Just got a msg ingame from the Lindens saying that logins are limited to Lindens only.
They are trying to still deal with the grid-wide attack from earlier.
So if you are not inworld you won't be able to get back for a while.

Update2: Lindens working on it. Advised not to build, rez, or log on.

Other city sims are fine. I'm guessing 25% of sims are affected.

Other objects not named object are missing, too. And some objects named "object" are still around Grignano.

So this maybe is just an issue with City class Sims... Still bad but would mean my house is still there. Hope they get everything fixed back for you Lordfly.

It seems logins have been disabled, which is a good thing. I don't think I want to see Freelon. I'm not too worried though. They should be able to do a rollback unless the asset server finally went up in flames. If not, well I guess I know what I'll be doing for the next year!

What's the best way to spend a disaster?

Pool side of course (what's left of it anyway) with drinks!

Here's pictures of the Shelter in Sunny Isabel right now.

By some sheer luck - Wingo crashed before all this went down. It came back up in the middle of this mess, and its intact.

(Oh, and btw - I STILL have the nasty habit of calling everything 'object'!)

Check it out:

Lovely pics, Soleil, but never ever put bmp files on the forum. Always convert them to jpg. Those things are huge!

Add Io to the list of sims hit with this. My shop and my girlfriend's castle are all pretty much gone, along with many of our neighbor's builds. :(

I think a rollback is definitely needed here.

Wow. So I guess we'll get to know who did it, since you'll be taking it to the FBI, taking into public record, right? Right?

I'm pretty upset at losing Abbotts Aerodrome. That place took a very long time to build. I really hope they can do a rollback on the affected sims.

On a side note, Huns is correct... it's not just things named "object". Many things deleted were not named Object and many Objects still remain.

You should consider Rez-Foo. It would toss up your aerodome in a flash.

Object? What object?
12-12-2005 18:43
This thing about items named 'object' going missing.... does that include linked builds which are named but where the individual linked prims are named 'object'?

People who do this kind of nonsense deserve something more than a mere banning (which only actually does anything for people law abiding enough to respect said ban).

I say string em high. erm or take em to court, whichever is more efficient.

Hmm guess my new building in Gallinas may have been a casualty then.. at work so I can't log in - Travis, can you take a peek over there for me?

If Jonquilles Little Rebel Shop is gone I won't be going home tonight, I'll sleep at work.

Has LL introduced any automated responses to grid attacks since the last one? Is this perhaps an unforeseen byproduct of such an automatic prevention code (if it exists)?

Amen to that. It never ceases to amaze me what complete assholes some people can be.

In the pictures it looks like most of the items still there might have scripts in them. It looks like mostly walls, roofs, and some floors are gone. Do non-scripted objects get returned before scripted ones? Might explain why these replicators are so effective, seeing how they have scripts. Wouldn't it make sense to make non-owner objects are returned first, or am I misunderstanding how it works altogether?

Exactly my thoughts. Their tool against selfreplicating thingies went too far.

LL has backups.

I suspect once they kill the griefer "Objects", they can backup the sims

Well, I am not a lawyer, but if, as the Lindens have suggested before, they are taking legal action against these thugs, I think it should be be a bit more public. Personally, I'd like to see mugshots on the homepage (complete with background of parent's basement), but I could accept maybe a higher profile post. It's not even the shame factor, though that is a bonus, but to make clear that there are serious repercussions.

And a question that I'm too lazy to look up for myself at the moment. Many legal contracts require acceptance of a specific legal jurisdiction for disputes. If one such clause exists in the TOS, and if that jurisdiction applies to cases like these (which it may not), are these records public and the criteria narrow enough for an enterprising person to track down any Linden actions that may be under way?
