Interesting idea, yet how could LL enforce it?

LL would have to have the client perform a startup check for running files in the background then either terminate SL or the running apps. This solution is only workable for the LL approved build, anyone who can mod the open source client can disable this check. Even if LL does this, they would have to scan for not only commercial apps but also free apps that can change voices, not to mention hardware solutions (using an Optimus Prime voice changer toy piped into the mic in jack) is one example of a hardware solution.

Side note, if someone actually tries to use an Optimus Prime voice changer toy and couples the output wrong to your soundcard and fries it, I take NO responsibility. :D

Its interesting to note, a useful addition to the voice feature, would be to have included tone (bass and treble) controllers for each user as well as, volume. I find people say my voice is very deep and makes their bass woofers vibrate, yet some I speak to, almost split my ear drums with their high pitched shrill (and not all are female lol).

If memory serves, SoundBlaster used to supply sound profiles that you could swap in and out of the boards memory, somewhat in the same way enviroments are used today (which are only one way), these could change all the wave sounds, in and out. I remember playing with the small programme that came bundled with the board and created a 'alien' voice... anyone else remember these?

the KX driver I mentioned earlier is just about like that, but it does it at a more techy level, not very newbie friendly (but it is used mainlly with SoundBlaster cards, so it might be SB has some driver or app to download from their site that could do similar stuff...)
