Yeah, i've found this when making alts, the first place I teleport to becomes home, no permission check.

Hey gang I have to tell you I was right..well almost..I was out by a few metres..it did look like Barcola..actually it was Grignano..about 10 metres away..just over the sim border.

I'd post a picture but that would be hugely complicated..suggest you drop by to see for yourselves..Grignano 8, 253, 26..oh the lag is truelly appalling by the way..can't wait to get out of here..!!

yes I know the jpg says Grignano..but until ten minutes ago I (and let's be honest..you..) didn't know Grignano was right next door to Barcola..which it is..!!

Anyway..recently I seriously considered buying some hugely expensive land in Barcola..I'm quite glad I didn't now.

Actually its even worse - I thought the whole place was just Nova Albion - but meh! The things we miss lol!

Nova Albion is the city made up of the sims Grignano, Miramare, Sistiana, and Barcola.

Miramare was my "home" when I started.
I quickly learnt to fly up high the moment I logged in.

Cen - If you are a member of the Forum group inworld, you can set your Home to any of the Cartel land. Then you don't have to worry about going back there.

I don't understand what this means at all.

There is a Forum Cartel group in-world. If you're a member of it, then you can go to any land owned by that group and set it as your home, which would make going back to the bad place unnecessary.

To do this:

Open 'search', and click the 'places' tab. Then search for 'Forum Cartel Hangout'. Teleport to the only match.

Once there, go to the top bar in your SL window, and select 'world' followed by 'set home here' or something similar.

Then whenever you TP home, or log in to Home, or anything like that, you'll end up at the Forum Cartel Hangout, instead of the place with that guy.

Damn! - these are the time when I wish we could get a posse together and go teach this guy some manners.

Cen:

Open Search. Click on the Groups tab. Enter "The Forum Cartel" in the search box. When the group info opens up, click the Join button.

Next, teleport to The Forum Cartel Hangout in Allana. (I don't recall if the landmark is in the Group info. If not, do a Places search.)

Once there, go to the Wolrld menu at the top of your screen. Select Set Home To Here.

This will re-set your Home location. The next time you log in, you'll rez at the Hangout.

Background: The Forum Cartel is the in-world group of the regulars who hang out here on the forums. They have group-owned land and a comfy clubhouse in the Allana region on the north continent.

Default on VBoards is a 10 minute editting timer. If you edit after 10 minutes, the message shows. Before 10 minutes, it does not.

This may have been mentioned but the guy was using G-Force or a similar weapon. You can find them in any weapon store in SL. You just point at an AV in mouse-look and hold mouse button.

Its my understanding that it basically puts your av inside an alpha textured container and he is controlling the container not your AV's animation. That is how a lot of orbiters work also, they rez a platform with walls under you and you ride the platform into orbit. As far as TP it must have been his land or he's more than likely member of group owned land.

And the part about him crashing you, I know that when I have had to eject people to the edge of my property they disappear and then come back and ask me how I made them crash. I just pretended that I did it on purpose, but it must be a bug when ejected near a the sim edge.

Its a weapons hud some have that ability. If you are on your own land disable the ability to allow it.

Derbor - I went there just to see what was going on. Didn't bother anybody- just watched. Then I walked down a street to see what else was around and 2 guys shoved me into a pit. Didn't see anybody (they were behind me I guess) but I heard them laughing about it on my open mike line. Wish I had cought some names.
Anyway it started me wondering if I could start a Charlie's Angels kind of group, mostly to protect newbies. It sounds like fun and I've always wanted to be a fem hero.
How do you find out ways to protect your self. I know I can report them but I'd like to carry it a bit farther and let them know what it's like to be the 'pushee'

Being a Defender of the Meek and a Champion of Justice is great fun...but it is also against the Terms of Service. If you try it, you are very likely to get AR'd by the griefers you "bring to justice".

Because it's very easy for such do-gooders to slide over the line and start annoying residents with "upholding the law", the various groups and individuals who are roleplaying SL "police" or "superheros" are often held in very low regard by the general population as well.

I don't recommend taking the law into your own hands.

By the way, if you don't see who shoved you, check Pushes and Hits in your top menu. It will tell you. Or get a MystiTool. It will tell you that, in addition to having some great defensive capabilities.

This isn't sufficient if you've given his object animate permissions. No way to rescind those.
