i have two i follow. cartel and caledon. both fun! :D

I danced once in a Caledon place- don't recall where. It was interesting to hear th group chat in the room. There were discussions of metallurgy and candle making - I really wasn't sure if it was RP or if these folks did this in RL as a hobby and since i didn't know anyone there I did not feel comfortable joining or asking. It was really like visiting another age :)

I went to one ball once in Caledon. Other than visiting 3Ring's place, it was the only time I've ever seen people in Caledon (well, other than that one horse ride through Caledon, and the gatherings pre-horse rides on Friday nights, whenever I recall the horse ride). I was dressed to fit in.

I didn't recognize anyone. No one talked in my general direction or attempted to dance with me. People were talking in local chat but it wasn't anything to do with the dance, or Caledon.

Not really fair to see Caledon through that one dance event, but I've never seen people there other than that one event.

The horse riding group rides outside of Caledon, except that one time, so I do not think of the connection most of the time.

A number of Caledonians sometimes come to events where I live in New Toulouse and New Toulouse Algiers. They are just like everyone else in SL, no different - some are friendly to strangers, other stick close to their friends; some stick tightly to their SL roleplay characters, others chat about their RL. It's a very large place with many residents and apart from the Victorian theme, which they each adopt to varying degrees, they're just as diverse as any other group of SL residents, and any encounter with them can be hit-or-miss for any particular person on any particular day. Just like the Forum Cartel. :)

Oh Lexxi I didn't happen in and find a dance, I went with a dance partner already who knew Caledon. I really don't find much in the way of folks going to places looking for a dance. Seems mostly in clubs if you don't bring someone u will be dancing alone. Happens to me in Shiraz where I know everyone anyway so I am not surprised when it happens in other places. But sometimes the music is good enough that i can enjoy it while sorting inventory :)

Yesterday was a rest/travel day for the Tour de France. (Although the cyclists' leg muscles demand several hours on the bike every day whether there's a race or not.) I spent half the day entertaining a grandchild and the other half sleeping.

Today, stage 10 was pretty uneventful. 194.5 fairly flat straight kilometers. A four man breakaway was allowed to stay in front by a couple of minutes until it was time for the peloton to sweep them up and for sprinter Mark Cavendish to win, but not yet to regain the sprint point competition leader's jersey currently held by Thor Hushovd, who came in second today.

caledon chat is often littered with 'other world, other era' chat. it's very interesting, even if i don't know what they are talking about some times.

You could always try the bartering system.

Sorry, couldn't resist. I have been lurking forever!! Not new to the forums or SL, but surely to this thread.

I used to hate it too but I had an experience that changed it. One evening I had to meet someone in Manhattan and I was really really early. I had SO much time to kill that I wandered slowly up Madison Avenue and stopped in nearly every store. I came to a store that sold china. To kill time and stay in the store as long as I could I decided, "If I could have one set of china from this place, which one would it be?"

So I looked and compared and in the end picked a really nice pattern. And I was SO happy, even though I didn't buy a thing. The people in the store were so nice to me too - since I was dressed up they never suspected that I was broke.

Even so, it's really frustrating when you buy something that doesn't work, or for some reason you get clothes that don't fit, or clothes that only look good in the store but nowhere else...

/me waves hi to Kylie.

Thanks everyone. :)
My fingers have been itching to make comments. I'm saying it upfront, if you don't like my opinion on things, let me know. I have a thick skin, take criticism well.
I can't wait to pick something apart with Pep!

Awesome, can we have a "play with it" party?

i don't think we have the option to diminish your opinion. it is yours, to have and to hold - til death do you part.... and Pep is his own god, afterall. his opinion is the only one that matters. just ask him. :)
