My pet peeve are people who don't respect privacy, even if it hits them with a hammer. To explain what I mean: My sim is open to the (verified) public. I have a castle in one corner, but alas it's above the ban lines that keep out unverified residents. It's also meant for public access, with a public dungeon in the cellars. All the space I need for myself are three little rooms on the upper floor. The doors to these rooms are scripted to whisper a friendly message when anyone who is not on the access list tries to open them. A few days ago I was standing naked in my office, working on some skins. Of course I didn't want anyone to walk in. I heard the door whisper "This is a private room, please don't attempt to enter it". Nothing unusual; lots of visitors try to search every room of the castle, but usually they respect the privacy of my office. After the door had been clicked several times, someone outside shouted "some1 let me in plz?". I answered, through the closed door, that this room was private, as the talking door had already told him. Next chat message "what are u up to?" When I didn't react, he IMed me ("u there or not?" . I cammed around and saw him sitting in one of my office chairs, inside the locked room. Standard procedure: freeze, eject and ban. Only banned him from the castle area though. Of course he instantly complained via IM: "how can u catch people like that" (guess he meant the freezing). I patiently explained the reasons for freezing and banning him: door locked + informing him that he should stay out, him breaking and entering. His reaction: "some people here are crazy", which earned him a sim-wide ban. He sent further insults and threatened me with an AR, until I finally had to mute him. Folks like him are my pet peeve. People who expect everyone to immediately answer their questions, view everything in SL as free content that has to be accessible and complain when they get thrown out after breaking in.

more peeves...
07-14-2007 22:26
People who have NO manners, who constantly think they are owed everything and then turn into griefers when you won't cater to their ever whim.
People who have no respect for themselves or others, and end up treating you like you are lower than dirt, or trying to make you feel that way.
Other pet peeves are people who tend to think that they are better than others. COME ON! Get over yourselves!
I could go on..but I think that's enough for now

Perfect timing. I just posted this to the land sales forum:
Misleading listing descriptions
Folks, if you are selling a plot is that is all water with no land above the waterline, please do not list it as "Waterfront", "Oceanfront" or "Beachfront". If you are selling a plot is that is all land with no water, please do not list it as "Waterfront", "Oceanfront" or "Beachfront". Thank you.

I saw a lot of that, where all parcels were listed with the original description from before they were subdivided. I once saw a whole sim of 512s, every one of which was marked "PROTECTED BORDER!!!"

An all-water-plot is rather Underwaterfront.

My pet peeve has to be griefers. SL has enough problems with unintentional inconvenience or thoughtless but non-malicious behaviour by residents. So those who deliberately come here to upset others get my top vote.

http://www.rebirthed.com/guildsnapshots/outsideofrd.jpgI could lie and say my pet peeve is the people with ad farms. To be truthful though, I don't really care enough about most of them to be upset. The one in that picture with the arrow pointed towards it though, drives me batty and has been driving me batty for weeks. For reference the only thing for sale on that 32m is the rotating *sign* that's ugly as sin in front of my shop. The land itself isn't for sale- I already bought out the two 16ms to the right (where I put my tree!). I'd pay extortion for the land or even for a semi courteous ad (like the one behind it, which is that stack of three in the sky, all are above my building- that one doesn't bother me.) But that one plot has been getting meaner and meaner. Started off 3 small boxes that didn't blink or rotate. Then they started to rotate. Now there's the big spinning, full bright, for sale... reminding me every time I see it that the land is NOT for sale at all. grrrr.

Regarding Sales and Advertising...
07-15-2007 08:00
I simply wish that when new product is listed here in the forums that vendors include: 1. Descriptive title (we all click based on a description that makes sense ie "black goth skirt" . If I'm interested in such, I'll click regardless of how it looks. 2. Photos... yes, include photos with the post. I'm not going to log in to SL to look at one item I MAY be interested in. There's always plenty I'm interested in based on a description, but that much time I don't have. 3. Descriptive description. It helps. What does it all do? What are the features? A one line "I'm having a Sale this weekend, here's the SLURL" is not encouraging. 4. Optional -- links to SLX store and SLURLs and even a web site if have. I probably would have bought way more in SL if vendors provide descriptive and complete information. That's all. But maybe I'm an oddball.

hmm... I have a few besides the ones that were mentioned.
* Tip jars that announce how much you tip. I usually tip reasonably when I can afford to, but sometimes I'm a little short and have less to give. Its intimidating to offer a piddly amount on the heels of a big spender.
* Linden trees that bend over to unnaturual angles and shifting ground cover.
* People that spam group chat with complaints about someone that they say is spamming group chat when the offender only said one sentence. (and no, I'm not the one they complain about)
* Dance floors that make the invisible prims of your shoes appear as bright colors.

I concur! Other issues: * People who rez stuff in build-enabled areas and then don't clean up after themselves. * Naked noobs, especially the ones who like to bump into you, over and over again. * Guys, not necessarily newbies, who try to pick you up in entirely inappropriate places. Like, if I'm shopping for shoes, I probably don't want to go off and cyber with you. Actually, I probably don't want to at all, but if I'm someplace sex-oriented, I'll at least be more understanding if you ask. *Anything with excessive unending particle displays.

My pet peeves are minor - I really enjoy SL. But since you asked:
1. I don't care for RL photos in world. It's great to use photos to make a realistic texture, but I don't like seeing ads or artworks that are RL photography. It temporarily destroys my suspension of disbelief.
2. Texture vendors that sell only expensive packs that you may only need one item from, and also the singualr lack of window textures for sale in the entire metaverse. That topic is being groused about on another thread.
3. Disorienting dance floors that seem to spin around and blink. Enough of these already! I'd like to see something different -- like a dance floor that slowly rotates in concentric rings carrying the dancers with it so you are move past different people all the time. I don't know if this is possible however or be too laggy.
4. Camping. I don't even look at the top of the search lists as these places mostly seem to be trashy and over hyped. I move down to the bottom of the list and work my way up. I usually find some wonderful and unusual places this way.
I'm sure I can think of other peeves, but really I'm having a great time in world. -- KC

True that. My first day in world I was in a shoe shop and some moron kept propositioning me. Hell, the way I looked back then, I wouldn't sleep with myself. Don't bother me when I'm buying shoes! (Although it can be almost as pleasurable as sex,)

Hhhhhmmmmmm......this thread is far too tempting to pass up. I have to agree with the naked newbies and all of Ann's list, and Khilah's (Hi Khilah *waves*), and I had NO idea about the puppy boots! That is shocking! Sorry Rha...I'm guilty of the "no avie foot photo in the shoe poster" pet peeve of yours. It's just that...well, um..the av foot is so dang ugly! Unless it's completely covered up..it's just a hideous flipper like appendage that has no business in a display poster. Now for some new ones.... - People who IM me with demands. There is something to be said for being polite, or simply asking a question rather then stomping your foot and throwing a fit like a two year old who was denied a cookie. - Having note cards and/or LM dropped on me from complete strangers advertising their new mall/casino/sex club...etc, or receiving spam IM's offering vendor space in one of the aforementioned locations. How about a "Hello there! May I send over some info?" Or something similar. Makes me feel so used - But my number one overall pet peeve: When you've answered a question on the forums and someone comes along a bit later and answers the same question saying pretty much the same thing you did nearly verbatim. Huh? What's the point? No really....why? Is it a post count thing? I just don't get it. *sigh* Have a fabulous weekend all! Eat pie. ~Ari

My pet peve is not that bad but it drives me crazy!
When I see a beautiful outfit I want to buy and I also see the boots or shoes that the model is wearing with it in the picture and I dont know where to get the footwear to complete the look!
I mean why could there not be a little note saying where the shoes came from...
Its so frustrating!
