Sure, every action/cause has its consequence(s)/effect and I agree with you on that point, but shouldn't the consequence fit the action; it's kinda like the argument of having punishment fit the crime (not implying that there was a crime committed here or anything). To elaborate on this, Pandastrong did not like the "For Sale" signs all around his property, so he neg rated and gave an explanation as to why he neg rated. The effect of Pandastrong neg rating on her: not much. a small blemish on her profile. The woman who was neg rated did not like the neg ratings, so what did she do? She banned Pandastrong from her land. The effect of her actions on Pandastrong: much greater. Now he has difficulty getting to his land and has to live with the "For Sale" signs. If anyone needs me to clarify my argument further, please let me know.

At least it will be harder to see the For Sale signs through the hiddeous red bars...

The neg rating given here to Anshe was justifyable. Those signs are abundant and annoying when they litter about in very close areas. The returned neg rating was just petty and with a motive of only revenge. They were not returned because Pandastrong had an ugly avatar, build, or was being a griefer. It was just immature retaliation. And add onto that the land ban, that's just getting vengeful.

Panda, I'm sorry this happened to you.

Personally I'd *ask* a Linden to see if it is indeed a TOS violation - then if it is maybe you can work it out without a report.

If it goes further than that, and if it is indeed a TOS violation, report away.

I seem to remember someone on the forums mentioning how they were waiting a few months back for land in Cortina to be auctioned. Anyone remember who it was? Too late now, of course...

It would be nice if you wouldn't use a blanket statement like that Lisse. As I recall I was in favor of your idea and told in a post on these forums that I would help in any way I can, an offer that you never took up. I never heard from you.

Back when I was a noob I had a rude neighbor who owned land on 3 sides of me and put me on his ban list. I asked a Linden and was informed that, indeed, if someone obstructs your access to your land by the majority of the border of your land, be it ban or walls, it is a TOS offense.

I reported abuse.

A few days later the neighbor had moved out.

I encourage you to report this as land obstruction abuse.

Anshe, please stop complaining when people negative rate you because you make all the land around them what they consider ugly. You are free to neg rate them back, but violating the TOS in retaliation is juvenile.

Yes Lisse, you have a good memory. I feel a little bitter about that piece of land since it has been up for auction 3 times, and people defaulted twice and I missed the last auction. Then Fungshue waited her max 7 days to pick up the land. Anyway I shall wait and see who buys it next. It won't be me.

That would be me. I find it rather frustrating that land can be auctioned off, and yes land that I'm interested in and TWICE, the people don't pick up the land. No not Anshe. People I have never heard of. I sure hope the Lindens got their 20% restocking charge. And then I forgot to check the auction boards for 2 evenings and lost my chance. Oh well.

I don't particularly like land speculators style of game play but I respect their right to do it. I have more of an issue of the way Lindens set up the rules. I'm thinking in particular, if you buy auction land and don't claim it, forget the 20% restocking charge, they should pay the full auction fee.

I feel that this is not a personal matter.

There is no talking to this person. I tried reporting abuse.. and told that there was none. It is one person repeatedly playing within the rules to grief. Obviously a large portion of the community takes issue with this.

What form of protest or recourse is appropriate? When one person controls a majority of a particular resource, what can the average player do? I am selling my land for L$3 because of this "legal griefing".

Could you pose another solution?

The entire situation - gave them a link to this thread and gave them the quick and dirty about it - and I was told that unfortunately, land owners use the land ban tool inappropriately. And I was told that the best thing to do would be to address it in the forums.

Don't get me wrong - the Linden was nice and sympathetic. Just a flawed system I guess?
