I hope the bastards get a lawsuit.
If I were an LL developer - I think I might unintentionally add a bug to the asset server that would accidentally put the perpetrator's RL name into the owner field, and by mistake put their RL address into the location field in their profile.

Then I, as LL, would do nothing.

That's cool! If SL can't restore the objects, we'll get to rebuild everything better!

Ok where is your proof Mr.? I think you should offer some before getting ppl all worked up into a frenzy.

Lordfly isn't a liar, so I would believe him without any 'proof'. Really, why be confrontational when it doesn't even contribute to the thread. There seem to be enough pics posted that back up the claim, also from people I trust, like Cubey Terra.

I'd type more about why I trust them, but I get the feeling you probably don't care.

Oh my...last night I saw few places sieved like that, but I thought it was just a re-decorating project of some kind.

I could laugh, seeing as I do not own land, but I sympathise instead. I am sure most of you put loads of time and energy into creating your builds..this sucks. :(

*hugs* to all

Earlier this week in Bruin we had an item bouncing in and out of land properties back and forth to fast to catch... James Hoggard was the owner. It seemd to be contributing to the lag there since another neighbor claimed to have seen it on her object list just briefly.

I didnt think much of it assuming some idiot was just tinkering with scripts and it ran off from him.

Regardless, its sad when people try to show off thier e-penis by being a complete dick to the community.

I hope the bastards get a lawsuit.

That same individual hit me as well as others with a script while dancing at the Shelter. The sim went down. We AR'd him. Interesting that his name should come up in this thread.....

That's a joke, right? Did you even read the whole thread?

nope i dont always read entire threads time is something i do not take for granted. somedays I just skim.

My point is more of pointing LF's finger back at himself. He is forever complaining that ppl are overly hysterical. creating drama where none exists and screaming "the sky is falling" I found his post ironic to say the very least. Hypocritical IMO.

I posted some pics of the destruction on the first pages of the thread. You should view them. However, as of now, the Lindens rolled back all affected simulators, so the destruction was reversed. Thank goodness.

Yes, gone.

My museum in Grignano? Gone.

My house? Baffo gone.

Everything in Grignano? Well, if it's named "object", it's gone.

Temporary? You better fucking hope so.

I always find it interesting how the people first to say lack of recourse doesn't matter (with regard to the new ToS) are the first to posture and present as if they HAVE recourse when something goes wrong.

Newsflash -- had restore not worked, and all your above-listed items were permanently gone, your only choices would be:

1) Rebuild it.
2) Quit.

Get used to it, and be glad that backups don't require LL maintained code to run.

*bangs head on keyboard*

Seeing half the content in my home sim disappear for 2 hours while the Lindens deal with an attack isn't "drama". Drama would be someone, I won't name names though, going "OMFG TEH LINDEZ ARE TEH COMMERCIALZ! "

Or maybe "OMFG TEH LINDEX IS TEH BROKEZ CUZ I HAVE NO MONEYZZZ   "

There's a, to quote Lewis Black, "Big. Fuck. Difference." between losing 3000 prims during a gridwide attack and worrying about fictional commercialism in SL, or how changing the words "the" to "an" in the ToS spells the end of the world, or how the Lindens running their own currency exchange is somehow raping their customers.

Yes, I knew there was a 90% chance of the sim coming back with all my stuff. It still shouldn't have happened.

Maybe get off your high horse of hating me for perhaps 30 seconds and read the rest of the thread.

Don't flatter yourself. Hate requires more effort than you're worth. :)

Actually, Linden Lab probably uses custom methods for backing up their data, seeing how unique their server grid is. So it probably does require LL maintained code, or at the very least, administrative oversight.

As for the rest of your post, I don't understand the mindset of continual attacks, so I won't bother dissecting it. I'd just ask - why bother? It contributes nothing.

Actually, backup schemes are fairly standard and other than determining frequency and backend DR options, the process OF backing up requires little if any custom coding. so you're like... wrong and stuff.

As for the rest of your post, when you learn the difference between stating reality and making an attack, let me know. Obviously, you can't grasp the contribution until then. :)

If that's the case, almost everything I own will be gone.

They rolled stuff back to just before the time that the attack happened, an hour or two. Not 3 months. The only content you would have lost would be anything you created between the time the attack happened and the time we were all forcibly logged out. That's why they said not to rez or make anything while they figured shit out.

LOL! If we got rolled back even a week this forum would be flooded with OMGWTFBBQ threads! I assume it was only a few hours since there are no lynch mob threads.

When it came back up in Welsh, I saw a few more griefer balls spawn and start bouncing around. I was thinking, "Oh, here we go again!" But I guess the Lindens were better able at cleaning up the remnants of the attack.

I haven't read any of this thread but I don't see where your proof is.

Guilty dogs bark first. :) But hey, feel free to put me on ignore, since you obviously have no self-control otherwise.

When I logged on last nite at my home around 10pm SL time my IM's had been capped out by my security of my house letting me know that something was trying to get in it. The messages were "Object has tried to enter your home in Dacia" or it was " has tried to enter your home in Dacia" I had no clue what was going on and then after about 5 minutes of being online, I kept getting message after message (at least 100) of the same thing. I went up to my little oasis in the sky and I contacted Live Help after a group IM told me the grid was under attack. Almost immediately a Linden was standing next to me and asking what was happening. I told him about my messages and he asked if I had been in the house. I said no because I didn't know what was going on and I wasn't about to go down there lol. So he went down to check things out, not sure what it was because I never heard anything back.

I'm really tired of these internet punks who enjoy phucking everything up for others, especially at this time of year. What the hell ever happened to "Goodwill to Men" ?
