Well, as a long time Don of the Valentino mafia..

There are some great folks in our family. We don't take ourselves overly serious, we have some good events, good meetings, and keep up to date on what the other SL mafias are up to. We don't break the TOS (as far as the Lindens know) and don't grief. In fact, we don't do much that any other group might do, other than call ourselves a mafia, and extortion, protection, gambling and pornography rackets.

It's pretty much like any other roleplaying scenerio, be it medieval, furry, aliens, time travelers, etc.

Admittedly, there are some that take themselves waaaay too seriously, and there are some real asswipes, but for the most part, it's just fun to play at.

Online worlds make a very logical and perfect place to indulge in fantasy-type activities.

One of the best events I ever went to in SL was a mafia sponsered event (The Baddest Babe in SL). It was funny, witty, and ended in a huge shootout.

On the other hand, of course there are gonna be dickweeds that actually start to believe they wield real power, or need the ego boost of being called boss, etc, but that can be said for just about any activity.

Yeah David that sounds pretty cool and all. At least you guys don't go around punking people you don't even know just so they could start stuff with you. That's what really pisses me off, even more when I see it happening to someone else. X pushes Y and wants Y to do something so X can call W, Z, A & B. Then Y does something back because the rest of the people around are pushing Y around and they all take screenies of what Y did and turn him in. That's exactly what happened to me (me being Y in that situation).

I've seen Stacy Maracas around for quite some time, although I have never really talked to her much; however, I can understand why she would take her "familia's" word over mine judging by the three negative ratings she gave me that night. Although I don't really care if I have 1 negative rating or 100 negative ratings, I just wish she could understand that I was goaded and provoked in that situation.
Don't get me wrong, I can role-play and all that, but the fact that I was the target having to find out the hard way was just a childish act.

Honey, I've known you for god knows how long? Ages it seems. I was a bit hurt that you took this too seriously and to put a old friend over something so petty is just sad. I just thought I'd share my little story with everyone else in the forums. Even a few of my older friends where quit shocked to hear what happened, especially to me lol.

The drama will fade away, I just don't like the fact that others will be put in the same situation and get treated like that. That's what I'm upset about.

I look, I'd like to think, like a normal person. I am tall IRL and so is my AV.

I carry a device called a Greifer-B-Gone. It seems to work on quite a few sheild scripts can will ghost an AV while sending them a fair distance. I keep this armed most of the time in case some wannabe Mafia/Pimp/Greifer freak wants a peice. I have a "Don't start, just finish" policy. I"m also a bit of a sadistic ahole and, in Eddies shoes. I would have just sat there laughing at them until I got bored while they wasted time pounding on me and calling for help.

TSO mafias? We don't have a LOL emote offensive enough for my thoughts on that.

Perhaps we could fundraise for them to go back to Alphaville.

FIRST OF ALL! I should have read this earlier! Number one!! For those of you that KNOW me, and im really disgusted at some of u who do and actually posted here and NOT in my defense, I am not too friggin cheap to OWN a sim! This was an offer that was brought to me by someone else to rent a sim, I went with it and within a week of the sim being dropped that bastard left the game withouth any notification to anyone and left me HANGIN with a sim, SCHWANSON was good enuff to let me keep the sim and rent it. So for the smart mouth that has NO CLUE what he is talking about u can shut it now.

Second, when Eddie landed on MY SIM, as Billy so eloquently put it I pay for the damn thing its MINE, when Eddie landed on my sim, his STORY about innocently wanting to look around or see a friend is crap, he and a friend of his came to my sim and dropped LAG nukes on it. For what reason I have NO clue, then he proceeded to SIT on the ground and talk MAD CRAP to everyone around him, so him name throwing how he is buddy buddy with other people, and a total victim is a JOKE.

After this incident Cristiano a friend of mine talked to me, said it simply wasnt like him to do this, well I dont know the guy, all I know is i have pictures and chats of him puttin the nukes on my land and obviously Lindens agreed as he is banned for a period of time from what i hear. I dont play this game to BULLY people, and i have NEVER set anything harmful on someone land just to be nasty!

If Eddie was shot for no reason he never once said that as he was too busy, being a jerk and runninh his mouth! For those that DO know me I will give anyone a chance to talk to me like a human being, but if ure not going to Im not going to bother to listen.

As far as the mafia thing, and Shiryu's lovely comment, You will not see the word MAFIA anywhere in my family name. I have exactly what it is A FAMILY, a group of people that have come together in this game to build things, create things, and be a close unit to teach each other things, and make a business empire. YOU want to tag that as a mafia, that is YOUR perogative. BUT until u actually take 5 minutes to KNOW somebody, DONT bash on them, thats the problem in the damn game, and in any online game, everyone takes ONE persons word for it and assumes it to be the truth simply because that person SAID it to be, GEEZ, GROW UP!

I hope u all have actually read my words and listen to them like u listened to the other crap in this thread, if not well your loss at not knowing a nice person as that is what I am, but DO NOT make accusations or bash other people because someone SAID that happened to them, GUESS WHAT not everyone tells the truth. Id like to know where Eddies proof is that happened to him that way, I know I have MY proof of what he did to MY LAND. SO where is his bashing for what he did? Eddie, had you been victimized I would have been the FIRST person to apologize to you. Almost EVERYDAY some jerk comes to my sim acting liek they are too cool for pants, so I del with alot, and honestly 99 percent of the time handle them like an ADULT. Not bad for a MAFIA wannabee chick who can only afford to RENT a sim huh?

I was pretty rash in my previous thread, so Im going to speak calmly now. There are many people out there who know HOW I am, and they know that I play this game consistently, just like anyone else I have fun here, and I want to make money here. The younger adults on this game, I treat like my own kids, if they are wrnog im the first person to tell them they are. If some jackass comes around acting like himself, a jackass, whether I know that person or not I WILL tell them what they are acting like.

It really saddens me that 8- percent of the people on this thread have NO CLUE who I am nor have never met me in game, yet will bash on me, or someone else simply by what someone else says. I have been around for a while now on here, and I see the same thing you people see, BUT, it dont matter to me what others say about someone, if they havent harrassed me I wont harass them.

My post was absolutely generic, about people that get so proud of being part of a "mafia" or of mocking a mafia (in fact there is absolutely no hint to you in my post). and it's exactly the same i told you when i fist met you, so i really don't see what you get so angry about. UMMM...Eddie...mang....your plight is almost identical to my drama with the Jensen family.
I am at a club like for hours one day like a week ago...the club is bombed and my av is sent sailing to the edge of a sim. I snaked out the bomber and IMed...i dont know the guy but we chatted and i giggled over his choice of action and well so did he...he was also curious if i was gonna report him..which i wasnt...and really he wasnt a bad dude...anyhoo...i then decided to look for another place on the map to hang. Like Eddie I will look on the map if I dont like the events listed to go to, to find a place to explore. I saw that Heaven sim was full of ppl...I had never been there. I went...just like you Eddie, as soon as I entered the sim I was met by thugs with guns. I am unarmed. Just like they asked you to state your business, same question was posed to me....Im like...ummm I dont have any. So they tell me to leave....Im like...ok..but wtf have I done? Then in the crowd of ppl I hear one of them say...OH She is Cartel....they begin to debate amongst themselves who I am and if I am some spy and they then say that i was cohorts with the bomber of the club. Well that was best giggle I had all day...because wooot...I always wanted to be an undercover brother...spy....bond, like keep it on the down low, character. But I would hope to be a bit more clever than to use the jolene jade av.
So they shoot me...and I am unarmed...im push to edge of sim....okies...now im really curious about whats going on there....and why disappoint those that have honored me by their disillusion of me being some grunt sent to infiltrate their clandestine operation and gain power thru knowledge...of some sorts...still not real sure if I really procured anything that my intelligence dept would consider viable and useful information...LMAO...anyhoo....so i gotta stay and check out all the hoopla. I shield my self...and also...turn invisible for abit....i fly back into the area where everyone is gathered and listen to some conversation that really was nothing but squabble. I then realize I had walked into a meeting of the Mafia familys...three different families to be specific....and appartently is was a private meeting. well... someone snakes me out...sees thru my invisible wall. The owner of the sims then shouts....I SEE YOU JOLENE.....

I will tell you why...its a big power trip....and the purpose of letting in unsuspecting curious ppl is too give them the opportunity to really live the Mafioso life by harrassment and then griefing along with verbal abuse...because after all...if permissions were set then there would be no fun and they couldnt shoot and grief the "outsider" for shits n giggles. well anyhoo...the sim owner must have thought i was doddle'n and ejects me...but i only go to edge of sim....moments later here come the thugs and maybe they were mad because their weapons just wasnt getting rid of me....so sim owner bans me and i am teleported home. I did IM the sim owner...I inquired for the offical record as to what exactly I had done to deserve all that hostile treatment and then griefed and then banned. I never recieved a definative answer...more or less..."because I can"...kinda answer.
I am not upset...it was actually more fun than I had in weeks....and i didnt ask for a conflict with any of the mafia families....they took astance to oppose me...and none of them even know me....i know this post was long...but because Eddies encounter is so similar to mine I thought it necessary to share this with anyone taking the time to read it....so you can be in "the know"....it seems that what happened to me was not an isolated incident....and there maybe even some plan of deliberate premeditated actions to create opportunities for malees apon entering these sims....but the unsuspecting will be unarmed. So here is your heads up, and I wanted to support Eddie for his courage and honesty by starting this thread....

Jolene, Costello, say it with me now. C-O-S-T-E-L-L-O. And Now, lemme explain. Jolene came onto my sim, WHICH I OWN AND PAY FOR, and we were tryin stop a conflict between families. When they started shooting, Well for me, I dont want anyone who isnt invloved to get shot, And when I saw just shoes hanging from the sky I was like What the hell. so I went up there to see that she had an invisibitly Prim on, funny! I asked her to leave, which being the SIM owner, I have every right to ask anyone to leave, ask the Linden's. When she did not leave, my family took her as a spy and started shooting, which I say I cant blame them. Then she continued to come back, u think someone would get the hint, but nope, kept coming back. But thats all past...Now with the whole mafia thing, I play mafia for the simple fact that of FAMILY! Our motto is Family First...Mafia Second. Our family always comes before mafia. And most of us arent geeks or dorks, I actually met a lot of these ppl. And find that some of them are rather attractive. But HA, unless u actually play the ROLE, which is what it is ROLE PLAY, then u wont and cant understand what it is to be mafia. SO I will leave it at that.

best thing to do, if you fly into an area where these yahoo's are gettin off on themselves, treat it as what it is, a day care center for the eternally childish, smile politely, nod at the nice mental patient, and move on.
