I just checked, the cuddle pillows I made have lost the scripts and menus as wel, hoiwever the copy of the scripts I have in my inventory are still there and I can open them, so all that is realy lost in the end is the configuration, going to be a pain to remake them probably the best thing is make a copy of the scripts offworls just to be sure

Whatever this is, it certainly doesn't affect all MLP-scripted items. I tracked down five MLP 1.2 scripted items in three different sims and they're all still fully populated and functional. So, I dunno if there's some different script involved here or...

In fact is the menu script the one that was removed. They say it was an illegal one, funny, I bought it in slex full perm.
Funny part of this is that they sent a wave removing all scripts because of an abuse report on illegal copy (???????? ) Illegal when SLEX is selling it??????? but yesterday afternoon when we called for a linden to go see a full sim with creations from about 20 people made with copybot, they didnt move a finger to go see.... file an abuse report they said.... and we all know how good an abuse report is, dont we?? if we're lucky in 6 or 8 months they will go see, by then the thief has changed alts and we keep losing.
Am I losing faith in LL? You bet

I've just had a response to the support ticket I submitted this morning regarding my missing MLP scripts:
<-- Hi there,
I'm very sorry to hear about the problems with the inworld items. If you rez the items from your inventory these should contain the scripts as before.
Unfortunately inworld items containing items createdby Eva Capalini have been effected however inventory copies will be uneffected.
Best regards,
Linden Lab Support -->
Not sure what she has done, but she seems to be the av behind the problem.

Am I losing faith in LL? You bet You wouldn't believe the kind of stuff you can sometimes buy on SLEX, and that includes illegal items. They will get removed, sure, but people still put them up and someone might buy something before it's been taken down.

Aspirin, Petroleum, Kleenex, Q-Tips All of these were trade names. The first 2 became so genercised the name was useless. The second two manage to hold on, but still they lose sales due to the way people think about their product.

Just got this group notice: From: someone Linden Lab has now completely removed from the world every illegal copy of the "sexgen" bed following a successful lawsuit of the maker of the original bed, who was subject to copyright theft. Go to the Linden blog to see more info later today, a post is coming.

From: Skell Dagger Just got this group notice: Thanks for sharing that. This will put quite a crimp in the sex industry I bet. Good for Stroker and LL's response though. Content theft has been so out of hand, I hope this is something LL will work on not only when a lawsuit forces their hand.

From: Macphisto Angelus Good for Stroker and LL's response though. I completely disagree with the second part. If LL had any consideration for their customers at all, a law suit wouldn't have been necessary.

Agreed.. which brings me to the second part I said.. I hope they will respond without the need of a lawsuit in the future. But I am glad they took care of this for Stroker's sake.

But I am glad they took care of this for Stroker's sake. I somehow doubt they will change their stance on most products. Stroker has a Trademark on the name Sex Gen, Trademarks are protected even outside of the DMCA I believe. For "simply" copyrighted stuff I believe they do nothing until they get a DMCA / takedown notice. I believe Stroker & Co. had even tried going the DMCA route from what he and his friends had said in threads when this came up around the time of the lawsuit.

Not sure what EC has done, but she seems to be the av behind the problem. Actually, a lot of poseball scripts in general might be missing. I use a basic poseball in all the seats etc in my house, just adding the animation or pose, and changing the notecard for them. Today, when I logged, all of the scripts and configuration notecards from those poseballs were missing, leaving only the animations. I had to rez another of the basic poseballs from inventory, copy the script and notecard from it, and re-set every poseball in my house. I just checked and that basic poseball was made by, yep, EC.

From: Colette Meiji What if there is no easy way to target those? Shouldn't they be able to to search out the grid/inventories etc for the creator's name and delete them all? Or the item UIID? They did when the kiddie porn stuff came up last year. At least it was said they did.

From: Colette Meiji Hmm I wonder if they targeted all objects(or scripts) in the database originally created by certain users who were "infringing" or something to that effect. It's possible, but this poseball was in a set of full-perm dance animations which also have EC listed as the creator. I only ever use the poseball (I deleted the animations, having no use for them), as it's easy to configure: drop in a new pose/animation, edit the notecard, save, and done. The script and notecard was missing from each poseball, but the poseball itself (technically also created by EC, because I didn't rez a new sphere of my own for the poseball) was still there. It's linked to the couch, and having seen this from the OP - From: Sgoobzy Sideways the actual product that i have was named "T.S.Ambilight Design Mod-Copy and resellable 62 animated sexbed" by "EC" its basicly just the inner working part that vanished, but seeing as my bed and klitchen where attached to it , they vanished along with it. - I would have assumed that if you were correct, everything attached to the poseball (ie: the couch and the whole reading corner that I have it linked to) would have vanished along with the script and notecard. It's certainly peculiar. By the by, I'm editing both my posts to include only the initials of the creator. I'm a little wary of those forum rules about naming names. Also editing the post from Sgoobzy Sideways that I'm quoting here, to the same effect.

Skell, I have a full perm copy of a script made by Sitting Lightcloud that I know for a fact is ok to use. (I checked with Sitting once as he is a SL friend). If you want it I will be happy to pass it to you in world.
It works pretty much the same, you drop it into a poseball and drop in the animation. I don't even think you tell a notecard what to do.. the script does the work.

From: Macphisto Angelus Good for Stroker and LL's response though. Content theft has been so out of hand, I hope this is something LL will work on not only when a lawsuit forces their hand. LL doesn't really need a lawsuit to do it, a DMCA should remove *all* infringing content, including everything in-world and in inventory regardless of who owns it while they currently only go after what the infringer has actually rezzed. I don't really see this as a good thing though... It *is* good that Stroker won the lawsuit and reached a hopefully satisfactionary settlement/ruling, but I don't agree with removing things people have bought. How do I know if anything I buy isn't infringing? In some case it might be obvious (ie cheap copies of brand products) and in that case you can argue that people shouldn't cry over loosing something they knew was "stolen" in the first place, but in other cases it's not going to be obvious (ie the recent skin scandal which involved a "well-known/respected" creator) or the creator might not even know they're infringng (ie bought a copy of a stolen texture in a texture store). The selling should stop by alll means, but removing things people have paid for and who aren't responsible for the infringement doesn't hurt the infringer, he/she already ran off with all the ill-gotten money, it only hurts consumers. If LL starts making a habit of removing infringing content from purchaser's inventory I know I'll be extremely hesitant to trust any content creator anymore. There's just no way to prove that what they're selling isn't infringing and won't vanish some time after I buy it.
