From: Weedy Herbst Recently there has been an upsurge of this. Some thread starters think they are smarter than LL staff and everyone else in the forums and relentlessly beat everyone over the head with the same rhetorical hogwash.
Know-it-alls. - Some people are out to convince others that they are always right or smarter than the creators of Second Life. I got news for these types. LL has a staff of highly trained, innovative and creative people. All this "They should do this, or they should do that" is highly insulting to the staff and those who admire them for a job done well. Most of these naysayers have no idea, that they know nothing anything other than hearing the sound of their own voices. LL has thread for Feature Suggestions and a Hotline. Post there if you want results. Posting in General only stirs up a hornet's nest. I doubt anyone knows about LL policies better than LL themselves.
Some of you, should get a fucking life or a job or see a shrink. These forums are not a daycare or touchy-feely place where one is entitled more than anyone else. If one cannot accept criticism, then don't post expecting sympathy either.
Let the Lindens do their job. Don't insist they change things because you have some axe to grind with someone else. OMG So I am not alone in this belief! I never seen so many cry babies AKA Know-It-All. Your have a friend Weedy

Shows a lot of true colors and the real personalities of the ppl here in the LL forums. One of my favorites was about the nerve of someone coming into the LL forums which were explained as an established groups "corner bar" and having their ass handed to them on a platter for going against the established groups view on a subject. Yes it was a very enlightening read thanks for the link. I have to say however I was stunned at just how comfotable your group has become, pitty realy.  Mar |

I read the thread and I did not see Cristiano say anything that wasn't completely neutral. He acted as a liberal moderator trying to inject humor into a very contentious debate and he only locked the thread when the name calling became extreme. I must say that the language and attitude of Cienna and Dogspot was just shameful. It was a chair-throwing Jerry Springer episode that served to do nothing but equally humiliate the contestants. Edit; but your right it wasn't a few wacks, sorry I always confuse Nolan and him they just post so much a like and so often together it confuses me.
Also Nolan was just as bad as the rest.

Also Nolan was just as bad as the rest. As usual, you cut off the quote in half to make it look like I only said something about Nolan, whereas I went on to say something equal about DogSpot. The entire thread was ugly. I had hoped that at some point they would just back off of each other, but they are both pretty strong willed and well versed in swearing, so it just went downhill very fast. I didn't take sides at all. Not that I owe you any explanation for your alt claim about Nolan and I, but I speak with Nolan on Yahoo almost daily and we talk about a lot of things related to SL, and will often post in a thread we are talking about. You know fully that we are not the same person, so I don't know why you persist in claiming we are, but I hope you will stop.

It was, as Cris said, ugly and further comment would only serve to reignite that which was put out when the thread was closed. If anybody is _really_ interested, PM me or IM in world.

Cussing scorecard in that thread, just so people are clear on this: DogSpot - 42 total. 14 of them after claiming to have "tried to adjust the tenor". After about 10 of those 14, DogSpot lectures about how she longs for "decency on forums". Cienna - 11 total. Cienna did set the tone more or less, as she started cussing first. DogSpot picked up on that and went off in post after post, which helped set the tone for the rest of the thread. Nolan - 13 total. In fairness, I called DogSpot a D*****hbag in my first post in that thread. It was flying all over both sets of forums that day (apparently it was the word of the day), and I didn't want to be left out. Later.

But not above linking to the SLU thread in question, so that everyone could go see it for themselves. Why bother? (Ya, I admit, I looked at it. I wish I hadn't.) This is not an unfriendly comment, btw. It didn't strike me as the right thing to do, but I may have missed something. As for Cienna Samiam, I thought she was gone. She created a performance out of it in another thread about changes in the ToS, and I took her seriously. Or is she planning a come-back off-Broadway before hitting the Big Apple again?  Cienna and the others involved are usually wickedly creative people, or creatively wicked, depending on the circumstances. What happened in that thread was just plain wrong. Something else was going on there. Hate to see silence replace the repartee, though. Can't we all barb, duck, joust, skewer, and love at the same time? |
