page1 (pāj) n. 1. a) A leaf or one side of a leaf, as of a book, letter, newspaper, or manuscript: tore a page from the book. b) The writing or printing on one side of a leaf. c) The type set for printing one side of a leaf. 2. A noteworthy or memorable event: a new page in history. 3. Computer Science. A quantity of memory storage equal to between 512 and 4,096 bytes. 4. Computer Science. A webpage. 5. pages A source or record of knowledge: in the pages of science. I don't know a lot about computer science or leaves, but I'm a wealth of useless knowledge and remember more than I really should. And the only reason I picked Page was because I thought it'd be cool to have the same last name as Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin ( http://www.led-zeppelin.it/imm/foto/jp/jp01.jpg )

I chose "Jack" because I wanted the most generic name I could find. I wasnt interested in making a statement with the last name I chose....
Now you have me thinking about what that means.
"Champie" is supposed to be self-deprecating. Imagine someone who aggrevates you by calling you "boy", "buddy", "fella", or "champ"
"Champie" is a pleasant way of calling myself a pathetic underachiever.
I've said too much, but I imagine it's pretty obvious if you have had the chance to get to know me.
So, to sum up, I'm a worthless nobody...even in my SL
I don't speak for all Jacks

I've noticed people with the last name Linden are quite bossy. They act as if they run the game!

hehee well...

i was a lil' worried myself over 'salome' whether some people would read that as 'salami'. that'd make it italian instead of french, i think and before that, it's actually hebrew in origin, according to my lil' name dictionary... hey, get this - i'm the "personification of tranquility," lol... my r-life certainly doesn't feel that way right now... dunno about my 'sl reading'; it doesn't seem to be a common pick inside. i only once met another 'salome' girl, very briefly - we went, 'hey, another salome!! '

I think I can only quote the originator of the name, Spider Robinson's character Jake Stonebender: "They call me Stonebender, and they ain't kiddin'." Except, of course, Jake didn't say "kiddin'"...

From: Newfie Pendragon That would explain why 'Romulus' tends to mean a personality that barks, has fleas and humps the legs of strangers. If you'd ever watched ST:TNG you'd know that Romulus denotes pointy-eared people with bad attitudes. P2

I only know four or five Vogels, and see one every now and then, but don't use me as an example for the Vogels...I doubt we have the same personality.

I'm a Prefect. I'm decidedly odd. I say things people might completely understand. And I do things that some people might see as strange. Although I'm not from from a small planet in the vicinity of Betelgeuse.

Here is a website that gives the meaning behind names, but some of the names in SL don't have an exact matching meaning. For example: EDAV was not found in this database. Names that sound similar to EDAV: ADVA f JewishATEFEH f Iranianand ROARK was not found in this database. Names that sound similar to ROARK: RUARC m IrishRURIK m Russian http://www.behindthename.com/

The only Lamberts I know are myself and Jack. I think there's two or three more out there - but the rest all seem to be inactive. The Surname 'Lambert' takes it's name from "Lamb Herd" or "Land Bright". I guess I can live with being a Sheepherder. Now, where did that pesky Schwan go....?

From: Pendari Lorentz Err, I have no idea what you all associate with Lorentz. I honestly think my first name (and all my nicknames) tend to mean more than my last name to most. But I have no idea. haha.. What do you think of when you think of my name?? well, at risk of showing my physics nerdiness... The name Lorentz for me conjures up images of a magntic personality who is adept at sending highly charged people off on tangents Link for the hopelessly nerdy (no offense meant if that's not the case ) I've seen few Fassbinders in game and I picked this name with the expectation that there wouldnt be many others who took it, I like being unique

I've met two other Claveaus in the world and liked both of them, though we're completely different. One is a guy who has an African-American avie and we always kid people that we're brother and sister (but Mom liked him best!). I picked Claveau simply for the alliteration. Since then I've had more than one DJ fumble to pronounce it, leading me to think I should have stuck with "Smith" or somethin'. Is it just me or are there as many females with the last name "Pussycat" as there are furries? What's up with that?

Well, everyone else is busting out dictionary definitions, so ... From: someone From WordNet (r) 2.0 (August 2003) [wn]:
spinnaker n : large and usually triangular headsail; carried by a yacht as a headsail when running before the wind I had no idea what it actually meant when I picked the name, but suffice it to say I am neither large nor triangular, nor am I carried by a yacht as a headsail when running before the wind. Of course, I can't speak for any other Spinnakers in SL.

Fun thread so far.
Not that I mind the discussion wandering into the etymology of our last names, but remember the idea of this thread is to identify common personality traits shared by SL players with the same last name. Are they Creative? Technical? Argumentative? Introverted? Social? etc.
The origins of the name may actually play a large role in why players with certain characteristics selected the name in the first place. But I think it's interesting to take it a step further and see our last names actually do act like an "astrological sign" in divining our personalities.
