Shhhh, I'm trying to concentrate here. I'm working on a seduction algorithm, but there are too many axis in my n-dimensional matrix.

See, why couldn't I have had a name like Codesmith? :P

HUM Ok I looked and currently there are only 7 of the 100 Slates left. I know for sure that Zygo and I are definitely two Slates that are still Kicking. There’s a rumor that a possible third one is still around *Coughs. Alright, Nina was a friend of the family; I had always loved her name. I changed the I to a Y just because I like how it looked. The definitions for the name are below.
NINA (1)
Gender: Feminine
Usage: Russian, English, German, French
Other Scripts: Нина (Russian)
Pronounced: NEE-na [key]
Short form of names that end in Nina. This name also coincides with the Spanish word niña meaning "little girl".

NINA (2)
Usage: Near Eastern Mythology
Means "enclosure of fish" in Babylonian. This was the name of a Babylonian fertility goddess, the patron goddess of the city of Nineveh.

NINA (3)
Usage: Native American
Means "fire" in Quechua.

We all know Slate is rock.

So I guess by these Definitions I am a little girl that encloses fish, who is the fertile Patron Goddess of the city of Nineveh that is HOT and Rocks!
Hummmmmm. I'll take the Hot and Rocks ;)

Kothari -

I don't really know what it means and I'm not sure how many of my cousins are left here.

Edit: looks like Ramon Kothari and Lita Kothari are still around and possibly Kats Kothari? Is that it, just 4 of us?

My guess is "Mr Slate" from The Flintstones. (Whose name changes often: http://www.topthat.net/webrock/faq/faq19.htm )

...Although it's not, it'd be good if it was taken from http://www.galleryserpentine.com/. A shop in Sydney where some of our clothes were made for our wedding :)
A lot of the surnames are references to literature, film and arts. Some are obvious, like Roo, Withail, Bach, some are a little more obscure.

To this day, I always think someone was thinking of Serpentine when the name was picked.

And no, Petunia does not necessarily mean poofta (not that there's anything wrong with that) but it does mean I'm a fan of Vonnegut. How's that for abstruse?

Metropolitan is a Grand Marnier version of the Cosmopolitan martini. Aside from other meanings.

I am currently drinking an alcoholic beverage.
Enough said.

axis = axes. We're obsessed with details ;). There are only 2 others that I've met, Ariel and Rocket. Ariel makes tiny things and likes to help people. but then again she let me pick the name we'd use... lol so that probably has some effect on the representativeness of the name in her case. Rocket I don't know all that well, so can't say. Me I'm definately obsessed with details, IT MUST BE JUST SO OR IT"S WRONGGGGG!!!! but usually I'm only that way about my stuff ;), I'm not that bad about ripping apart other peoples things. I'm also a bit antisocial and will just ignore ims if I don't feel like talking. actually I'll ignore people in person too but I usually pretend to be afk until they go away so as not to offend too much. Oh yes, we tell the truth to a fault. but we have no qualms about lying. it's just more entertaining usually to be honest :). We like the funny!

Actually I picked the name after a few hours of searching the list. First of all I figured it was hard to pronounce which is just me being a stinker :). Second it's a classic scientist name which I like. Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen was the german physicist that discovered x-rays. Last I like alliteration and I'd already picked the name Rickard because I like the name Richard, but hate the name Rich, or Dick for that matter.

So ya, there you have it. the inner workings of a Roentgen's mind.

I just thought "Garden" sounded good after Ash. The mental image of a garden of ashes is entertaining! :D

I don't really know any other Gardens though, so I can't make any conclusions about our shared traits, if any.

Despite comments to the contrary, regarding my choice of surnames, may I clarify...

I am not a prostitute!

But I am a very friendly person, and certainly hope everyone's wishes come true :)

...but why then the new really nasty german names ???
10-25-2005 11:32
I am from germany, yeps, but I never would like to take one of the new names that Lindens offer ..... brrrrrr, nasty nasty !

If the names' iontention maybe should be to show

a) - you are from germany

or

b) you like germany

why the hell should I take a name like 'Einarmige' or 'Sachertorte or any weird name like that, who would really like to call yourself

Einarmige = one-armed, having only one arm
or
Sachertorte = a cake from austria, created by the Cafe Sacher...
or
heeeeeeeeeeelp
Juergens = a (for my taste at least) old grease-haired poodle singing schlagers - waaah..

Oh please, if the names are meant to express anything - please not names like THESE...

*falls an knees happily that you not yet MUST select a 'german' name when you're from germany.... *wipes sweat away.... :)

Hmm, that's very interesting indeed, Sabrina. I had no idea that's what those meant. Heh, this is definitely something that the new international folks should be thinking about as they market SL abroad.

Well, if I try to speak for the Noir's, Jonq will pop up. We'll have a highly cynical argument followed by ribald jokes. Then we will trade schemes on how to take over the world. THEN we'll get bored and each have a few drinks and return to step one. Hmmm.

Lumiere and Snakekiss I'm pretty sure are still around, though not sure they fit this pattern. I think there is another active Noir running around somewhere but can't remember the name.

J, L & S are creators, I am.... not at the moment. Well, has to be an idiot child in every extended family.

I don't think I'm that much like the other Ixtabs that I've met. Most Ixtabs seem to be the gloomy antisocial sort. I guess this kinda makes sense, such that Ixtab is the Mayan goddess of suicide.
