From: Pendari Lorentz yikes! I doubt this thread will end well. hehe.. But my general opinion is... Private Schools can have their own rules. While Public schools suck for the most part, some do actually turn out ok due to major parental involement. And of course we can rally government for Public School changes (though we know that rarely works ) And unless your child is fit for the *one* learning style that public school approaches, and you don't like the rules of your available private schools. Then homeschooling is always an option. heY. I went 2 pubic skool and i CAME OUT FINE1! I think school is what you choose to make of it. Having a computer for every student may help, but all you need to learn is some books! Well, unless you're learning about computers, then you're pretty much screwed.

From: Zarah Dawn The problem with Christians is .......[/QOUTE]
Does this sound like it's going to judge an entire group? Without regard to anything other than the fact they accept Jesus as the savior.
/QUOTE=Zarah DawnBTW..... the Bible does say" judge not that you be not judged for you'll be judged by the same thing that you judge with.."
It also says to judge a rightous judgement. Are we to be open to everything? Even things we find repugnant? If so, should not one be open to those Christians one calls problematic? Would it be wrong for Christians to judge but ok for us to sit here and judge them?
Is it ok to blame every person who claims Christ as their savior for the actions of this school?
These are questions that come to mind....

From: Kevn Klein The church would accept the homosexuals, I'm sure, as I stated already. The church didn't say they can't attend services. And I didn't suggest He(Jesus) meant to go, never to return. He meant to go on your way, your sins are forgiven.. but, don't continue to sin. I don't think Jesus condemns people for their weaknesses. But I'm sure He doesn't like us speading our sins around to others. Would it be ok to let terrorist's children(who are taught that suicide bombing is a great way to die) hang out with the school kids? To many Christians, homosexuality is not only a sin, but an abomination to God. Which is worse that your everyday garden veriety of sin. So to them it would be like commiting a suicide bombing if their child became homosexual, and spread it to other children. Because they(the private group that teaches school based on Christian principles) don't want homosexuality spread to their children doesn't mean they reject the homosexuals in their presence. Another thing, the young lady is 14 years old, which is a woman in many religions. She isn't a small child. She very likely is following her perents lead, in which case she would be seeking out other girls for her experiments, as she would seek boys had she been exposed to parents of differing gender. If I were to write the rules, I would not reject anyone for the actions of the parents. But I fully support all private organization to make their own rules. Just how do you propose that gay folk do this? Being gay is a state of being. What, you want us to cut out the gay nodule in our frontal lobes? And, just where in that article was anything said about the 14yo girl experimenting with lesbian sexual expressions? The girl, "Shay," was: From: someone reprimanded for talking to the crowd during a football game, Tina Clark said.

From: Eboni Khan Are you pleading ignorance to the well known and almost notorious homophobia in the black community? Try a Google Search on the topic And the rampant conservative views of most Black Americans that vote. My views are more radical than conservative. I firmly believe that all people have to have equal rights under the law, or no one will have any rights at all. I do believe that there is no or very limited comparisons between the Civil Rights movement and the Gay Rights Movement. It is apples and oranges. It is like comparing the Holocaust, Stealing Land from Native Americans, and the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade/Slavery/Re-Construction/JimCrow. There is no comparison, and to compare them is to belittle the pain and suffering of them all. I respectfully but completely disagree. Segmenting human beings into all of these convenient boxes is, in my view, the bigger disgrace. Stripping human beings of their dignity sucks, regardless.

Because they(the private group that teaches school based on Christian principles) don't want homosexuality spread to their children doesn't mean they reject the homosexuals in their presence. Homosexuality is not the same a suicide bombing. Homosexuality is not a communicable disease. The fact that you even make these comparisons turns my stomach. From: someone Another thing, the young lady is 14 years old, which is a woman in many religions. She isn't a small child. She very likely is following her perents lead, in which case she would be seeking out other girls for her experiments, as she would seek boys had she been exposed to parents of differing gender. That's just silly. On one hand you argue that her classmastes will do as she does (and not as their parents do) and then you argue that she will do as her parents and not as her peers. Which is it? You are wildly grasping at straws to justify this discrimination. From: someone If I were to write the rules, I would not reject anyone for the actions of the parents. But I fully support all private organization to make their own rules. Wait until their rules come after you. From: someone Hmm... Christians wouldn't be welcome in an all-gay school, so what's the big problem? Not only is that statement stupid, but it is false. Honestly, you couldn't come up with anything better than a cheap shot like that? If all else fails, make those fags out to be the mean boogie men who hate the Christians persecuting them. It's tired and so overdone. From: someone It makes me think they are using the child as a pawn to prove a point or make a case, I can’t believe anyone would be so willfully ignorant. Yes, they planned this for years and years and years so that when she was kicked out these lesbians trying to make a point could quietly move on and NOT sure, NOT call a press conference and NOT make any waves. You can think what you want, but I urge you to look at the facts. From: someone Comparing the Gay Rights movement to the Civil Rights movement will get a black person to typically turn a deaf ear on the Gay Rights in an instant. Maybe I should get you to introduce me to some of those "typical" black people. My experience has been just the opposite.

Ghandi is just a man and because you admiring his teachings, please don’t admonish those that don’t share your views. It makes you appear to be a hypocrite, which I am sure you are not. As a Buddhist I feel that all people are connected, but spirituality or religion is not a point I wish to argue with people. Simply Stated.. Equality and Individuality are not mutually exclusive. You can view people at equals while admitting they are different. I don't understand why this is a difficult concept to understand.

Humans are different even on a genetic level, to deny so is to deny science and if you don't believe in simple science, then it is impossible to have a conversation with you.

Just have to step in here for a second...
Who says we have to follow every single bit in the bible? Just because it mentions that laying with another man is wrong, doesn't mean that it's true. Maybe they screwed up hearing it from god and it's really, a man shouldn't lay with another HAM! The point is, there are all sorts of things in the bible that no one listens to today.
e.g.
A man shouldnt' be near a woman when she's having her period. It's allright to sell your daughter into slavery. Disobedient children should be stoned to death.
Times change, what was good back then, doesn't necesarily apply today. So for everyone sayign "we have to follow it, it's in the bible", don't forget to avoid women certain times, sell your daughters, and stone your children.
Peace

We're talking about recessive and dominant genes here, Eboni, not an entirely separate human genome. The human genome is unified. And you say Neehai and I use circular logic...what is your point, again? Is this one of those "my minority status is better than yours" kinds of debates?

unfortunately, racists exist in all races, all classes, but to presume that one race is racist is - well, racist. (whites against blacks, blacks against gays, mexicans against blacks... i know there can be a lot of -history- to these presumptions, but definitely not any -reason- to it, or for it, or for letting oneself be swayed into thinking like that.) it presumes the worst, not the best in a person, and i've met and talked to racists, had very civil conversations, and sometimes even seemed to change their minds that folks who are broader-minded than them are 'ok'... you can only plant the seeds of doubt in their minds, and hope it grows someday. can't lead that horse to water. (shit, now i'm stereotyping horses... i just didn't try to preach... i just told about life the way i saw it. if anything, i just tried to say that not having an arbitrary hatred like that frees up a lot of time in one's life. sort of a, 'don't you have better things to do than that?' my own grandmother is racist - well, y'know, she's grandma. not like she's an active robe-wearer, just one of those old mutterers when hispanics moved in next door. the funny part is, that side of the family tree probably has mixed blood, i've found out!! it's just something that has to die out someday... have to keep working toward making sure -this- minority - bigots - continues to be a shrinking population.

Parents broke the rules, likely on purpose in order to file a lawsuit in a bid to change US law through judicial process. (just a guess but it is a common tack just as the gay sex case in Texas recently had sodomy laws judged unconstitutional)
Here is a neat little fact, "homosexuality" did not exist until the 1869 or so in Germany when the word appeared in a pamphlet. Any person who quotes anything from the bible with the word "homosexual" in it is not quoting the bible. The concept of homosexuality and the way Americans conceive of it would be utterly alien to the way a 14th century person would consider the notion. Up until the French Revolution in fact, there really wasn't a concept of "homosexuality" really. Class rule was the social norm for most of the world until then, that is why the French Revolution is so important in history. What it meant was all men are equal.
Before the revolution, society was structured mainly by class. If you were a member of the aristocracy, you could do pretty much whatever you wished to the classes below you. Felt like corn-holing the stable boy? No problem. Wanted to peel the skin off an unruly slave? It's your money, do as you will. It's good to be the king. Or baron or manor lord. You could only run into problems with doing improper things with people of your station(raping the milkmaid is ok, raping the king's daughter, way not ok). If you were a minor lord for example, if you wanted to have an affair it was perfectly acceptable for you to take on a lover as long as it was someone lower than yourself. It was totally different if you had an affair with another lord's daughter (or son) and could lead to real problems.
The catholic church didn't have a problem with same sex marriages until rather recently and if you do a little digging you will find two Saints were married in a same sex union and was considered a rather special event back then. Up until recently the church's position was the heart can't be dictated to, you love who you love. They were much more concerned over "wicked" behavior over sex. It may seem weird but think of it this way, a leatherman in a spiked thong doing 3 lines of coke then gang banging a 15 year old boy along with 9 other guys is "wicked" in the eyes of god where a same-sex union of decent, hard working folks who contributed to the community and loved god were not.
Now, here is the kicker. Where exactly in the bible does Jesus say a woman shall not lie with another woman? Quoting Leviticus 20:13 does not count unless you also stone people for wearing poly cotton blend cloth, work on Sunday or cut their hair at the temple if they are male. In other words, Jesus (you know, the guy Christians based a religion on) never said anything about it other than Love.
Then again, I am a Pastafarian and the Flying Spaghetti Monster has said it's all good. It don't matter if you are gay, straight, bisexual, buysexual(you want sex you have to buy it) or whatever. Once you don Pirate regalia and are touched by His noodly appendage, you are assured a place in heaven with a beer volcano and a stripper factory!
