15 minutes of fame?

Speaking of descriptions, I just looked at your profile, and your avatar (at least the one pictured there) doesn't .. exactly ... look human ... at all!!!

Did you submit a different (more human) avatar for MTV to consider?

Oh, and did they give you any idea what they liked about your submission?

Replies to the e-mails would've been nice. Not that I was waiting on pins and needles, but I realized I sent him some e-mail soon after the announcement, and got absolutely no acknowlegement. Or was his strategy to just start watching for his favorites on SL and wait for them to log in when he was on?

Oh well.

My feelings as well. I'm still wondering what criteria they used regarding who got chosen. I mean, was my entry way off the mark for some reason, or did it almost get in, or what. Just curious.

By the way, Tren, did you get any compensation for it, except for your 15 minutes (or 15 seconds) of fame?

Speaking of that, has being on MTV's show affected you in any way in SL? Do people recognize you? Just wondering if you feel the whole thing was worth it to you.

Nah, we didn't get anything. Got to be in a Linden run group for about an hour though, till Glitchy booted us out.

Was fun I did all my scoopf animations. My card trick and my this isnt my real hair line. Doubt it will have sound though besides music. But I had fun just wish they'd hurry up an air it suposed to be the middle of this month now last I heard.On the MTV website not on TV like I originaly thought. But at least it will be easier to show people that way and wont have to try to catch it when it goes by on TV. I posted some shots of the set they had on SLuniverse snapzilla back in january. I was in the group 24 hours and snuck back on the set in the middle of the night.

Sorry for necro-posting but, I had to wait til the show was finaly out on mtv website to comment...
Since people wanted to know what finaly happened, well here:
Whole story.
(((PLEASE NOTE: There might be a lot of typos here, I am a bit out of control. Heeh!!)))

So I saw this post, and got very excited. I sent as many cool avatars as possible to them.
I got a reply to my email right away, and I was even more excited since most of the people that I knew who sent a email didn't even get a word back.

What I got was something like "we literally love all your avatars and look forward to work with you, will will shoot as many as possible!". I was in heaven.

So... I get to meet Glitchy, a nice guy. He gets super excited and stuff and tells me how he digs my style and personality, and how everyone at MTV loved my outfits. He asks me to shoot as many avies as possible, so I start getting them out. 1st, each time I was pulling one out, he kept saying "oh no, let's do another one, gimme a sexy girl"...
I was a bit surprised, but heck, I gave cute and sexy, it's MTV after all...
So I walked to runway, showing my thing, my graffiti spray paint can, stuff, I danced, made some anims, etc etc etc. Fine.

He said how much I was different and cool from the Torrids and Aimees (nothing bad, just that I was more funky yknow) and that he'd even love to interview me on the PHONE.
He invitedme to stay over and watch a few more people get filmed. Was cool, I felt special.
Altho I love what Aimee and Torrid make, I was excited I would get a bit more footage then them, I mean, they are sooo well known already, time for fresh meat, no?

So anyways, a few days go by and I get an IM we have to redo it all. Said they changed the set to look more cool. I was a bit disapointed, but why not. Went back, to realize what had changed: they added some ugly/laggy particles and *that's it*. Again, a deception but I was so much craving for fame, I didn't care and did my thing once again. Walked down the runway, got my ass slapped by the dude, danced, everything. We talked more, he said again how much everybody loved the way I looked and how it was special that I would get 5 avatars in there and etc etc, plus a very possible follow-up/interview to know me more.

Weeks passed. I hanged with Glitchy a few times because he was nice and all. Didn't wanna bother him too much about MTV. But then I got a little impatient to know when the show would be on, I mean we had literally no news at all. Nada.

So tonight I IMed him.
He said: Did you see the show, it was on today. Sorry we couldn't have everyone.

SLAP and SLAP. That hurt.

1st of all I was not even informed it would go out today, at all.
2nd of all, harsh way to learn I was cut off.

How come? HOW THE FREAKING COOOOOOOOOME?!!?!?!
I can understand it was only 3:30mins, and blahblahblah... BUT
With ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL he said to me, this is literally a joke. Basically, I went there, spent more then 2 hours getting filmed, had to go back and do it again, got my head filled with false informations and hopes, and bye bye elka! NO COMPENSATION, NOTHING.
The lamiest joke ever.

And guess who is in the dayum thing? Aimee. Canimal. Yadni.
3 people that I respect a lot, yes. But we see them everywhere, they didn't need coverage.

Anyways, I am not blaming Glitchy and the other people I named above. Nope.
But I am blaming MTV for taking this so lightly and thinking we are fuckin' robots or something... I am a human being behind that computer and do NOT ask me to not take it personal... It is really impossible in that case. I got my head FILLED and FILLED. Like saying how I should show my ass and stuff because they weren't interested into mechas, and what do you see in the vid? A mecha. HI5!! X_X

Its possible the final selection was made by other persons, htere is usually a lot of persons to please in a TV channel

Well i say it again that suck, Mtv are just a bunch of hypocrits and you wherent deserving this.

Get a paper of what they want and what they (maybe) will give yo..

At that paper state that you shall see it al before publishing.. and when it will be published and how often to! And if it wil be used later 5-10 years later...or you will end up with a story that you dont feel ok with...

Prob if you want that and tell them they wil poff disapear... suddenly.. wonder why..

Yes sorry I am negative - when it come to the kind of people I mention above.. Al are not like that but the ones that are not are so few so few...

elka, I'm really sorry that you weren't in the video, especially after all you were told and participated in. I wasn't in the video along with others I know of that participated either. I can understand your wanting some fresh faces to get attention. Believe it or not though people may know of me in SL, I don't get much attention in the media lol. More than being disappointed that I ended up on the cutting room floor, I'm disappointed that they didn't inform folks that might be a possibility. From the way it was portrayed it was to be something with as many "wild" avatars as possible and not just 4 people. Something else that bugged me is that Canimal just seemed to get attention for having a "punky" avatar with a nice bum and nothing about her designs. I may be wrong and just missed that part. Congrats to those who were in the video though, it turned out nice.

hey yeah i know uh they kept saying "more more more more funky avatars!!" and it sounded like a real fashion show thing, and just as you said, nobody informed anyone about anything... it was lame...

thanks for caring guys, i mean i will survive, i can't let this shit bring me down, but i had to come and inform the public this was a piece of crap, basically LAUGHED in my face, for more then FIVE HOURS of work i gave to them. too bad!! he just kept saying over and over again that i would do well, that at this point there was no way i'd get cut, and how he would like to make a follow-up with me (even mentionned RL O.o) etc... i mean i am not a 12 yo immature kid, believe it or not haha, the reasons why i care are real and funded...

and yeah about Canimal, she is actually wearing a Fallingwater necklace and a Nylon jacket, (they don't get credits for that ah) and say how her ass is good, when she is actually an achieved designer and that *could* have been it... too bad

I'm sorry to hear your experiences at the hands of MTV were so bad Elka. Unfortunately it seems to be the nature of the publicity machine to chew people up like that

Does anyone know anywhere this programme can be watched from? Or have a copy stashed away (PM me)? MTV added it Overdrive which isn't available to those of us trying to watch from the UK - and after all the hype I'd love to see the final result
