I love Jane Austen's stories. I have managed to finish reading one of her books yet (:o) but I love the film adaptations of them. She's probably one of the few authors that no matter what the adaptation, I'm guaranteed to love it.

Anyway, I've discovered two other ones. Both ITV films, Mansfield Park and Northanger Abbey. I found them at the Uni library and I've just finished watching them both.

I've decided that Northanger Abbey is my new favouritist story evar!! :D

They did ok with "Deck the Halls" but I stumped them with "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" - they sang "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas" - really badly.

I read "Pride and Prejudice" a few months ago and I found it pretty entertaining. If I find any more of her books hiding in bookcases around the house I'll probably read them too. I've found several Charles Dickenses lately and am currently reading and enjoying David Copperfield.

I am also VERY fond of Northanger Abbey, but found the ITV version not just disappointing, but to have missed the whole point of the novel. It really romanticizes the relationship between Catharine and Henry, which is exactly the opposite of what Austen does. But, I suppose, romance is what people look for in Austen?

The adaptation of Pride and Prejudice (with Colin Firth) is very good though. And I've always liked the Gwyneth Paltrow version of Emma, even if Mr. Knightly (played by a VERY yummy Jeremy Northam) is a lot younger and more attractive than he is in the novel.

Mansfield Park, on the other hand? Ick. But then Fanny is *such* a drip. :D

It's on my list. Along with "Becoming Jane" which I saw bits of, but not the whole thing.

Hey, I am trying to remember the name of a hair store... they mostly make long hair, amazingly curly hair, I think the designer's last name is Marlow, when you go to the store there's no building, it's all outside, there's water underfoot...

Ring a bell?
