Now for something completely different.

Went for my interview today which went very well. Essentially, it seems like the job is mine for the asking. They told me they are not "shopping" for anyone else, based on what my resume and recommendations were. Lunch was very pleasant (Delmonico, downtown NYC - one of those old time kind of "men's" fancy steakhouse joints, where everyone knows your name lol), we had a lot to discuss. We all agreed to "digest" the conversation and get in touch with our thoughts and it was also mentioned that I should call the current office manager to discuss getting in touch with her directly to have a talk about the direction of the office, possibly a lunch with her too. I took all of this as a positive sign. I can't imagine why I wouldn't take this position, it seems like a good fit for me, the office is thriving, the prinicipals appear to be people I can work for and the benefits are good. I'm sure I'll be calling them tomorrow to let them know I would like to be part of their team.

In the meantime - I have blisters on the backs of my heels that are killing me! Anyone have a good remedy? Damn shoes were nice and low but never fully worn in and I'm regretting wearing them now but good

Again.. they can.. they can not:
* be posting about how helping me is fruitless and a waste of time.
* constantly be telling me I shouldn't expect to succeed at anything, ever.
* be playfully joking at each other about my behaviour.
* have people apologize or regret even joining a thread I'm in.

Those experiences have changed me.

You still seem to want other people to be way more interested in you than I would ever expect anyone to be in me.

It doesn't. I do feel increasingly sorry for you, but I've given up trying to help you or hoping that you will say anything new. I don't mean this unkindly but it does seem as if you need to face facts.

I guess it means that trying to get something you need from other people generally takes a lot more time and effort than figuring out how to live with, get over, or fulfill the need for yourself.

Obviously this is way harder for you than it is for most of us and honestly we've all been trying to help you but nothing we can think of to do seems to be helping.

But what I'm saying is that people choose not to give that thing to me - that's fine, but I can draw conclusions from that fact - and they're not good conclusions, so of course I'm frustrated and wonder what is wrong with me..

I dunno..true story ...A few years ago I was living in an apartment. It was a cold night, I had the flu and wanted a pizza, but the local place that I liked didn't deliver, but there ws a Domino's acroos the street. I was desperate so I called them. They told me it would 90 minutes to two hours to have a pie delivered because they were short staffed and insanely busy. "But I live across the street", I said. "Sorry, you have to wait your turn". "But..I literally am right across the street. I can see you through the window, look, I'm waving". No joy.

"OK, how about I come out and pick it up?"

"I'm sorry, but after 9:00 we stop carryouts and lock the doors". It was around 9:30.

"But..but..I'm just across the street! OK, how about this? I'll come over, and I'll leave the money on the doorstep and step away. You open the door, take the money , put the pizza down, and lock the door. Then I'll take my pizza"

"I'm really sorry Miss, but I can't do that. The manager would get mad."

*sighs, hangs up and opens a can of Chef Boyardee Ravioli.

So, getting Ghosty to get the stuff for you may be your best bet.

It's the same thing that is wrong with everybody. But most of us, when we grow up, realize it's not realistic or fair to hope for someone else to say a magic word to make everything fine. And most of us have enough self-respect to refrain from begging over and over for something no one has to give.
