From: Forseti Svarog I don't have a tree yet -- just been running around feeding a bunch of them because I love what you all are doing (and thank you for the thank you, LF!).
I agree with 30 day. Even 14 day would work -- the first two weeks on SL are the hardest -- but 30 is reasonable. I'm up for that, and a swapping of ban lists, which I've not actually used yet...

All this talk of people coming in, swiping money from the tree and running off is exactly what's been happening at our tree. I was thinking of adding them to a ban list, but then I thought.... isn't the purpose of the tree to help newbies get some extra money that they need? Maybe it means they have to fly around to one or two trees, or even try again at the same tree at a later time... So instead, I have contacted them, making them aware of a local 1$ store (it's right by the tree) if they haven't used it yet, or completely ignore my message, THEN I take further action. Though, one feature I would like to see would be a ban list only for the tree (which we could use in a notecard or something for peopel we think are abusing it?), I dont want to ban people from the stores. Anyway, just adding my bit

From: Sapphire Bombay On that note, has anyone had any fruit or bills go past the 24 hour period and drop to the ground yet? Yup, bills are sitting there. Maybe people don't want to fly all the way out here.

Thank you for the generous donation to my tree in Mavericks, which has now given out $2750 in a little over a week, along with $2300 on the second tree in Mavericks and 2575 in Merbel - so approx $7500 in a little over a week given to new players

i've taken down the money tree in alua due to an impending sale of the land. there's text directing newbies to the taber money tree where i'll be making my donations until i establish a new one.

the new fate gardens free money tree is located at alua (225,1). i put in the remaining donations from the previous location and will continue contributing a portion of fate garden's seasonal tree profit to it each week.
this tree is no longer available. the land has been sold.

Hopefully some of those players have written you thank you notes, although they are probably too new to really know how the money tree works. I applaud everyone who is involved in this. Generosity and SL spirit at its finest... even if some steps have to be taken to prevent abuse (heheh which is also part of the SL spirit I guess... LOL)

Essence, try listing your parcel so people can search for it using Find - Places, and then be sure to include in the listing the words "Money Tree." I suspect people are using this search feature to find the trees; if it's currently not listed, that may explain the accumulation of moolah.

My tree gets cleaned out as soon as it pops money lol. Not just the tree owners are doing something good but many residents are donating to the trees as well....David Cartier dropped by and donated $500 to my tree tonight which was very cool I guarantee that the newbs don't really realize the effort yet but will once they have been in world for a a bit longer and hopefully they will give back to the community one day too

Yep, mine has never gone over around L$20 in the tree at one time. Once they find it Essence, they will keep it clean. BTW, have you noticed any that fall to the ground die after 24 hours there? As far as finding it goes, I still have the landmark webring prototype in my pocket. It looks good so far, I just haven't had time to get back to it. Once, I have a test version, I will post here to get a few volunteers to try it out. Basically it is the same concept as a webring except with landmarks. You can read a little about the idea and see a picture at Bravo Bravo .

From: Sapphire Bombay You guys want 30 days instead of 60 days in this next rev.? That sounds good to me Sapphire Would anyone be interested in having a group of money tree owners?? I am thinking that if one is griefed, and wants to warn the rest (black listing) we can share info, and other tree owners can decide if they should black list em too. I would hate to have a griefer getting free money when other newbies more deserving need the help

One at Miru 38,78 but strictly for purposes of crass commercial promotion at Malachi's Maladies in Miru (motto: "where nothing is for sale except one L$5 thing that I forget to turn the sale bit off for" .

I would hate to have a griefer getting free money when other newbies more deserving need the help V2.7 has been out a couple days. For those of you that missed the announcement: Release Notes: V2.7 - 1/26/05 * Changed 'Last 3 Recipients' to 'Last 5 Recipients' * Adjusted check for max a newbie can pick while on 'Last 5 Recipients' list. If the fruit they are trying to pick puts them over L$25, they will not be able to pick it. * Newbies are now classifed as 30 days or younger Since this is just some tuning, I am leaving it up to you to upgrade or not. The new rev. can be found at Bravo Bravo - Garmisch(60,200)As far as a group goes, I thought of that too. But with the shortage of group slots, I didn't make one. Anybody interested? If so, I'll make one up and send out invites.

Yeah I was thinking that people are probably short on groups. Anyone willing to exchange cc? and network that way?

From: Aaron Levy What is the Hong Bao money tree? Chinese New Years version (Feb. 9th) Gives out Hong Bao envelopes instead of bills and fruit. Mechanics and amounts are the same, just some texturing/sound/verbage changes.
