From: Nina Stepford ive said people are mentally ill if they insist they live in an exclusive reality of their own.
But maybe they just see more of absolute reality than we 'normal' people do...we can't understand it, so we say there's something wrong with them. Again, that's living by our societally perceived notion of what reality and normalcy are. *shrug*

From: Ann Launay Nice example. OK, I really think tomatoes are disgusting, and my friend really doesn't...what's the reality there? Are they or aren't they? Do I get outvoted if the majority likes them? Wouldn't that just be consensus reality then? Or might reality in general be more complicated than that? I agree to disagree on this, but I think there are a number of different realities...personal, societal, biological, and so on and so forth. They may be part of 'absolute' reality, but I don't believe they have to exist purely within the bounds of it. Personal preferences dont alter reality. Other than the reality that there would be more tomatoes eaten if you liked them, and therefore less tomatoes. Of course the reality is Id probably eat your share to compensate - since I love tomatoes with a passion.

well, i suppose the reality would be that you dont like tomatoes and your mate does. reality might be that 12,437,254,814,047,154,978 people over human history have disliked tomatoes. reality does not make a judgement upon whether tomatoes are disgusting or not. reality is that a tomato is a tomato, and whether you like it or not is dependant upon how you percieve (forbidden word) the tomatoe to be. reality cannot decide because i dont think reality eats tomatoes. you wrapped the entire question in belief and perception, and we were avoiding that i thought. let me try now: a- jfk was killed by lee harvey oswald. b- jfk was not killed by lee harvey oswald. c- both a and b are true demonstrate the duality or reality, show me how both a and b can be reality. From: Ann Launay Nice example. OK, I really think tomatoes are disgusting, and my friend really doesn't...what's the reality there? Are they or aren't they? In my reality, tomatoes give me hives, literally. It's not a personal preference. Shoe?

From: Nina Stepford give me two opposing statements, then demonstrate how both can be true without using words like 'believe and percieve'. again, i have never tried to be the word of god or whatnot. obviously i am stating an opinion. is there a reason i need to keep mentioning that? Oh well, I am out of here. This could go on forever and it is kind of a drag to be exposed to so much negative energy. Lighten up a little Nina, you seem sort of hostile in your postings. The reality is that it would be good for your health to be a little mellower. Good luck to all until the thread becomes locked. Love, Jannae

That is just because it is how you perceive it. If you modified your perception then they no longer would. At least according to some in this thread....

Love, Jannae But it will never truly be locked, for it will always be open in someone's reality.

From: Colette Meiji but that doesnt alter the tomato, or what a tomato is.
Just means you eating them is a bad idea. True but, hives aside, my original point was that personal preferences DO alter the way we as individuals perceive reality.
