I am selling islands for 1450 per island.

It may take me a week or so to get it though. Sign up now!

So does this mean I would be able to port into anyones home just by double clicking it on the map? I'm sure there are a lot of folks that will have a blast with that ability.

That's doubtful. I'm sure there will be a parcel control to disallow direct teleportation.

Who gives a crap about telehubs if we can p2p teleport. And NO we don't need to be charged for it.

That I disagree with. Direct teleport privileges should come with premium accounts only. No need to give away the farm.

This will be great for business. We can set up shop anywhere now. I was thinking a good business plan would be to buy up lots of tiny plots in every neighborhood to sell things. I used to keep a store about 200m from a hub, but now I can have many all over SL with the same tier fee and no concern for location at all. I haven't tried tringo or a casino as a business yet.. hmmmm .... YeeeeHaaww... this might be fun :)

This is one of the things that There definately does better than SL. They do charge for a thing called the explorer pack so you can do it, so I don't care if it's made for premium accounts. I meant (and should have clarified) that we don't need to pay per teleport.

Ah, yes, a per-teleport fee would kind of suck.

Satchmo, when you invest in SL, not just provide services, and have a change cost you thousands in time and money, I suspect your tune will change.

blaze I understand this hurts a few people deep in the pockets... but weren't you preaching something about smart investments all week?

From the minute I logged in I realized land was a risky investment I wanted to stay far away from.

Then p2p becomes almost like a status symbol, creating a real social wealth gap. On the other hand, it's a great sink and perhaps a happy compromise.

edit: well so much for the compromise. Even more excited about p2p now.

Absolutely. This change doesn't effect me one iota (in fact, it helps me greatly).

However, I appreciate the damage than an unstable business environment can do to everyone.

There are ways to introduce these changes, they're called: roadmaps

That sounds super.

In fact, how about every upgrade from this point forward is only available for premium members. Different builds for different "classes."

Oh, and basic members have to wear a scarlet B prim attachment.

While of course - I'm way concerned about the $12/sqm I had to pay for all the land I own in Isabel - Its not like I ever planned on selling either. So that's trivial.

Zoning? Jesus. I really hope I'm wrong that P2P will make our cluttered world worse. If I am wrong, a year from now I'll graciously take a healthy "I told you so" from Khamon. :D

Problem is, we wont know whether I'm right or wrong about this concern till its too late.

Its here though. Not gonna bitch about it too much & just deal. Change is just a challenge :)

The issue with p2p teleporting and telehub land is a legitimate concern. But instead of whining about how p2p teleporting is so unfair, a smart business person will look for the opportunies this change may present.

The thing is changes can happen, but they don't have to be jarring about faces which screw everyone concerned.

Roadmaps with 3 month lag time should be introduced to give people an opportunity to adjust and adapt.

Do you have any idea of the massive disruption that telehubs will cause?

This is so immensely unfair to people who have invested so much to leave them in the dark like this.

I'm shedding a single tear for you....right now.

That is true, but the fact that it has moved forward to the acknowledged stage is a good thing. I do hope they will implement this feature - it would benefit so many users and make SL a lot more enjoyable to travel in, especially as it continues to get larger. A handful of landowners should not hold up such an important improvement of SL for all of us.

Hear hear!! Let SL freedom (of movement) ring!

As the author of this proposal, I say absolutly NO to a fee

or to make it useable by an elite few.
