I'd say it is most likely because new people are not aware of these types of things being passed around as much as those of us who have been here a while are. It really isn't a slam on new people. It is just more natural for those who are innocent to get hurt the most.  thank you pen that's what i was referring to with out using so many word as you so eloquently did _____________________

Most generally the newer players would have rezzed it not thinking or fully understanding why they recieved it. As Zap said in this post, he would have rezzed it and he is not a newb, others admitted to actually rezzing it as well. Ive been in game more then a year, and I would have rezzed it too  |

When will SL be up lol Aye, bad news, and I quote the Announcement forum; Approximately 1/2 an hour ago the grid was been taken down due to an IM bomb in the Welcome Area which spewed IMs at a victim and caused our IM subsystem to become overwhelmed. We are deploying an emergency fix to prevent this type of attack in the future. This means that the grid will be down for about 5 hours, which is the amount of time it takes to bring the grid down, install the patch and bring the grid back up. We anticipate the grid being back up by 11:00pm SLT (Second Life Time). |

If you think this is just a game I would suggest you research the founders and current executives of LL and what they have said about SL and their intentions. But at a different level, yes it is a game, but ONLY to those of you that use it as a game. In your specific case I'd bet you simply lack the foresight and imagination to see it as anything else. |

The Lindex is abolished and no conversion exists between Linden money to real USD. As long as SL has a fiat currency that is exchangeable to USDand vise-versa then it is no longer just a game. Enforce this policy like other online games and punish those caught trading money. 2. Experience based advancement as in EXP to learn new skills or to gain a higher status. 3. Virtual land ownership is abolished and you deal with what you are given, preset by the Linden's. 4. In world to internet communication is removed and vise-versa other than what is needed for the client to operate. In other words, get rid of the features that allow SL Exchange to operate. 5. Some web comic creator to parody the SL world and it's players as is done with WoW and other larger MMORPGS. 6. The ability to interface a joystick or control pad to SL. 7. Only interactions with the world are building gnomes and just chatting. Meet all the above conditions and I will call SL a game as opposed to a real business model, a real 3D development platform and even perhaps the leading edge of the wave to the future of immersive technology. _____________________

It has more to do with how internet savvy you are. Receiving files from unknown people is something you have to be aware of in every day internet usage... Most who are internet savvy would automatically (as I did), be wary of receiving anything in this way regardless of whether they started using SL yesterday or 2 years ago. Yes it comes down to educating people on the mechanics of certain things. I simply don't believe the date you moved in indicates your level of knowledge. Anyway, just my 2 cents worth.... |

This shouldnt have happened a second time. It is their own fault for not doing the job properly. I forget who said it, but he who did was right. You don't thank your telephone company for giving you service. If it was free, maybe, but, WE pay. Thanks to their mess, now its going down the drain.
