Until I met my recent (now deceased in RL) lover I would not have thought I'd ever be interested in partnering officially. Now I know that I (did and) could meet someone to whom I'd commit like that in SL. i just read about that in the other thread. *hugs* i'm sorry for your loss.  _____________________

You aren't from Kentucky? Heh! All my Mother's side of the family are from KY in a teeny town with a population of 360 or so. (True story!) One of my Mother's brothers married his wife when she was 14 - I think he was 17 - had their first child when she was 15 - and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary not long ago. My Mother left home after she graduated from high school at age 16 and went to Ohio where she met my father, then later we moved to Miami so I was raised as a "city girl." When I married at 23, I was considered an "old maid' by my maternal relatives' standards and "too young to get married" by my former husband's family. Ya can't win.  _____________________

I was in mourning for my loss of two real partners. My "professor" gave me reasons to renew my faith in humanity. I will never meet him in reality. I don't need to. He has recreated "reality" for me. Now as he has grown old I "hold" his hand and he has become a mentor and a father to me. I value his advice. I have taken this strange role I agreed to participate in seriously. I think I am a much better woman for this

I am partnered in SL to my RL husband. He is rarely inworld any more, but he is still my partner. I too am partnered to my RL spouse in SL. Partnering our avatars was one of the first things we did when I created my SL account. We are seldom in world at the same time in the same place, but our profile partner status makes it very clear we are "taken" and hopefully wards off romantic overtures by other avatars! _____________________
