Bullies, Alts, Hypocrites and Know-it-alls

Recently there has been an upsurge of this. Some thread starters think they are smarter than LL staff and everyone else in the forums and relentlessly beat everyone over the head with the same rhetorical hogwash.

Bullies - We have people a few people who accuse others of being bullies, but are bullies themselves. The victim card gets played alot, when people are confronted. It's a lame excuse for making ridiculous posts. Nobody is above reproach. When you post here, you should expect contrary opinions and it's insane to expect 100% agreement.

Alts - Using alts to post is not, nor should be shunned unless the poster does it to make incite inflammatory remarks about other residents or LL staff.

Hypocrites - We sure see alot of this these days. Pot meet kettle. Sadly being a hypocrite is not against the forum rules as such, but often incites reaction. I pity poor Jeska sometimes because I'm sure she knows someone is shit disturbing merely to draw a reaction from others who feel the need to not allow bullshit to stand. Some people accuse others of doing things, yet do it themselves and when called on it, get all bent out of shape and resort to personal attacks or play the dreaded victim card, yet again.

Know-it-alls. - Some people are out to convince others that they are always right or smarter than the creators of Second Life. I got news for these types. LL has a staff of highly trained, innovative and creative people. All this "They should do this, or they should do that" is highly insulting to the staff and those who admire them for a job done well. Most of these naysayers have no idea, that they know nothing anything other than hearing the sound of their own voices. LL has thread for Feature Suggestions and a Hotline. Post there if you want results. Posting in General only stirs up a hornet's nest. I doubt anyone knows about LL policies better than LL themselves.

Some of you, should get a fucking life or a job or see a shrink. These forums are not a daycare or touchy-feely place where one is entitled more than anyone else. If one cannot accept criticism, then don't post expecting sympathy either.

Let the Lindens do their job. Don't insist they change things because you have some axe to grind with someone else.

Does the whole forum need to be present while you have your tantrum? It's not like you're seeking change or offering constructive criticism -- you're just bitching. How selfish of you.

I haven't seen this, personally. Perhaps we have different definitions of being a bully. To me a forum bully is one who relentlessly attacks someone else even when they are aware that they are upsetting their victim.

How about forum stalkers? That's how I think of the posters whom you can expect to see following the post of certain individuals with whom they don't like, have a history with, or are holding a grudge against.

Responding to a thread in the contrary, most times does not constitute stalking.

If someone is stalking, LL will swiftly deal with it.

Responding to a thread in the contrary is not what I'm talking about. Maybe in those cases where you can easily envision someone responding in a totally different manner and tone had someone else posted.

I'm not as sure as you are about LL's dealing with stalking swiftly but not due to their lack of concern. Stalking is not easy to deal with at all, much less swiftly. I do feel my use of the word overstates the situation although the pattern of behavior is similar. The difference is in the ability to do real harm in a forum, for pete's sake. Maybe the word bully falls in this category, too.

The best description I can think of would be to liken it to a swarm of gnats which hover around you. They don't harm you. They just tend to keep you from enjoying yourself, are distracting, and are annoyingly persistant.

I've actually got an ignore list which is pretty long. So, probably, have a lot of people here.

Who are you to talk about personal attacks? Haha! you are the only one in these forums I reported three times for personal attacks towards me! Since, LL is not able to respond to those, I'll do it myself.

You are personally attacking Weedy. You are calling her bitching, and selfish and having tantrums. I am amazed how you could demonstrate such an incredible hypocrisy by critisizing personal attacks first! This really should go into dictionaries as an example of what a hypocrite is. Really amazing, considering how ironic it is, being in respons to a post about bullies, personal attacks and hypocrites. I will add it to Wikipedia for sure! Bravo!

People need to be very careful of what they do here in the forums, or other people will send them instant messages inworld describing them as an "autistic bigot who needs to have sex".

How about if someone repeatedly accuses you of being the alternate of Tcos Bach, warning people not to speak to you, claims that you did stuff like call their internet service provider and filed DMCA actions against them, and posts links to material they claim was produced you which you have never seen?

Can somone give us a "best of" list on each? Best of the bullies, best of the hypocrites, best of the know-it-alls? I just don't feel comfortable anymore unless I read a "best of" list.

Or a poll, how about a poll? I'd feel better if there was a poll....
