Can we not be included when linden labs talk about "the community" ?

add me...i don't agree at all. As far as I'm concerned if people achieve membership in SL they are adults...nuff said! (if not, well that is LL's problem not mine)

The day Linden Labs actually asks me my opinion they can count me as part of the community they consulted (assuming I agreed!). Until then, no.

Agreed, nobody has asked me my opinion, I haven't even had a small customer satisfaction survey from LL. I don't feel at all part of the community that LL are talking about and I wish they'd stop using the term until they actually collect some quantifiable feedback.

or out... i am completely in the camp of if it bothers me i leave, and i dont feel i should pass judgement on something to the point of stopping anyone from doing what they please in a virtual world, the only judgement to me is my own. and the only sentence imposed is my non participation in whatever i dont feel like joining in.

something i may like could well bother others, and i would not wish anyone elses opinions to stop me from doing what i iwsh to do...

Isn't there any way to give some positive feedback? to me AR's are only a negative point of view on things, sure it tells you what peoples seems not to like, but what about measuring what peoples like?

With ratings obliterated and 'traffic' gamed by campers, there really isnt a way to measure what it is about SL that people actually LIKE... LL simply figures if you're here, you like it, or you'd file an AR against what you didn't like, the same way they figure if you're here, you're part of thier 'community' regardless of if you agree with them or not.

"The community" means "The latest small group of narrow-minded people who whined and moaned the loudest."

This is the same thing that "the American people" means whenever you hear a Congressperson or the President say it.

at least people voted them in. i dont remember voting anybody to be my voice for the community.

Philip himself replied very clearly in the old "Ask Linden" forum that no SL community would be allowed to coerce their worldview onto any other SL community. I remember it very clearly, because I asked the question.

On that basis then, please tell "The Community" (whoever they are, and it's not us) that is the source of all these coercive measures to take a running jump, and apply their worldview to themelves alone.

The rest of us meanwhile will live in our own communities and create our own Second Lives quite independently of First Life, and we won't seek to impose our personal community views on anyone else. Exactly as envisioned by Philip.

There is no single "community" in Second Life. It is a collection of many DIFFERENT groups, and the majority of them, if they were even asked, would disagree on very many things.
