I scoff at the lot of them. And anyone that defends them, even though I'm sure there are a few decent and well-rounded folks amongst the mob. You are the company you keep. Stand fucking up and think for yourselves. As much as I like sheep, I prefer them four-legged and wooly.

Nuff said?

if this was in anyway directed at me, I think you should see the SA forums as a whole, and not judge them by the assholes that come to SL (and many are good people)

Crashing a the grid was no accomplishment, and when OL addressed me in SA forums, I told him what he did was nothing to brag about as the formula was around for at least 6 months on how to do it

I have argued with them on SA forums as much as I have with SL forum peeps. I am not in the group to be a sheep. I am Mr Buck the System imho (and nolan who thinks i run up down staircases to prove a point), whatever the system is. I just think the SA forums are funny (really funny at times) and I do think SOME (not all) of W-Hats antics were funny and short circuited those who are so set in thier ways to see beyond their noses. I think, especially SL, needs that to some extent to prepare the oldies with the presumed influx of less civilized newbies.

So while you may have basis to say "you are the company you keep," bear in mind not all are inbred with the flock and some are just there to observe and be entertained.

I joined SA forums this last week. I dont agree with everything i see there, but damn if there arent funny things happening on thier forums. And to be honest, that forum is 100's of times more entertaining than this forum, and even more diverse.

There are plenty of assholes in the united states, does that make every citizen of the united states assholes?

No..it wasn't directed at you. I think you at least reason out the sides and have a good grasp on why and what.

It makes 60% of them assholes and the other 10% that defend them assholes as well. :)

And a train wreck is always exciting. Doesn't mean you should go kick the injured people. It does mean that you should go help them.

Surely you aren't claiming that upon passing a car wreck, u dont slow down rubber neck and gawk?

Ty for your kind words, but human nature is staring at a car wreck. SL and SA can be a car wreck at times.

Sure..I look to see what is going on..but it gives me no thrill. Looking at the warm summer wind blowing through the leaves of a tree is far more of a thrill. I look, evaluate, and take action if needed. If I see someone staggering away from a car wreck, I don't grab my video camera, I grab whatever I think can help and I try to do what I can.

I've seen plenty of car wrecks, plenty of human suffering. Far too much. I help how I can. But if I have my choice, my free choice, of views, give me a beach with the tide coming in,,sunny or stormy, or give me a coyly smiling lady as she slips her painties down past that point of no return. Give me a child grinning and excited cause he saw a strange bug. Bullies and arrogance and self-chosen ignorance are the bad things in life, not the good.

Lordfly was banned from SA because he brought drama into the thread. The thread title is "Second Life, Second try. Dont drama this up.." Drama is bannable on SA, unlike here. The previous attempt at a new thread resulted in inter goon drama from when the splinter group SOMETHING AWFUL DOT COM was formed. The thread was closed and we started a new drama free thread, in which the mod of the games forum posted that the next person to drag drama into the thread would be banned. Guess what happened!

This is all public information, and I heartily encourage anyone to read and sign up for a forums account if it is your kind of thing. The humor is definitely off the beaten path, but it is very enjoyable to me and many others.

And mulch why are you simultaneously defending and dissing the SL thread on SA? Do you want to be my friend?

Weekly world news

I thought weekly world news was an obvious gimmick tabloid? All the other tabloids have things like "JESSICA SIMPSON HAD AN AFFAIR?!" but weekly world news is always talking about how people have slugs in their ear that control peoples minds. Defining drama is subjective, which is probably part of why it's not policed here.

Drama is also part of the human condition, we're not W-obots.

Seems to me that SA/W-Hat likes to throw that word around a lot. Too often it's simply used as a device to dismiss, out of hand, somebody's points, at least on these forums.

Basically, SA mods can ban and delete anything or anyone who's opinions they don't like. Gee..sounds like a swell improvement over the SL forums.

I am ignorant of SA protacal, but the first person who asked me upon my arrival if i wanted to be thier frind on SA did so with a pink limp wristed emoticon. forgive me if i dont gush at your offer.

and in case u only glanced over what i have said so far, or are somewhat illiterate, I said the HAROLD was the shit magazine. I said SA forums, for the most part, said respect SL for what it is and you will have a better time.

The harold, however, accused the SA forums of trying to teach people how to be hidden griefers, which is patently false. Even though i was drawn and quartered in SA forums, I still think the harold outright lied in their summery of the SA SL thread. No one encouraged griefing nor told people how to get away with it. Please reread, despite my less than warm welcome in SA, I defended the posts.

no weekly world news is "jessica Simpson abducted by aliens". The harold is a bunch of bullshit, and the proof can be seen in the SA forums as how the harold portrayed them. The forums were less than kind to lordfly and myself, but there was certainly no info on how to infiltrate and grief SL in those threads. From what I read, many many goons enjoy SL and respect the platform, even if their use differs from the majority of SL only folks.

I defended SA forums (despite being flamed when I debuted). I can take shit talking all day long, what someone thinks of me means nothing.
but please dont misquote me

the harold= worm infested dogshit lying rectal warts

SA forums = many assholes, but no organized griefing and many hilarious posts.

please reread what I have written thus far. SA forums, as juvenile and assholey as they can be, dont totally lie and call it journalism (like the sleaze bag harold). SA forums is miles ahead of that rag the harold that would be lucky if i wiped my bloody ass with a printout

and u W-Hat hating Slers, realize, I been on SA forums for less than a week. If you believe the harold and think SA is an organized grief institution, you are a fucking idiot who is prolly not smart enough to breathe.

the sad thing about SA forums is u essentially got banned for signing your post (and i got reamed for that too)

The SA forums are huge. There are absolutely tons of people posting there. If you go watch GBS, you will notice a thread can get scrolled off the front page in a matter of a few minutes. In this kind of atmosphere, it is very easy for annoying fads to get blown way out of proportion. Likewise, there is a lot of natural pressure to cut down on extraneous content - posts that are too long and wordy, having a large sig, and of course signing your posts when we can already see who you are. In fact, sig posting is off by default, just to help keep the place more streamlined. Personally I think that's great, considering how huge the threads get. It makes for a much easier reading experience.

Think of it this way. Let's say you have a powerful car and you are trying to merge onto the freeway. Do you A) firewall the throttle, enter the traffic stream at 100MPH, and cut in front of four cars to get to the fast lane - or B) take a slower, more cautious approach, keeping situational awareness and being respectful of the other drivers? If you get an account on SA and start posting right away, and you don't read the rules, and you don't make any attempt to educate yourself about the culture, and you don't take the hints 10 people are trying to drop you, well, you MIGHT JUST be doing it wrong.

So, you can get banned for too long of a post.
You can get banned for too short of a post.
You can get banned for signing your name.
You can get banned for having a sig.
You can get banned for typing too fast.
You can get banned for "causing drama".
You can also get banned by having an account at SomethingAwful.com's forums!

If a forum is getting too large, you do what people have been doing in USENET for over 30 years: you split the conversation up. It's pretty easy. It's even easier with forum software.

The culture on the SA forums seems to be dead baby jokes, calling people fags, mistyped sentences, being 12, going "omfg ppl r idiots" and posting horrific images online.

Being called "faget" twenty times is not a hint, it's a 12 year old being a troll.

The mods at the SA forums have no impetus to make the community better; indeed, it's in their best interests to ban you at random because it costs you ten bucks to get another account.

Actually it wouldn't surprise me if they had a program that randomly banned people every day, like ten people. It'd be funny, see? And then they could post a dead fetus on the banning page so everyone could see it.

Come on guys, it's a joke!

You got banned for making an ass of yourself. I've already explained why - you didn't seem to spend much time learning about the place, you just posted in the one thread. In fact your opening line in the post that got you banned was a snide comment about the SA forums community. You're like that guy who visits someone at their house, and the house rules say no shoes inside, but you insist that that's a silly rule and you ought to be able to wear your shoes in every room of their house. This is why people trolled you in the thread.

Sounds an awful lot like the way SA folks behave when they arrive in SL.

This forum, is populated chiefly by people with "Mindset A."
The Something Awful forums are chiefly populated by people with "Mindset B."
The Anarchy Online forum, is populated chiefly by peoplw with "Mindset C."

Different forums have different rules, standards, and practices. If you don't like the rules, standards or practices of the forum, do not visit the forum, or if you do visit the forum, do not complain about it.

If the Second Life forum had a rule that said "From now on, anyone who discloses personal information will be banned" (oh wai) I bet people would stop posting personal information (or they get banned).

Learn the rules or get the fuck out.

I never read the Herald. The other day however, I was referred to the posting. Among the usual drivel that was to be expected from these malcontents, was this threat from a banned griever :

http://www.dragonscoveherald.com/blog/index.php?p=1003#more-1003

Seems this sicko is openly advocating a conspiracy of defamation of myself and the Mentors group in SL.

Bring it on...... I will be happy to AR her and see to her permabanned.

Or, are you referring to the comments that come below the main article?
