From: Yumi Murakami I'm not saying that this is what they did - I'm saying that this is what folks here seem to be defending their right to do. It's their right to do whatever they want -- it's a privately held company. That said, I still think it was pretty juvenile of Brent to lick the last two slices of pizza so Jeska wouldn't eat them. I mean, like that was gonna work? From: someone And as for the implication it's not important enough - no-one's stopping them improving the MOTD. They could have a tabbed information browser there if they wanted. Ooo, wouldn't that be an effective way of communicating with every resident! You can bet the Lindens never thought of that, and if somehow the suggestion were channeled by some sleep-deprived grid monkey high on a quart of Red Bull and endorphins elicited by forum beatings, they'd never give it any consideration. Because if they finally gave you what you wanted, you wouldn't write, you wouldn't call . . . BTW, Chip, sorry bout the bronchitis. You oughta bug report that.

From: Chip Midnight It does, and you do receive exactly the same service, according to the terms of service you agreed to, as everyone else. Anything else not covered by the TOS was never promised to you, nor in any way implied. You're getting exactly what you pay for. It ain't gonna fly, Chip. All of these things have lawsuit written all over them, and if LL doesn't pay attention and institute reasonable policy regarding such things, it's going to bring down this house of cards, and possibly sooner rather than later. coco

See, this is where I get annoyed at your suggestion. By your logic, Squagmire shouldn't have developed InfoNet because she'd be insulting the Lindens' intelligence by thinking that, if it was needed, they wouldn't have already done it themselves.

From: Chip Midnight Unbelievable. If you were my kid I'd give you a lecture about selfishness and spank you. Ah. So this is why so many threads in these forums degenerate into "anger courting" between Coco and four or five others. Get a den, for God's sake.

I have no doubt that Squagmire developed InfoNet because she enjoyed the challenge of creating it, not because she expected a reward for it. That's the only viable reason to create anything in Second Life. Anything else is gravy and expectations of recognition or reward will only set you up to be disappointed a lot and cheapen your experience.

Give it up, Yumi. You lost. All that's left for us now is redundancy, personal attacks, and one-liners written across pictures of bedraggled pie-eating kitties with their tails on fire.

From: Chip Midnight I have no doubt that Squagmire developed InfoNet because she enjoyed the challenge of creating it, not because she expected a reward for it. If that really is the case, then any issue of her having been rewarded for providing the service becomes moot. All she's being rewarded for is happening to have enjoyed the correct thing, whereas someone else gets penalised just for having a different opinion about what is enjoyable.

From: Yumi Murakami whereas someone else gets penalised just for having a different opinion about what is enjoyable. Huh? How is anyone being penalized when they were never owed anything in the first place? Someone else getting something that you didn't and were never promised isn't a penalty. To claim that it is only shows the selfishness, greed, or envy of the claimant. If I'm standing on the street corner next to someone else and a third person happens to wander up and hand them a dollar what business is that of mine? I have not just been cheated out of a dollar. This mindset completely boggles my mind.

This mindset completely boggles my mind. I think it's perfectly sensible. If people are going around giving out dollars, and you don't get one, then naturally you are going to know why didn't get one so that maybe you can get one next time.

From: Persephone Phoenix Why, are you writing them, Kris? Doh! forgot, I'd better not ask. It's Seeeeeecret! I'd write a 'Worst of SL' list no problem! I'd like to write a 'fucktards of SL' list too. People to steer clear of. And I couldn't give a fuck who cries about it or thinks it's wrong or unfair. It'd be my personal opinion, just like this tourbus list is someone's personal opinion (granted I wouldn't need to be anonymous, I couldnt give a shit who dislikes me ). But then if I wrote it I hardly think the Lindens would sanction and distribute it
