There is a guy who keeps controlling my character..

I bumped into him a couple times now, his name is (name removed) He voice chats in a very creepy whispery british voice saying to stay out of his area, whenever I use "Teleport Home" to the default mainland place. He points at my character and can control me in any way and wherever I move. Then he can force me to crash, or teleport somewhere else.. he generally states all that he's doing ON the voice chat as he does it (e.g. "Now to lift you up, and throw you away, you piece of trash" or "Time to send you away" then he teleports me) and everyone in his group sits back and laughs..

How is he doing this?

Change your home location, mute him, and don't go back there. You could also AR him, I think, for harassment. But easy answer, change your home location to somewhere else, and don't go back there.....

Did you accept any item from him? Did you accept a Animate Avatar from him (Like a hug or something)? Are you running the standard release client?

Detach all items, and re-log, and see if he can still do that. Also, make sure your anti virus is up to date, and run a scan on your system just in case.

You pretty much had to have given him permission to animate your avatar at some point.

It is possible he is using a push-device to move you around. I have a spell system with this capability too. For the teleport to work though it sounds like you are on land he owns. If he owns the land then he can teleport you home and that is it.
There is nothing to my knowledge another person can give you that allows them to do a true teleport of you - there are simply no script functions for this. If it is a teleport to a destination in the same sim and you do not see the teleport screen then it is really a push from his device.
The final possibility is that the person has a modified client viewer which has exploited some part of the functionality available to the viewer to allow this to happen.

Not really. I've had this happen to me before. Somebody was showing me something they coded. There were no scripted permissions given. It threw my av around like a ragdoll.

You may or may not have realized it was him when at work when you accepted something. Objects and drop-down menus of all kinds are suspects here.

But yes, detach EVERYTHING. Then put them back one by one until you find the culprit or culprits. And do AR. Every time. You'll be doing yourself and everyone else a favor. Grief-kiddies are almost good citizens compared to a creep like this.

The pushing around stuff is easily explained (at least on push-enabled land).

But the teleport thing: I definitely agree with the thorough virus scan. And this is definitely grounds for an AR--it would just be nice to have enough information to know whether he's got some packet-injection exploit or some nasty trojan on your client machine. (Theoretically, either one could cost him a very great deal of RL trouble.)

But either way, pretty extreme, so... curious about that teleport thing: does it really feel like a teleport? Screen goes black, little progress bar comes up, hokey whooshing sound--that whole bit? And you end up in some distant sim?

If it is a push-device then the only thing you can really do is move away. Perhaps no-script, no-push type land will help. I have a system that does this and whilst that piece of functionality was a by product of why I bought the device, nevertheless it gives me the ability to lift, move and throw avatars without gaining their permission.

That bit confused me too - perhaps he thinks this is the default mainland place because his avatar rezzed there but in fact it is someone else's land? I have had avatars rezz into my place who claim to have just logged in for the first time.

That is definitely a welcome area, just cannot remember the name of it right now. Nobody should be able to force teleport you anywhere to a different sim from there.

Please could you tell us if the black progress screen was shown to you during the teleport or did you just get taken to the new place without that?

EDIT: ooops the name is on the screen shot - yes Nova Albion is a welcome area.

Oh dang! I remember that place, but can't remember the name of it for the life of me. It is a quite old arrival point for newbies, and had always been a hangout for a rather immature crowd that changes over time. It also used to be popular with the more immature sorts of griefers, which I used to like to introduce to the wonders of outer space. Haven't been there in a long time, though.

The teleport didn't show the black screen, it was in the same area, but still far away.

Ahh mystery solved then - he pushed you into the new area far away but in the same sim. Everything he has done has been with a push-device. Nova Albion is a restricted push area too and his device still pushed you significantly.

You can AR him - AR him often until he gets dealt with.
Other than that just find another place to hang out because there is not much else you can do.

If it's push, can't she just sit? As long as she doesn't click on the screen and perhaps enable an invisible attack (which she could detect with Show Invisible - cmd-alt-T - and use to file an AR).

hmmmm its a possibility - not sure it works though.
Even if it does if the person is targetting the OP all the time then they are just going to wait until they want/have to move - nobody stays sitting all the time - that gets boring. You may be right though, sitting might work...

I'm not sure but that could be Barcola or Miramare, I've been over there lately..hmm not sure..lots of new arrivals..could be!!
