My avatar shape is very, very short. She is also thin, with a small chest and small rear. I've been asked several times why I am so short, and why I don't make my chest bigger. My normal answer is..."because i LIKE my avatar, thank you very much." lol.
I have several different skins I use. My favorite, and the one I am currently using, is a very dark tan, with "guilded" gold/bronze makeup. Some of my other skins include a light skinned goth with running maskara, a sidhe faerie, a purple water elemntal, a glittered leopard, and some others, including a tiny monster cthulhu. I definitly do NOT go with the "barbie" av.
On of my friends, Elle74, has a body shape that is different also. She has a rather large chest and rear, and I think she looks great. As a joke, she gave me her body shape and I ran around as her for awhile, it was hilarious. I felt so strange...lol

I've always had a thing for classy broads, so I'm not really all that impressed by the vast majority of the trampiness that goes marching about SL. I'm always impressed by female avatars that are wearing elegant yet concealing clothing.

Honestly, ladies: in a place where you could be wearing elegant evening dresses and other tasteful and thus alluring gear, why the hell wouldn't you?

Cause prim dresses are a pain in the butt?

Hmm.

Actually another trend going on is the very tall, very curvy woman. T&A baby. Clubs give you the very tall, very thin avs and then the very tall, very curvy avs. I'm a bit different as I am fairly short for an av. I also don't have a tan, as I'm a redhead and I hate the avs running around with red hair and very very tan skin. Eh, just kinda freaks me out a bit.

My biggest pet peeve is the people that don't tweak their face AT ALL. They just stick with whatever their av was born with. Then they buy a skin and slap it on, so all these people are running around with the same face.

I've seen Stymied on a number of occasions (*waves wildly at Stymied) and she is awesomely beautiful :) And I've seen her with her purple skin on (I don't know which one it is, sorry :( )

...Speaking of which, what do ladies you like in a male av?....
Their absence.

:p

Seriously though, I find a lot of male AV's "scary" and I will actually leave the area if they are around.

I am not personally attracted to men, but my male friends, and the males I will talk to in the game are the more "normal" looking guys. From converstations with some of my straight(er) female friends, I think those guys that look like "Conan the Barbarian" are likely attracting other Conan's more often than they are "the Ladies."

Amen! Most of the guy avs in the game freak me out. As far as skin makers go, theres not much options outside of "dark, brooding lord of the undead," and "huge overmuscled goon guy." Im proud of my slidered av, and I enjoy seeing people who have taken time and effort to make their look unique, if not the ideal vision of beauty.

As to the male avs - there DOES seem to be an over abundance of Male avs that look too heavily Muscled.

Makes you wonder if the guys are from SL or the NFL

I'd like to think my av is not the average "barbie". I made her 5'6", small chested, slightly curved hips and a small bum. Yes, my arms are a bit skinny as are my legs but I'm happy with it. If I like what I see on my screen I guess it shouldn't really matter what other people think of it.

A lot of people think my AV is female (that was not my intention). A pretty boy, yes. But not pretty like that hot blonde chick with the bows and arrows in Lord of the Rings.

If the boob sliders are above 80, the RL AV is male. ;-)

I don't like the typical barbies as far as looks go. My favorites are the ones that stand out. Attractive female AVs I'm not married to that immediately come to mind: Ingrid (gee, who started this thread?), Nethermind, Victoria Moonflower, Surreal, Wench and Fey Brightwillow. All very attractive AVs, but I think they're made attractive 90% by the minds behind them, and none of them are in the "barbie" mold.

So if you do like girls, and you don't like guys, what do you do about guys who are girls?
Or girls who are guys. Since I am a male and thus am better off absent, I wondered how IRL lesbians deal with an environment where like as not half the women are guys in disguise?

Und speaking of *pomping up* - the only thing I don't care for with female avies is when the breast slider is cranked way up, especially when you start seeing that polygonal effect. There's something sort of creepy about that.

quote 'There's nothing wrong with people owning a barbie look or whatever. What I find disturbing is the stigma directed to those people who choose to look that way.'end quote

Ahh I couldn't agree more. Once again a vast majority of 'openminded' people here have decided to bewstow on others their interpretation of brains, creativity and good taste. And woe to U if U fail to 'measure up'.

I guess we often judge a book by it's cover in RL but now that we have avatars to represent ourselves in here it was just a matter of time for that judging to become a reality on-line as well.

I am in no way ashamed to say I have what I believe is a pretty AV. I often like to wear mini skirts and high heels, maybe cuz all I wear in RL day in and day out are T-shirts and shorts or sweats....booooring. My tits don't sag as much as they do in RL, sue me. My hair is actually 'styled' in SL unlike in RL, and make-up hah...I rarely have the time. So yep I'm gonna be a Baribie if I wanna, even tho that term seems to be an insult in some way.

I am also a Purple Bunny or a Dragon on occasion. What does that tell U about ME? Not a whole hell of a lot. Talking to me and seeing how I interect w/ others will be much more telling.

Well maybe the vast majority of people here are voting for "slightly flawed" or "different" but that's because I asked for opinions. I can't seem to find a post in the thread where anyone mentioned someone didn't "measure up". As I said, I'm not objecting to anyone's avatar, I just wanted to find out what other people found attractive or interesting.

My alt. is a muscle bound tall AV and he always gets IMs from females when out in public.

You alt's AV has better genes, that's why :)

I don't like barbie dolls, my favorite female AV are the shorter ones, those with more real proportions. And normal boobs too, (in fact they have no influence, I'm some sort of freak who don't look at women' breast even IRL).

My avie is modeled on myself, as I looked about oh... 17 years ago. (grin) Beyond that, I really haven't given it much thought.

It is a scientific fact that short (in SL this means: under 6 feet) and curvy is cute, while 7 feet tall and 48-12-48 is WEIRD. Have a thick body, not a thick mind.

Guys, being 7 feet tall, more muscled than god, tanned like an apple pie, and covered in goth tattoos is gross and ((whispers)) make you look gay. Please stop. Unless you are gay in which case you look fabulous.

I call the look of Breasts extremely large with Zero Teardrop effect -combined with very very long legs, and crazy height - Body By matel.

You make can the larger breast sizes look fairly natural , if you seperate them and make it look like they dont defy gravity.

In the shapes I sell I have the whole range of figure sizes from quite petite to an intentionaly exagerated figure, so I experimented quite a bit. I dont think the total breast size number BY ITSELF is the only contribiuting factor to making breasts look like Glued on basketballs.

I agree with Colette.
Her body's are always very finely done.

I also hate that polygonal effect and the vast stretching of textures on the breasts when they get big, but that is the Lindens fault for not considering the average breast size of the average women when they designed the avatar in the first place.

It's basically impossible to go over a B cup without getting large amounts of distorition IMO. That means at least half of all "normal" women get some form of distorted breasts in SL.

hehe.. Well... :p

I tend to like all kinds of avatars. From the realistic all the way to the very bizzare. I also don't seem to judge a person based on their avatar look. I could find a fuzzy cat as neat looking as an avatar that could pass for a RL model. And I tend to find unique things in all avatars, even the ones that look "cookie cutter".

As for Pen.. She is almost as barbie like as I can get her. haha.. :D She is 7'4".. super thin, Small waist, small butt (though she *does* have one), and *huge* bonkers! Her head is kinda roundish, and her hair short. She does remind me of my barbies from childhood (at least the ones who's hair I chopped and colored black). I think I describe her pretty well. I'll attach some pictures for those who haven't seen me. Plus I'm jonesing for SL and this is a way for me to get to see Pen. :o

But maybe my opinion of a "barbie" avatar is different from others? I've heard the avatars that model in some of the great magazines in SL reffered to as "barbies" by some and to me they don't look a thing like Barbie. *shrug*
