Public Reply to Anshe Chung

I wanted to respond to Ms. Anshe Chung earlier, but I was so busy, I simply did not have the time. Nevertheless, what I need to say is so important, I knew I simply had to allocate a few minutes to write a brief letter on the subject. Let me preface my discussion by quickly reasserting a familiar theme of my previous letters: Ms. Chung may want to possess the power of god. Then again, I consider her to be a land god herself. An armed revolt against her is morally justified. However, I maintain that it is not yet strategically justified.

Ms. Chung just keeps on saying, "I don't give a [expletive deleted] about you. I just want to own every parcel of land Linden Labs has to offer." Her personal interest in seeing her sentiments shoved down people's throats is deceitful, but that's to be expected of Ms. Chung. Note that we must unmistakably take steps against the whole nutty brotherhood of jaded twaddlers of one sort or another. Does that sound extremist? Is it too resentful for you? I'm sorry if it seems that way, but that's life. Some out-of-touch dorks have raised objections to my publicity stunts, but their objections are all politically motivated. Ms. Chung should work with us, not step in at the eleventh hour and hog all the glory. And that's it. Ms. Anshe Chung can be so unforgiving, it would take your breath away.

I'm glad you allocated time to this...it made my day so much better and my second life is now complete. Also as Shadow lets us know from time to time...."we're all gods....says so on the debug menu.

Did anyone actualy notice...
- That Anshe hasn't made any forum posts in the last few days that anyone might consider inflamitory? (Most recent ones are a coupple of advertisements and responses to people looking to buy and sell stuff.)
- That Eddie here appears to be a very infrequent poster (unless his past posts have been deleted) and that none of the three other posts he's made have anything even remotely to do with Anshe, economics, land buying/selling or such related topics? Yet he talks of "previous letters" that don't seem to exist. If they're off-site, like in a personal blog, he has not provided links.
- That he didn't mention any specific reason for wanting to post such a "reply"?
- That it follows from the above points that Eddie's post is a blatent flame with no valid reason to exist?

*Please* don't feed the troll, folks, regardless of how the subject matter appears to please some of you (and if it does please you, it shouldn't be taken as a compliment.)

I'd just like to take this opportunity to tell folks about my shop "terrapin station". It has bongs

"Eddie Vogel".... hmmm....

I remember an incident at beginning of August with a character of similar name. And, yes, I think that must be this account. It was the time before people attacked me on forums, when my profile did not have neg rating and when people did not talk bad about me. It also was the day the new First Land feature was patched in.

I was IMed and asked if I want to buy some cheap land. It turned out that Mr. Vogel was using an exploit that allowed him to buy up unlimited amount of First Land. He sold some of that land to a friend of mine before and now he wanted to sell to me.

Well, I could easily have joined in and make some profit with him. But this is against my business ethics, so I asked him to report this bug/exploit. He refused, so I called a liason. The liason arrived and asked him to stop using exploit. Mr Vogel was even defiant to the liason and logged out. So I was left filing bug report. The liason also took care, but I don't know what Linden Lab did with Mr Vogel.

The following days negative rumor popped up all over. People IM me and ask me if I screw newbies, if I talk newbie into selling me land for 1 L$ per sqm and so on. Three day later hell break loose on forum and many angry people flame me for my "bad business practise". Mass neg rating follow. I am taken by complete surprise.

It took several months until I found out that after I stopped his exploiting and prior to me being mobbed on forums Mr. Vogel went to shopping malls and told people many lovely fairy tale stories about how Anshe Chung screws people. The person who started the first and famous thread that turned into big Anshe Chung witch hunt finally told me that it was Mr. Vogel from whom she learned how I supposedly buy land from newbies for 1 L$ and sell it for 10 L$.

So now you know something about what happened the week in early August when Anshe Chung's reputation was destroyed. It started with an exploiter called "Vogel" who got piss off because I did not want to join his exploiting. He planted negative rumor and spread stories about my "business practise" that never happened. There were at least three accounts used for this purpose. Some people believed and spread it further. Some people became upset and it became "common wisdom" that Anshe Chung screw over people, use "bad business practise" and is generally evil.

I reported all this to Linden Lab. Unfortunately I was told that customer support is not responsible for enforcing truth in Second Life. So people can continue to go to shopping malls, with main account or alt account, and tell people how Anshe Chung eats little babies.

If someone was blatantly doing something this reprehensible on a large scale, I would have saved the chat logs and addressed the issue ... in August.

We need a player to player whine forum buried really deep somewhere.

You are right Hiro. Unfortunately it was not until more than two months later that I learned that rumors came from Mr. Vogel. I also was not direct witness to the rumor spreading.

Of course I reported to customer support what I learned once I learned it. But as I said, Linden Lab don't feel responsible for upholding truth in Second Life communication.

I did learn from two other accounts spreading similar rumors at the time, pretending they were newbies screwed by me. Kavai told me and I reported those accounts immediately to customer support. They clearly seemed alt accounts to me and they could have been from Eddie Vogel or another person. I don't know if customer support acted in any way on those accounts.

That Mr Vogel went to malls with his normal account, telling people newbie screwing stories I only learned months later. I still reported it, but as I said, Linden Lab told me they can not police if people tell truth or not.

I wouldn't get too wound up - the posting is an automatic letter written by a funny website, where you just enter someone's name and the program carries on from there. There is another thread full of examples elsewhere in these forums.

I think you're both right. It appears to be a modified version ("I just want to own every parcel of land Linden Labs has to offer." of one of those randomly generated complaint letters. Even though it appears as such, the fact it is here in the general forum coupled with the fact it has been modified to suit some twisted point makes it really pathetic.

I have a gripe Anshe. You said you were "joking" about banning me from nearly half of ross yes yes the half you own. Yet I see I am still banned. oh funny funny I am rolling on the floor I got your humor. LOL Now would you please lift the ban so I can fly directly to my 23k of land in Ross from the teleport.

Selador, I am not bothered by original posting in this thread as it is only revealing about the poster himself.

The interesting things started in August. And the ball of that is still rolling. Once enough people heared Mr Vogel's stories and enough people had repeated them and enough people had heared and repeated that "Anshe Chung use bad business practise" it has become "common wisdom" for many.

I think some people should think about this. And I hope people learn something and remember what happened, before they start choosing another "target".

And the question still remains how Mr. Vogel can be stopped from continuing his mud campaign.
