Yeep! My wand is now "Creator: (nobody)"! I've never seen that happen before so quickly.. even when someone's gone from Search People you can usually get at them from an item they owned or made, but... :(

Folks are right though. Probably someone will create another sculpture based wand. In fact if I recall correctly the last version of the wand allowed new things to be added to it (I wonder if he was actually planning to leave at that time, because the wand went steadily up in versions v2.25, v2.26 etc, and then "v2.26+"...?) It won't be the same, mind you.

Starax is actually the reason I didn't give up and kept building after a rather nasty event made me reconsider my presence in SL.

I miss him. :(

I admired Starax's work as well as his avatars, now I just wish I would have bought all of them instead of just to 2 I do have.

Starax did not leave, atleast not by his own power, if you check the facts, he just posted yesterday, and now today, his land is Linden Land, His shop is gone, New World Gallery no longer has his stuff on display, even tho they still say they do, his profile is almost entirely blank except for one group, but when you look at that group, his name is not listed. Only one entity has this kinda of power in SL..........

If land is released/abandoned by the owner it now becomes Linden Land. It's possible Starax just dumped it.

That is exactly what happens if, after your last intended post... you

1. Leave all groups
2. Delete your profile
3. Take all your items
4. Release your land
5. Quit and delete account

He may have been planning that for ages. Who knows?

And you're absolutely right. It is a sort of arrogance. But I think it's healthy.

I'm not trying to take away from his accomplishments. I'm merely trying to put them into perspective.

The thing that's interesting about SL is that the tools are more accessible to a wider group of people than traditional art forms. I can't draw to save my life and I never thought of myself as an artist before I came to SL. That's probably true for many people.

The one thing that I know for sure is that the first step to creating something incredible is the belief and knowledge that you are capable of doing it. Without that, creation is impossible.
