I own an island and I have no problems with P2P. I prefer my renters to be able to have people tp directly to their stores. In fact, I think this could be a boon for island owners.

Long live free P2P!

PLEASE MAKE THIS A LAND OPTION!

There are those of us who like having a little privacy now and then and don't want people just popping into our sim, right next to us, without warning. Its hard enough to get any work done in SL with the total lack of decent privacy controls (like the ability to be invisible on the map, not appear as a green dot or trackable by anyone with your card). THINK THIS THROUGH BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!

Thanks,

-Flip

all you people that are so happy about this should stop and think....
no more telehubs means no more commercial zones...wich will mean no more residential zones...wich will mean a store comming to a house near you

Unless you use your head and buy up the land around you. That has always been the ONLY way to control your environment. To own it. Now I bet a lot more people will be taking that option, which means higher tiers and buying more land, which means more money for LL.

I won't miss telehubs at all. They're the reason I no longer go exploring. They're the SL equivilent of a webpage with a dozen pop-ups you can't turn off.

For the people complaining about having paid extra for telehub land.. LL didn't charge you extra. Talk to your friendly neighborhood land baron about getting a refund. I once bought some lovely land right between water and road at auction, with protected land on 2 sides. Then LL sold the protected land, and my new neighbors put up a big hideous build, lagged the sim to shit, and built out into the water, ruining the view. LL didn't refund me anything for the loss of value to the land.

I agree. A toggle switch to make a private residence "Private" I think would be easy to do. In cases where people are traveling to land marked private, they would either arrive at a designated point (Designated by the Land owner) or just outside the private residence borders.

I only humbly submit that there should be a fee involved for P2P teleporting.

Therefore, you keep the telehubs (free public transportation), and the impatient/overly rich/whatever folks can simply double click to get to their destination (for a variable fee depending on distance).

Best of both worlds, PLUS we get a money sink that'll stabalize the economy.

No. Absolutly not. Point to point teleporting should be totally free. lets keep the Tax where it belongs.... In the Past

I guess the rollout of my PTP Teleportation system and directory is dead. :(

I'm using it and it works just fine Hank.

Yes!

This needs to happen ASAP. And it needs to be free (no fee). A proper metaverse demands it.

Also, land owners need to be given some options about controlling how people teleport on their property:

* Anywhere - Some land owners may want to allow people to teleport directly to where they picked.

* Set Location - Some land owners may want specify exactly where people teleporting land regardless of what location they actually picked.

* Disabled - Some land owners may not want anyone teleporting to their land at all

Point to point is not going to be the end of the world.

It shouldn't affect telehub land owners much (the smart ones at least). The writing has been on the wall for a while now and they should have a contingency plan.

It's not going to ruin the map and make it pointless. It may actually make it more valuable.

People are going to have to build or sell something of good quality instead of relying on artificially generated traffic. This is a good thing.

The artificial zoning isn't going to be destroyed. Things may spread out but stores are still going to pop near other stores.

Do this.

Thank you,

I find your lack of economic knowledge disturbing.

Maybe they were thinking, wtf are telehubs? They make no sense in a completely digital world. Imagine if you had to go to Yahoo and click through links before you found the webpage you were looking for.

Rockin, can't wait for P2P.

*runs off to Yahoo to pitch idea of "link hubs" and prohibiting direct links to pages.

"See you just put the content you WANT them to read at the link hub and an arrow tells them which way to scroll for what they actually wanted to go to!"

The simplest and least disruptive alternative would be to allow land owners to drop a "landing pad" on their property... or not. When someone does a P2P, it takes them to the nearest pad. If you don't put one down, nobody gets to teleport there... they end up on one of the neighbor's lots who *does* want the traffic.

This way the "new status quo" would spread gradually, and I'll bet most of the pads end up in existing stores.

I like the idea of being able to put down a pad of some sort to specify the teleport location on my property. I don't know if it's practical for LL to implement, but I like the idea.

This feature is acknowledged for development by Linden.

...and there was much rejoicing.
