probably just to pretend there bad :P

Like i mentioned before i don't care if they hired me or not cuz i havent applied. One time i did ask one of the FPD how to become one, but they totally ignored me. You cant NOT HEAR someone whoes standing right next to you after you just posted something. It proves your not AFK So they had no reason they could not answer me. If the sim does get sold off i dont give a crap aslong as someone opens a new hangout for furs.

heee, new hangout, Frost. I wish we could re-populate Dusun and Batak again! Those places were awsome, till all the furries went uberisolationist off in their own private sim. Ohhwell, it's creeping down the pop picks list, slowly but surely. One day....

Crow Luchador's profile invites everyone to read and comment on this thread. Seeing as I've had friendly conversations with him in the past, I'll take him up on his offer.

It has come to my attention from reports I have received throughout the day that Crow Luchador is venting his frustration with my hiring practices (ie. the recent appointment of Aquavixen Yaffle to the FPD) by repeatedly shouting the URL corresponding to this thread throughout the Forest - and through other means I will relate here.

Crow should (and will) be reminded that this constitutes 'griefing' and is against the Forest rules.

I was made aware of Crow's dissatisfaction with my choice of FPD officers almost immediately following the hiring of Constable Aquavixen (on April 25, 2005) because he IMed me directly about it. In spite of the tone of his words and the personal insults and accusations levelled against me, I took the time to address his concerns because I am aware how much he wishes to support the Sim.

Here, for your convenience, is an excerpt from that conversation:

[START LOG]

(log removed since it is apparently against forum rules to post it)

[ END LOG ]

Let me remind you that this constitutes 'griefing' and is against the Forest Rules. I chose to be lenient at the time because of Crow's affiliation with the Sim.

Now, during the course of this afternoon, I receive multiple reports that he is repeatedly broadcasting the URL to this thread throughout the Sim, to the point of annoying several of its residents.

Let me remind you that this constitutes 'spamming' and is against the Forest Rules.

Upon being approached by an FPD officer on duty about the spamming, Crow also threatened to eject said officer from the Sim if they IMed him again, thus interfering directly with their efforts to do their job. This is against the Forest Rules.

In addition to this, Crow threatened the FPD officer with damage to his/her computer through hacking into and crashing their PC's SL client.

Let me remind you that this is not only against the rules but is also against Linden Labs LLC's TOS (Terms of Service) and considered a VERY serious infraction. Due to the serious nature of this threat it is also taken as a personal affront to my officer, to me personally, AND to the Sim as a whole.

Crow Luchador has repeatedly stated how he stands up for and defend the Sim. In taking the actions (as outlined above) he has spammed the Sim, engaged in griefing, and has attacked the FPD and Forest admin - and in doing so adversely affected the very community he professes to defend.

As a result and in light of the serious problems he has caused Crow Luchador has been suspended from the Forest pending further investigation. In consideration for his previous (and hopefully continuing albeit demonstrably presently misguided) support for the community I will NOT however make the suspension permanent as I would normally be inclined to do considering the number and severity of the offences committed.

What I will consider (pending further discussion of this problem with my colleagues in the Forest) is to make his suspension temporary contingent upon the following:

a) That he make a full and public apology to Aquavixen Yaffle in this thread;

b) That he pledge to immediately stop interfering with the efforts of admin, FPD included, and with their efforts to do their jobs.

c) That he acknowledge he was wrong to behave as he has particularly with regards to uttering threats against ANYONE in SL, let along the admin of a Sim, and that this will NOT happen in future.

In closing I would like to inform you what factors I consider when hiring FPD officers. I look for the following qualities:

- Objectivity
- Good communication skills
- Polite conduct when the situation demands
- RL experience in server admin, law enforcement, etc. (not mandatory)
- The ability to work with, not against persons in authority and to listen to them
- The capability to keep one's temper in check
- Emphasis on the importance of professionalism and community-mindedness over having an itchy trigger finger

The question which I wish for you to keep in mind is this: in view of Crow's recent behavior as outlined above, do you think he has exhibited conduct appropriate to the position towards which he has aspired?

Sincerely,

Mariko Saito
Cmdr. FPD

P.S.: The Forest remains under current admin irrespective of its sale. Its theme will not change.

Why do furries need their own cops? Why is it such a coveted thing to be a furcop?

Considering that nearly every day, some yahoo thinks its fun to go to The Forest and cause trouble, the admins of the sim decided it would be good to have staff present as much as possible to deal with it. That's not surprising, is it? Many clubs have security personnel... the FPD is just that sim's version of it.

As for why belonging to it is coveted, that is a question with a different answer for everyone you ask. Some might crave what little authority the position affords them... some might want to join to help the community... some might not covet it at all. I am one of those that have no interest at all in the job, and would refuse it if offered. I have no desire to work hard for such a thankless job, just to be insulted and abused for my efforts. How those with the job can do it without sinking into bottomless depression is beyond me, and I salute them.

YAY havent seen you in a long time. I totally agree we need it back the way it was. I liked that little fountain area outside the old club. I used to build stuff out there. It was peacfull and i would watch ricky shoot giant flaming skulls into the air. :D One time i tried to build a bridge acrost the river but it turned phantom at the simline hehe. woops :P I guess that makes 3 of us counting frost you and I. Of course the forest is the only place im at these days unless hobbes or someone throws a event. I have nothing against the way the sims ran though. I just wish more people would take the other places into consideration.

Heee, I'm glad I have the socks rockingness still, WIllow! Nice to see you too, Yiffy, peg me in-game. I honestly still play!

Anywho, the only reason The Forest NEEDS a "FPD" is becuase, in their own isolationist views, they feel the need to stay away from the "normals". That just makes them a magnet for the silly fools who want to grief furs. I mean, it's like making a game full of verified, controlled teenagers with no adults around...a magnet for pedos *nudge*. As long as the furs want to stay all private and hidden, then there will be more and more griefers who will go for the easy pickins.

Beyond that though, I've heard the sim has been sold to Anshe. Hopefully someone new will pick it up, wipe the place, and throw up a mall...or club...Anything would be the improvement!

All i can do is hope for the best. Back in december before the forest opened, i dont rmember much of any griefing in dusun or batak. Yes there was some but thats normal. Just some random idiot that likes to wander by green map dots and use them as target practice. If the forest does get taken down lets rebuild what we once had in dusun. Satu if your reading this i looked at your treetop city. im in love with it hon. I used to love the one in greater faydark in EQ. but this one tops it off completely. ^_^ Hobbes did some redecorating of his land. (AKA killing the house.) but its still his land atleast hehe.

All? ... hrm... no, not all.

It ain't all about The Forest.

And The Forest ain't neccessarily all that, at all times.

We don't want Forest to die. It's been pretty effective fly paper for SL so far.

Go walk through their shop and ask yourself if you really want that to spread to the mainland.

Good point, Verkin. I keep forgetting that, our current furries on SL, with a few exceptions (sorry Michi dear), are all about "OMFG HawtHawt sexxors!", as oppsed to what we were before.

Ohhwell though. I still hope The Forest dies. If the freakfurs think the tiny griefing they've gotten on their own island is bad..wait tillthey experience mainland for the first time!

I'm all about being cute and nice. Like i've said many times in the past "don't let my name fool you. I'm not really all that yiffy" (Yiffy = furry term for cyber FYI). I only picked that named back in october cuz The last name 'Darkfang' wasn't available. (Darkfang is my online character's last name 'Wolfee Darkfang'). If i could do a name change i would but it's too late. And yes Michi is a great fur. I can name several furs in SL that aren't Furverts and actually do roleplay a nromal furry lifestyle. Then theres your 'fetish furs' who only do furry for sex (I don't fall into that catagory). Wow this got off topic. But then again what Doesn't? I just wish people wouldn't jump to the conclusion that all furs are nasty minded. But it's really the fault of those types of furs that force there fetishes onto the public and think everyone should have to see it.

Some things are meant to be kept in private IMO. With how things have been going lately, i wouldnt be suprised if someone did a furry parade march for diversity. Honestly it's just another one of humanities many lifestyles. So if someone don't like it just ignore it get over it and get on with your life! Now back to the topic. Crow i know how ya feel bro. But i have to agree with frost even though i wasnt there to witness it. But bringing killer robots with you would frighten people and piss inocent people off. Not everyone in that sim is to fault. But attacking them would bring retaliation that would get way out of control. See Not everyoen gives a crap about that no guns policy hehe. I know i've shot a few projectiles acrost the sim, even crashed it once. *whistles*

It's hard to be taken seriusly in SL with its lack of roleplay. It makes people act like were playing EQ

It's a friggin Mature sim... WHY CANT WE HAVE SEX THERE? AND GUNS!

You can't have sex in The Forest? Is that a new rule, or did I misunderstand the rules from the beginning?

As for shooting, I think it's to reduce lag. Guns that don't use physical bullets are ok in the sandbox for example, as far as I know.

Just my 2 cents.

But we don't really allow shootouts in Slootsville, out of pure courtesy of visitors and sim dwellers, last thing you want is getting booted halfway across the sim during a conversation, or building, or just if your standing still, and also yes, for the lag effect.

We built a sandbox for that reason, and also made the Space Monkeys Lab a kill zone (for them to test their guns), but I do ask, that if the sim has a lot of visitors, or there are ppl near by, not to shoot excessivly, as it puts ppl off coming back.

Before the forest there was Hobbes' place and the club in Dusun and Batak sims. When I visited there, often you'd see explicit furry porn pic that people put on display on flat prims to show to others, typically outside the building on the roof, where people met.

By contrast, I have never seen any porn picture displayed in the open, outside, for example in the sandbox (which serve as a meeting point were people chat, the forest is often empty except for the sandbox). There are sexual merchandise in the store and as much non-sexual merchandise... >_>, nothing unusual in a SL mature sim.
There's also a gallery of art that someone put in a building, including sexual art ; and two people's house that have porn pic on the wall, inside.

Personnally I'd say The Forest is cleaner than Hobbes' place was (which I liked too, no personal vendeta here).

So I'd say, by my observations, that our current furries on SL look to be less about "OMFG HawtHawt sexxors!" than before.
That said, I'm european and not online in the evening for US... maybe giant furry orgies take place in the evening ?)

It always amazes me how many sub-groups the furries have.
"furries" wasn't good enough... it seems soon we're doomed for groups so much in multitude in diversity that we'll see groups like:
"D/S flying, purple, furry intellectuals who don't like cat avatars (because they're so burgeois) and who enjoy water polo on thursday, but not Sundays because they're too tired from weekly rock-climbing the day prior"

;P HEHEH :D
