I hate when I get strange messages from SL via email when I'm at work and can't get in-world.

I can't remember having an object named that and I don't think I ever rezzed anything at the hangout.

Okay here is a question for you threadies. As you all know,I am nuts. So I go to therapy once a week. Now I never mention SL or anyone related to my computer. Just real life stuff. My kids, my ex, my mother's passing etc.... Now ofcourse SL is a huge part of my life and so are my online friends from no matter where I know them from... But how do you explain that to a therapist without sounding kind of weird? I mean would you bother? I don't see the point really, I think it would just give me a headache trying to explain SL,WOW, Face book, my message board etc.....


Anyway how important do you think it is that I should tell her about my online relationships? Do you think it matters in the grand scheme of therapy? Take note,that I am mandated in this state to go to therapy because of the kinds of medicines I am on. So It's not like I'm there cause I want to be and expect anything from it. Just wondering...

Rioko, these are an important part of your life and affect and influence you. They indeed should be part of your sessions. Remember your therapist deals with the mind. What happens in SL etc are real with regard to the mind and the substance of your body is not at issue where and when things occur.

True,good points. It just seems funny to me to try to explain to someone who is most likely not online as much as me( Im guessing, she is an older woman and we have joked how it took forever to learn how to use her email..) I just think she wouldn't quite"get it" and I'd be wasting my breath.

Rio, sweetheart, I adore you. But you are already seeing a therapist, so looking wierd is pretty much off the table already. Tell her. The whole point is to spill your guts. If she is worth her shingle, she would want you to tell her anything and everything you feel is important to you. Her job isn't to understand you, it's to make you understand yourself.

Rio, *try* to explain to her. But preface it by saying, "This could be hard for you to understand, and if it gets to be too much a distraction to my therapy, I want to drop it."

She could be a great therapist, and still hung up on a wrong idea of what SL. You could spend your whole session going, "No, no, no - it isn't like that!" And then go home thinking, "We didn't talk about me at all."

You should pre-emptively create the option of taking it off the table if discussing it doesn't work out.

If not, I could send my mother over to explain SL.

That happened to me about two weeks ago - there was some weird pose ball with a Japanese name and the owner was me. It was also at the hangout and also was returned to me. (Mo had asked me about it and I went to look but couldn't find it.)

I am sure it wasn't mine.
