The reason the person of which you speak was ripped a new one was for failing to distinguish between parody of someone who switches voice for rhetorical purposes (which is playing the "race" card for personal advantage, possibly even worse than playing it out of ignorance) and actual bigotry. And if there's one thing I can't stand, it's intolerance. But the self-righteous, especially those being indignant ostensibly on other people's behalf, are rarely able to see that they are being so and thus begin to see affront everywhere. They also tend to be intransigent in their beliefs. People who act this way are generally though of as "cranks" so they wrap themselves in the flag of opposing oppression of others to hide from themselves that they are actually opposing reaction to them. Prokofy's wish sounded eerily familiar and particularly fascist to me, hence my comment. I found his idea ironic as well, especially when juxtaposed with his penchant for making analogies with respect to Soviet history. Apparently, even though the Soviets killed more people, many for reasons of ethnicity as well, using analogies that refer to Soviet genocidal atrocities doesn't make him a racist in Katy's eyes. In fact, she chose to align herself with him... What a wacky, selectively blinkered reality some of us choose to live in... It seems that Katy feels that my analogy makes me a racist, however. I was asked to explain it by Katy and one other poster, which I did. The other poster accepted that it was an analogy, and thanked me for elucidating. I apologized for being insensitive. Katy never responded, except to ban me from her sim (intransigent indeed!), where I don't go anyway... I admitted that it wasn't a very good analogy, due to the completely understandable sensitivity of those who lost loved ones to the Holocaust. Poor political analogy? Yes. Racism? Absolutely not. It's of note that my post still stands, intact. I guess the mods weren't about to hold Katy's hand as she took the plunge toward absurd, selective interpretation, to "bolster" her argument. As far as the hats go, don't waste your time folks. In the past - I have - too many times, only to find they feed on it. They feel it proves their pseudo-anti-status-quo behavior is justified.
