You may laugh, you may post non-sequiturs and meaningless garble, but Lector, you *know* you are lying away at night in RL, wondering why they didn't pick you...wondering why they give Aimee not one, not two, but THREE WHOLE FEATURED SPOTS on this website.
---

Yeah I wonder too - Aimee?

Waaaaaa they didn't feature me!
And i've asked for over a year to have my pic on the web site!

Waaaaa still no me and my status as FIC is at an all-Time low!

 :(

Now don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Aimee Webber (and not just so she makes me a red sox baseball shirt), after all I own land so she can have fun in SL! I also love my Cubbey Tera Interceptor. I don't know Marcos, but I do know that Ingrid is not Marcos.

But I must say that the Lidens, have, with thier website, focused on the same people. I understand its because they do some very cool and popular stuff, but really, you can see where the FIC rumors have thier genesis. These are the cool kids of SL.

I think a better Idea would be to feature different people every month or so, whether they are designers or socialites, and including them on the website, with a short profile.

I have made my position on the FIC clear in other forums. But really LL does have a featurati issue. I mean Aimee sticking her tongue out at me on the upper right hand corner of the screen is a nice reminder that Big Sister is watching me, but LL should change up the faces from time to time.

Where did you call this yesterday at, Marcos?

Oh just in remarks to friends. I noticed the comments about clubs being in a few peoples' dislikes sections and mentioned that Prok would likely post another thread.

I like the profiles. Ya, I know, some folks might feel it perpetuates the FIC myth, but I think it's nice that people can read comments from actual users. I didn't really understand the reason for posting the 'dislikes', but in reality there are going to be things you don't care for in SL.

I have Prok on ignore... is he resorting to just randomly making shit up?

I mean.. the Featurati?

Come on now, this is a farce.

Coming soon: Pantserati, Beerati, Literati, and OMFGerati.

Aimee provided Philip with sexual relief, which is fair barter and justifiable. So I see no wrong doing whatsoever.

Perhaps you should consider being more "giving" if you would like a spot...

Philip's married...

OK, thanks, Ingrid. I thought I had missed something.

Oh lord, Prok's right again. I don't mind so much that these people (the featurati, techi wiki, FIC, whatever you want to call them) are running the game. All things are like that, with a few people who become famous, successful, and/or known to or in with the bosses. And the bosses become complacent with that, and overlook the very active and successful lives of many, many little people they could just as easily interview.

And I definitely do NOT care for the turned-up noses of some people when it comes to clubs or other forms of entertainment. Particularly when those very same people turning up their noses wouldn't be able to sell very much if it weren't for all those pitiful clods who like clubs and other forms of entertainment, and who may - ESPECIALLY after reading this new intro page - actually come on the game expecting, maybe, to be ENTERTAINED. The irony of it.

But here's what gets me: I see Lindens advertising strongly on the opening page (and the page is really terrific, by the way!) about fun stuff people can do in the game. To then have the featured people putting down that same stuff is a bad editorial decision.

Prok is right again. Now you may get back to your regularly scheduled Prok-bashing, patting of each other on the back, posting of various pictures, and the other things you do when you don't want to see the truth staring you in the face.

P.S. Edited to add: If there is some rotation, as Ingrid thinks, then this overall bad effect will be countered eventually.

I agree with this. But I have a feeling there will be a rotation at some point. There's lots of great new content creators like Nylon Pinkney and Barnsworth Anubis ... Who knows, maybe LL isn't even aware of them.

And I think the socialites have just as much a place in SL and the content people, they should be featured too.

I think the profiles were a monumentally bad idea - either come out the gate with hundreds of them that show at random, or wait until you have that. To take a handful of high profile players and spotlight them was a good idea to whom? How could you not see the bias coming from a mile away? While there is nothing wrong with spotlighting residents, Prokofy is right, it is many of the same people who are often spotlighted. I would not have wanted myself included in this group in the way that it was done. It is nothing against those who were spotlighted, they are all talented and deserving and had no choice in this.

It is the fact that by doing this, it does promote a group of people over others. The marketing site is a big deal - and to once again spotlight people who have been spotlighted in newsletters and advertising campaigns is bound to cause accusations of favoritism.

Take a new designer and spotlight them - take someone who loves to play Tringo (and not just the creator of Tringo), take someone who loves to build in the sandbox, or buy shoes, or someone who just loves to explore. whatever. The point is to reflect the diversity of SL. That would be impressive, on a scale where everyone has a chance of getting to bask in the glow of being on the site. It's a wonderful feeling, but as it is implemented and stands right now, it has the opposite effect.

Yeah - including the "dislikes" seems pretty short-sighted to me. After all, there are some amazing Clubs in SL - and some very talented people who have built and developed them, why showcase a person and include what they personally dislike within SL when you're promoting SL?

Ah, dah!

Lauren has said that these are not the only profiles that will be displayed. They will be rotated from time to time.

I'm not ever going to apologize for being successful in SL. Everything I have is because I've endeavored to be creative, work hard on my creations, and I try to have a good sense of humor and play nice with others.

When it comes to stuff like this LL will always be damned if they do and damned if they don't. There will always be cries of favoritism or bias. There's nothing they could ever do along these lines that wouldn't result in a thread just like this. They don't make the website for existing SL'ers. They make it to pitch SL to people who aren't yet members. If you look for a common thread among the people they chose to profile it would be that they all have very successful in world businesses that pay for their tiers and leave them some profit free and clear. That's a pretty good selling point for SL if you ask me.

And yes, it is true, I have known it all along..Katykiwi is FIC!
I know she was Aimee's FIC minion all along. Someone has to pull Ingrids and Barnes's strings. Perhaps I can save her from the Prokfivik uprising. Call me Jake "Trotsky" Retiveld.

So if there is Aimeeati, then is there Igridati, and Katykiwiati too?

Oh please. I find clubs, even the really well made ones, to be extremely laggy. So I rarely go to them. My reasoning is purely technical.

You're just putting all kinds of words into our mouths. People have all sorts of reasons for disliking one thing or another, so please dont' assume that we're all snobs.
