Happy Monday everyone. It is my Monday off (I am off work every other week on Monday), so I get to spend a lot of the day doing things like laundry from vacation and misc stuff that would normally have been done on the weekend if I had been here.

Oh, Oryx....that is a lovely picture. The color on the lupine is luscious, and the mountains look, well, majestic.

OK, the sky is finally brightening. God knows why I can never just get one storm and have done with it. I always get three or four in a row, and they all wait until I think it's safe to plug the modem back in and get online, give me two minutes to connect and get my homepages up, then they start rumbling away again.

I know! I've been lucky so far this year; relatively few storms compared with a couple of years ago when the weather went through a spate of "storm three to five times a day, every couple of days". It looks to finally be clearing up now, though :)

Beautiful, isn't it. That could have been a picture from my hike yesterday, except it was a little more wooded and a lot steeper.

Why, oh why, am I incapable of choosing hikes that are nice and flat. Why must I always choose the hike with 2000 feet of elevation gain in 2.5 miles. I seriously considered perishing at least twice on the way up and once on the way down. While I'm asking why, Why haven't I been working out more and why isn't the Ibuprofen working better.

What a beautiful hike. I'm paying for it today, and at my age, I'll likely be paying for it for a couple more days. But it was worth every second of it. It made for a wonderful, mentally relaxing weekend. Uphill hikes are great because you take lots and lots of breaks, and you see the coolest stuff while you are trying to catch your breath, rehydrate and get your heartrate down into the range where you aren't in danger of dropping dead. Lots of waterfalls, unbelieveable basalt formations, panoramic views from the edge of a cliff, tons of little critters and one disconcertingly large footprint, and a beautiful, frigid alpine lake. What a day.

Ouch. What a day today is, too. Poor me. I'm broken.

Sounds like a fabulous hike, in spite of the repercussions...

Skell...you take really great pics!!! And your home is lovely. :)

I like to set my lighting to sunset, too. Actually, I set the time for 6:10 pm.

Sorry about your nasty RL weather, though.
