Ban voice changers >:#

I gota agree that it is retarded to ask linden lab to ban things they have no control over. You can't ban voice changers because there is no way to prove someone is using it, even if you record it. Recordings can be faked too. What will people think of next? Ban top-hats? Humans? Clubs? How about we ban people who want other people and things banned because they don't personally like them? I think that will salve the whole problem.

Lol, I see people sometimes forget to think about what they are posting and just post a new thread. Hmm... voice changers... There is a certain fun to it. Being able to have a funny sounding voice or maybe something that would be cool for a RP situation. I don't mind a voice changer. Lol, I think the guy did this cause he found out a certain someone wasn't the same gender they portrayed in SL as they are irl. Anyways. You can always call the person on an actual phone. They still have those. lol, Relics, I know. Anyways stop making up posts like this. Actualy think if posting this would help the actual progress of the first look viewers. You can't even stop that stuff cause it all happen client side on thier comp which I think you can make something like that not work if it is all done within windows and junk. lol, yes, drinking and trying to post. Anyways, you want to be sure about gender and age? Stop messing around in those areas for now till they get age verification working and then require your av to be you irl. Lol, like someone said before. They are not gay for having sex with a female av that might be a male irl because it is rp.

this makes no sense its like demanding that i speak in a certain way if i use voice. If i want to sound like a girl and I"M a guy this is a place where people roleplay etc then there is nothing wrong with it. Seems to me what you want is for no one to disguise their voice in any way and speak as they do say to their family so that you can find out exactly what they sound like for your own means this is not the purpose of voice chat so now it starts you must use voice and speak with no fake accents voice changers and exactly like you would in real life? I"m sorry would you also demand I create an avatar that looks exactly like I do in real life too?

I think this was a setup. The OP hasn't been back since the 1st post. That's Ok, it was an interesting discussion. Celebrity Voice packs? Now that would make me go out and buy a microphone thingy or whatever else I'd need to run Voice.

People will need a celbrity voice pack when they use those pictures of Angelina Jolie as the input for Philip's "Make your Avatar look like your RL pictures" utility.

I plan on using Kathleen Turner myself, with Roseanne's voice. Or maybe Arnold Schwarzeneggers.

I personally have not used voice in-game yet ( might try it out soon) as i tend to prefer skype..but i have played online games where voice was part of it and it was pretty cool whether it was your real voice or not. Also if someone does not want to use voice it never deferred me from talking to them I had no probs talking or typing depending on the person. If you dont' want to use voice in game then just dont' use it. You have that option. I know many of my friends would not have a problem typing to people who do not want to use voice. This is a roleplaying game which means you can do what you want whether its to use voice or not.. or to be a dude or a chick or any other type of avie. If someone is bothering you just ignore them or mute them.. its that simple. You can't force ppl to play the way you want them to cause this game is about free choice and so deal with it. I also agree with being able to use voice changer as there are so many different kinds of avvies out there and your RL voice may not match your persona. If you don't want ppl to know your RL voice then either dont' use voice or use a voice changer. I choose to tell whom i want about my RL. I don't tell many just my close friends on the game. As this is a GAME. I think thats about it for now.

I can just imagine someone being banned for sounding like a robot, then it turns out they had thyroid cancer and had to use a voice modulator to talk. I bet someone would feel really good about that.

Totally Impossible!!!! According the Anti-Voice Folks, NO other handicap exists in SL other than deafness!!!

Hunny it's not that they don't exist. It's that their handicaps are obviously not rendering the game impossible to play, like it would be for someone deaf if communicating via voice became the standard. Or if not completely impossible, then miserable due to the stigma of either having to use a computer generated TTS voice to talk back with, or saying they can't voice and being hounded and humiliated.

You wouldn't even be hearing this from me if it was day 1 and everyone was first deciding what communication medium would be standard. My position is based on the fact that tons of people with a certain handicap in common chose SL over other competitors possibly SOLELY due to the fact that voice was not a part of it. Those people have helped support and shape the community and I don't think they should be left in the cold because noobs with free accounts want to yap about nothing in particular.

I did want to add I noticed something.

I've been using voice since Beta, and the firstlook came out. Now that places like Violet are voice, I'm noticing something among my friends, and even, alarmingly, with myself. When we are chatting on voice, especially if there's a decent sized group of us, the text chat definitely gets ignored. I have to remind myself to focus on it as well as what people are saying or what I am saying.

For awhile my mic got screwed up, and I was hanging out in Violet. I could still hear everyone else, but I had to reply with standard chat. Communication did not work, and after awhile I got frustrated and left, and these weren't just random people, they were my friends. It wasn't, I don't think, intentional. It's just how it is.

Granted, I still use standard chat for the most part, but I think even people who say that may find that the standard is changing.

True, I had a similar thing happening to me. While talking in voice to a friend, my sister dropped in and used text. B/c I was focusing on the conversation I didn't read it, until she yelled at me (we were in the same house) "You're ignoring me!!" I was so ashamed and yet alarmed at the same time....I don't know how this will develop in the future but I am concerned.

I agree Xeno there are voicers groups popping up and instead of 20 people talking to each other around the Bigpond BBQ now there are 15 Voicers over there and 5 non voicers at BBQ plus the Newbs asking why everyone is silent.
It does work well when it is usefull but the segregation is a pain
I have seen this in WoW and other games when Skyping other players not in our group talking to us and being ignored, till they stand infront of us waving their arms jumping up and down for attention.

There's also Forgetfulness. XD
