well slap some pictures up on here then

and think ya can maybe help improve the scripting then? i have asked on forusm before for help i get no responces

Matrix Sentinel

This is my attempt at a Sentinel from The Matrix movies. I offered to donate it to the Sci-fi Museum, but it won't link into one piece, so I'm looking for a workaround. Suggestions & criticism welcome.

There's no telling when I'll get around to the details, so I'm going to go ahead and show this pic now. I don't suppose anyone has a spare Gort lying around? :)

I've been enjoying all the stuff people have been posting in this thread.

"Klaatu barada nikto" is the command Klaatu instructs Helen to give to the robot Gort in the movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still".

They're also the words to release the Necromicon in Army of Darkness.

Of course, AoD's quote is a parody of that famous movie. With them recently remaking War of the Worlds, and similar movies, The Day The Earth Stood Still looks ripe for the taking.

Back to your regularly-scheduled broadcasting.

I'm new here, so please forgive my ignorance. But as I understand it, it takes a crapload of primitives to make a really cool item....but the drawback is the item will still be in several pieces, and cant use scripts? So is there a limit on links to make an item..and is there a limit on the number of prims before scripting is no longer valid? an if so...what are the limits.

Now for the part that pertains to sci fi....Who's making the MechWarriors ?

thanks

That depends. Sometimes you can save untold prims with a good texture. The Valley Forge would be at least twice the prims if I hadn't used textures to sneak large portions of it. It's still not "Physable" (able to use phsyics, 31 prim limit there). But I could make it move, albeit a bit jerkily with kinematic motion.

You're right of course. It used to be a rare craft, but now there are mecha makers a plenty, and they're all infinitely talented. Though there are many more whom I've probably forgotten, some of the major makers I know: Kage Seraph, Chain Plisskin, Mordred Lehane, Tyrant Ludd, and Arkanto Apollo. Some specialize in replica work while others create original craft. The field has definitely matured a lot since I began experimenting in the sandboxes last year.

Anyways, here's a pic of my newest mech:

Jillian, I'm sorry to have to point out your mistake, but in fact "Klaatu barada nikto" is from a banner in Alan's cubicle in the movie TRON. See? :D

Well, I hate to have to point out YOUR mistake, but that's actually John Sheridan of Babylon 5, not Alan1. ;)

Heh, it must have been those bigass glasses that confused me. The weird thing is both Alan and Sheridan look a lot like that TRON dude, but he's just a program!
