I can not congratulate and praise you enough. I've heard it is the very hardest addiction to break. And I know from my few months as an ambulance EMT how damaging smoking is. About 30% of our calls were for C.O.P.D. (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) patients in distress.

It seems the mechanism for breathing in a normal person is that when the CO2 in the blood reaches a certain level the next breath is prompted. In C.O.P.D. patients that is compromised and they aren't able to take a breath until the amount of oxygen in the blood falls to a certain level. So the treatment is to give oxygen but if you give too much they can't breathe at all. They can never take a decent breath of air. Imagine.

And a lot of these poor souls still had cigarettes on the coffee table. They still couldn't quit. It made me really glad I never smoked and really glad every time someone is able to quit.


OMG you poor thing! I am so glad I never have to smell it. And second hand smoke is as bad as first hand.



Rha, I am watching your videos as you post them. I thought I'd let you experiment a bit more before giving you my non expert advise. I do think you are on the right track with both of them. And you do have a great voice. I admire your creativity, energy, and artistry. I've been wanting to find the time and energy to try SL video making myself. Are there instructions somewhere? What kind of software are you using?

so, basically here's the skinny on the hubster (young man that he is, it's unexpected and ridiculous). two leaky heart valves and some blockage. surely related to smoking in his youth, and family history of heart troubles no doubt. Saturday we have a doc appointment with a new doc, and then we'll be sent on to a cardiologist. this is getting expensive. hmmmmm maybe RayFig was on to something. anyway, we've already made family lifestyle changes with eating (sacrifice sacrifice sacrifice) and family walks, children included, and now we will find out what more we need to do to get control and keep some healthy maintenance. luckily, as of today, they feel there has been no damage to the heart, so we are getting this early and maybe things won't be as scary as they seem today.

i'm too young to be a widow! and my hubby is cute and sweet (and controlling - well, he tries LOL) and i could never get another as wonderful. i don't like any of this.

the stress train has been rolling through my living room since last August. i really need a stop to come along soon. i'm exhausted from all this moral support, including my own. ugh.

the news says the smoke is drifting quite far, but i still wish you well and to be safe where you are.

i have smoke here too. it sucks!

I am such a sucker for adorable pictures like those, 3Ring. What a bunch of sweeties. Your view of your mountain is clearer than mine is of my mine on most normal days in San Diego. When I was a kid you could always see the mountains now it is fairly rare that the air is clean enough. It really makes me sad. I hope they get all the fires under control quickly.
