I said this today: From: someone You know that by some people you two are already cheating on him? "Shared intimacy." Others, even just thinking about sleeping with another is cheating. Yet others will say that your AVs are incapable of cheating because neither of them has a penis so sexual intercourse in the missionary position can not take place.
Further than even that that, sexual intercourse can take place and it still isn't cheating, so long as you have prior permission or the person knows about before or during. Should this fall under the morality thread? What are your thoughts on this? Nota Bene! I bloody well know that it is when you need to hide it! I want to know when YOU consider that it needs to be hidden or concealed from you. |

The moment the actions, and associated lies and deception hurt the other person. If you don't know or aren't sure, yeah, you have to ask. After all, if you have permission, you're not violating a trust, and have no reason to hide it via lies and deception.
If that means the moment you think about it, you start hurting the other person by denying affections, saying/doing bad things, whatever, you're cheating.
"Cheating" means you are breaking a an established rule, even if it is an implicit one. If you have an open relationship, then, theoretically, there is no rule to break, and it's not cheating. However, in practice, even with "open" relationships, there are often ground rules (or should be, if the people involved have any wisdom whatsoever), and you still can "cheat".

If it is understood between two people in an intimate relationship that the relationship is exclusive, and one of them is intimate with someone else, then it's cheating whether the other partner knows about it not.
The grey area is what was described as "thinking about it". It's normal human nature to fancy being intimate with attractive people of (usually) the opposite gender, and very few can avoid that. So such thoughts passing through the mind can't be regarded as cheating because it's normal and, therefore, understood that it happens. It can't be avoided.
Some people, including me, would argue that, if an action takes place in the heart, then the person has done it. From that point of view, getting into the imagination of intimacy with a person means that it has been done in the heart, and is cheating - imo.

when one of the people involved feels it's cheating (or would if they knew). ie, it depends on what the people involved believe. yes, it really is that simple (and complex)

I didn't see my option up there, but:
If you feel the need to hide it from your existing partner. Even if it's a friendship with another person, if you feel the need to hide it, then there is something wrong and it might be that you're in denial about cheating.

If someone who is married in RL, has a "committed" relationship here, with their main av......then they develop an Alt, which happens to be the opposite of their RL gender, or main av gender.....then they have a "committed" relationship using the Alt....but it's Roleplay......
