From: Love Hastings Heh, the thin end of the wedge.
Some people would "rise up" against the machine, but ironically, it would be safer and easier to build more machines to do it for them... rofl!!! I think you've got it nailed, Love.

From: Kaimi Kyomoon The answer could go either way. Then you can enjoy your rest and saved money. And who knows maybe you avoided some catastrophe. Like getting mugged. Have you ever seen Law and Order? I'm afraid to go to NYC at all. Although my new fantasy is to go there and have Brenda show me around. And visit Elora and Ghosty too. We too, would be delighted to be your guides. Anytime the mood strikes you to make a trip, just give let us know. We'll ward off any potential muggings. I once chased down a guy who pulled off my necklace lol. Didn't catch him, but I gave him a good run for his money (or jewelry, mine). I'm a spunky little thing (and Ghosty can more than hold his own too )

I just need a bit more disposable income from somewhere... And btw Brenda, I never get tired of mocking SP.

From: Lexxi Gynoid I've gone whitewater rafting on the Shenandoah, and I went to college in Shenandoah valley. Great area I was looking for some way to see some good plays. Kennedy center will have some later in the year, including some rather famous actors. But that is later in the year. You can see good plays in Washington DC (I saw 12 Angry Men, or whatever that one was called, here, with George Wendt, and Noel Cowards . . .um . .well, a play by him, and that red-headed comedian whose name I can't recall now, also saw Bob Newheart, and had tickets to see Jerry Seinfeld, but was ill that day ). The entertainment here, though, is hit or miss. Very scattered. Ahh...I understand. FYI - Have you looked at Arena Stage in DC?

From: Madhu Maruti *yawns* morning threadfolk. Hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm wiped out even though mine was pretty lazy. Hope to see everyone at the cafe tonight - continuing the next phase of the blue girl's retirement, Carter will be the host and the DJ. The blue girl's leaving???? awwwww. Well, I understand. It's hard enough to keep up one avatar's SL...let alone two active ones! I hope to be at the Cafe tonight.

From: Seven Okelli Not complaining here, just reporting - I got into the Hair Fair over the weekend. I saw some hair in one of the blogs that I wanted to try but didn't manage to find it.
There were only four people on the sim with me but we were in a river of lag. I could tell from the way they were walking that they were in the same molasses as me.
Even so, I managed to see a couple of booths, got some idea of the general theme.
I usually don't suffer from lag much so I was surprised. Maybe there was a big influx of frell. Maybe LL needed to divert energy from secondary systems, reverse polarity, or recalibrate the harmonics, I don't know.
It's too bad. Just have to be patient. Maybe I'll get another crack at it.
. It's that Willy Wonka/Candyland build, I tell you!!!! *shakes fist* (and I LOVE Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory...and Candyland!!)

I appreciate all the help everyone has been I will look at that actor database website at some point. heh, if I ever get time. From: Maureen Boccaccio Ahh...I understand. FYI - Have you looked at Arena Stage in DC? I've looked at everything, though in the "let's see what is on Ticketmaster" type of look at everything. Other than the Kennedy Center, where mailings arrive at the door. I have not been to Arena Stage. I've been to several, not just Kennedy Center.

From: Rhonda Huntress A friend of a friend has invited you to a party. It is supposed to be a big celebration. At the party you learn that the reason for the big production is that a small not for profit organization has developed the perfect robotic system. It can read a book to learn job tasks, including how to repair other robots and design new ones as needed. All the robots will be linked together and the decisions of what to make next or what job is most important to be completed is done collectively. The organization predicts that in 10 years there will be no need for human workers at all. Food, shelter, transportation, energy production and distribution of all these and more will be completely automated by the robotic systems. Humans will be free to explore their creative, artistic and athletic goals without the need for anything.
Would this be utopia or dystopia? And would there be any caveats you would demand to be put in place; something like humans should be allowed to work if they wanted?
Actually, I have often wondered what the transition phase of something like this would be. I would think panic and chaos as the need for a monetary system erodes away and the roles of politics and power lose their teeth.
Wow, that got long for a conversational question. Too much for a Monday? Dystopia. Although the introduction of robotics could certainly benefit people and society, people don't need any more "incentive" to be lazy...or less creative. And besides, I've seen the Matrix and Terminator series! I know how this will end!

From: Brenda Connolly I know silks was already the theme of the day here, but I was cleaning out my inventory, which has topped 10K for the first time, no doubt due to the $5,000L I spent at 1-800- Betty's yesterday, and I found this. It was a gift, never worn, and the closest thing I have to silks. I wish I would have remembered it the day of Cee and Litta's party: YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

From: Marianne Little Hi Marianne! You seen my skater girl look? It's interesting that I use my ordinary shape, not a shape made to look younger. Amazing what no boob shading and a band-aid on the nose can do. The skateboard has static poses, since I'm just playing with different looks, not planning to have an avatar that look 14 year old. Very cute!! And yes, that shirt's great, with so little boob shading!

From: Amaranthim Talon Two Ladies Talking at the way station to Heaven
1st woman: Hi! My name is Betty.
2nd woman: Hi! I'm Margaret, How'd you die?
Betty: I froze to death.
Margaret: How horrible!
Betty: It wasn't so bad. After I quit shaking from the cold, I began to get warm & sleepy, and finally died a peaceful death. What about you?
Margaret: I died of a massive heart attack. I suspected that my husband was cheating, so I came home early to catch him in the act. But instead, I found him all by himself in the den watching TV.
Betty: So, what happened?
Margaret: I was so sure there was another woman there somewhere that I started running all over the house looking. I ran up into the attic and searched, and down into the basement. Then I went through every closet and checked under all the beds. I kept this up until I had looked everywhere, and finally I became so exhausted that I just keeled over with a heart attack and died.
Betty: Too bad you didn't look in the freezer---we'd both still be alive. *wipes off monitor and shakes fist at Amara* lol
