So I was thinking, I can't help but notice that there is a corelation between our last names and our personalities in SL. It's almost as if our last names work as some kind of astrological sign! Not everybody falls neatly into any category but there DOES seem to be trends. For example, in MY experience the following names have yielded the given characteristics:
Midnight - Creative, dedicated, highly social. Omega - Logical, Technical. Chaos/Broom - Playful, mischievous. Fate - Quiet and industrious. Fairlight - Snarky, clever.
Has anybody else noticed this? Any other names carry certain behavioral trends? Discuss.

Does this mean I have to start being highly social?

Let's not get started on what those with the last name DUCK typically have been, hehe.

I think there are only 30 or so Martens left, and i've only ever met one... I doubt very many are active anymore. That means I can make up whatever I want about myself Empathetic, creative but scatterbrained, random, nitpicky... Prolly others but I can't think of any more at the moment (see #2)

As there's 660+ family names, I would think that one would need more than a handful of samplings to come to any type of conclusion that wasn't heavily colored by the sampler's own opinions and thoughts on the matter. Having said that though, considering that each player picks their own name, it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility that one's own personality would factor into their choice.
For example, on initial thought one would think a 'Codesmith' could possibly be of a different personality than a 'Casanova'.

It is true. At the risk of being branded a dreaded profiler, I've noted that chosen last names clearly indicate the personality and predispositions of the person behind the av.
One thing we have to be careful of though is imposing our personal impression of a name. I might easily jump to the conclusion that anybody named Foo Lake is going to be a disingenuous ass because of an old love affair. What I really need is to meet a few Lakes inworld before I form an opinion of the name.

Can't really say anything about Neva, cause I haven't met another one. So I guess Neva means that I'm better then all of you. Sorry to sound like an elitist, but I don't make the rules

I am just noticing some vague similarities in the people associated with some last names. But in my mind they are far more general than a good-bad judgement. It's more like "tends to like scripting" or "tends to socialize a lot" etc.

I have no clue what Nash reveals about me. there are only two of us, and we are quite different. Maybe it indicates that I am just a big old forum bad guy....

I wonder if the last name was choosen because of the personality of the person. I know I choose Mars as my last name because I like space, and most related space things. So there may be some relation to last names and personalities.

From: Siggy Romulus Hell my last name was chosen by a dog paw and a slip of the mouse.. That would explain why 'Romulus' tends to mean a personality that barks, has fleas and humps the legs of strangers. - Newfie

"Oh, God, no, I knew a Shannon in high school who was awful . . . " etc. Very dependant on personal experiences. coco

Pico: outgoing, patient, and a twisted sense of humor..
Although not many Pico log in anymore, I did manage to meet most of the remaining names on the "find" menu and I think that we have/had similar traits. I see Lale Pico all the time. Jellin Pico is still around, I think she fits my assessment, but she may jump in and correct me. If anyone remembers Snoopy Pico, he fits the traits. I miss Snoopy, he was always fun to hang out with.
It is interesting to see how, or if, people with similar last names respond to each other. A lot of people bemoan having to be forced to pick a last name that will eventually be retired, but I think it is actually a pretty cool and a unique thing.

hehehe cool question Aimee I definitely think all of us Protagonists left are exactly that! Protagonists! Usually our antics try to involve the whole SL globe in some fashion and are grand in scale... I don't know Neil very well, but Neph and Taggy definitely fit in that category with me lol It's probably been 100 SL years since I have seen either of them though... I don't know any of the other Protagonists though. Oh and we've all been around for a long damned time lol
