From: Brenda Connolly Okie doke...some green thumb advice is needed. I have started to do my own lawn care. Besides being a savings, I am really enjoying it. I bought myself a shiny new mower at Sears recently and everything. I was putting down some weed and feed, and went a bit too heavy on some heavily weeded spots, along with a big patch where Boomer knocked over the spreader. Now I have some burned out spots. There are some little bits of green poking through, so my question is, will it grow back on it's own? Or will I need to re seed it, or even re sod the spots? I once got so carried away with saving the environment I bought a hand mower.. that didn't last long. the depending on the size of the burn and the amount blah blah blah... it would be easier to reseed but eventually the patch will probably be covered just by nature doing its thing. just make sure you water the seedlings and give them some food to help them on their way. obviously your weed killer isn't the kill everything in sight type if you've got shoots. just remember that when you do actually put it on things, it means you'll probably have to use more than one application for some of the tougher weeds. if you have problems with insects marauding or are going to develop a proper green thumb look into companion planting.

Or just put in a Japanese rock garden. The beauty of it is that you have rocks. And you don't have to do anything with it. And you end up cultured. By doing nothing. Well, other than putting down rocks, arranged properly. And taking up the lawn. And making your doggie annoyed. And spending lots of money. Right, astroturf it is then. (concrete is harder on the knees).

Done. When I bought a house in Scottsdale that was exactly what the previous owners did for the backyard. At first I hated it and couldn't wait to get a jackhammer but I got use to it and it wasn't so bad.

If a land is listed as m2 instead of m (as in 1024m2 vs. 1024m) mean that it is double prim? I've been looking at the land auction and I saw some listed as m2.

No. m2 means "square meters" and is actually a more correct way of writing it than just m...although "1024m" should also be read as meaning "square meters".

The unit of measure "m" is a length. "m2" means meters squared, which is an area. People who refer to land as 1024m really mean 1024m2. 1024m has no meaning in land sales in SL - it's a misuse.

From: Lexxi Gynoid ...Note that most do not have m2 after the meters given. I can't help it if people don't know the difference between linear measurement and area measurement, kitten. "Meters" is a length. Technically, if I bought 1024m, I'd be buying a line of land. It could be difficult to put up much except a prim privacy screen on it.

Re the metres stuff: I think referring to land area just as 'metres' is just an SL shorthand - we all know what it means, although it's technically 'square metres', or sq.m.!!!
1 British / French / German / Italian etc. metre = 1 US meter = 0.87 SL meters !!! grin!

If 'weed and feed' is the same sort of all-in-one granular type stuff that we use then don't worry, any burned off patches caused by spillage will soon grow in again from the roots. Probably those spots will look darker green and grow quicker than the rest for a little while, due to the extra dose of feed, but it all evens out soon enough. Grass is amazingly resilient! I'd just water those patches in well and maybe sprinkle some seed mixed with a little potting compost over the larger areas if they seem barer where it was more weedy to begin with. -- Aes

-- Aes I'm using dog poop in place of the compost, I figure why waste it.

You folks be careful reading yourselves to sleep! I've done that all my life and now - guess what? I fall asleep immediately when I crack open a book. You know - it's one of those horrible things Pavlov did to us dogs. Oh - and I am currently trying to read a biography of James Tiptree, Jr., one of the most extraordinary ladies in literary history. One or two paragraphs at a time I'm afraid.
