Speaking of teenagers. Tell me what you think of this. My son loves to make movies and he is very good at it. He has his own channel on you-tube that I set up for him to display his videos to the other wonderful teenagers of the world. He has a lot of subscribers and friends there and gets excellent comments on his work. But yet he refuses to let me or his father see these videos.(Of course though I watch them anyway because that is what nosy moms do,besides I set up the account,I have the password.)

What is so wrong with letting your parents see stuff? They are just cartoons. He is not doing anything wrong, but yet he acts like he is making how to make bomb movies or porn when I ask to see them....

I set him up an e-mail address the other day. He actually did send me one video to watch. Almost like it was easier for him to communicate with me via e-mail. Not to mention he emails me when he wants a drink or something now too...:/ Teenagers are odd.

That sounds like a normal teenager. If there is such a thing.

He'll get over it. Just give it a few years, and every once in a while drop a subtle hint. "My friend at work showed me a video she liked...and it was one of yours. I liked it too."

He's trying his wings...and is afraid that Mom will criticize the way he's flapping. Parents do that, we can't help it. But at this stage, he sees that as trying to put him back in the box labeled "child".

I have a bit of the same problem. My son is a very good web comic artist. Whenever I ask him for a preview of upcoming events in his strip, I get an enigmatic smile. He knows, you see, that I'll probably give him Input...and he wants the work to be his, not his and mom's. But he still autographs the stuff he gives me with things like, "Thanks for believing in me."

This post got lost at the end of a page, so . . .

Talking about art, what's the "perfect" size for the picture being imported? Resolution size? There is a detailed really long thread I waded through a long time ago, but it flew over my head.

Perfect as in rezzes relatively fast and still gives enough detail for the artwork itself.

Yikes.

Kids, step away from the tree. C'mon, we'll go get ice cream.

/me carefully sets down a bag of catnip and a tin box which emits some faint squeaks. (What, you think I killed them first?! Sheesh.)
/me gathers up the kids' leashes and walks slowly and quietly away, muttering into her cell phone,

"Did you get the goods, Amara?"

*leaps gracefully from the tree, twirling in the air, landing on her toes. squeaks and slips over onto her side, hurriedly rights herself and looks around. licks her paws as if nothing odd had occurred. Approaches the bag and tin box. bats the bag and box around. whines, whimpers. eyes dart around making sure no one is watching. Extends her paw, unsheaths really long sharp claws (thinks to herself "that's not a knife, This is a knife";) and swipes once at the bag, bag bursts open, catnip flies everywhere, swipes once at tin can. Nothing seems to happen to the can. Then slowly the can splits down the middle. no mouse is harmed. eyes narrow and look around, looking hard for watchers. whispers to the mice "run . . run, you are free . . .no longer will you be . . um . . you left . . my speach wasn't done. That annoys me."*

Do you think there is a market for lazy back-talking teenagers on e-bay?
no matter how bad they are, you can almost always get at least few bucks by selling them into slavery to some third world country - but that might be limited to girls only.
:p

My ex-fiancee used to sit beside me on using my laptop & IM me. :)

My parents were quite, um, "conservative" about things. Art, comic books, drawing, even computers were "Stupid things that serve no purpose in your future" And I got to constantly hear how much money I'd make if I went & worked at the Steel Mill instead.

So yea, happy childhood me!!

@ Brenda - Thanks for the Pork Chops with Onion Guiness Gravy recipe! OMG, it was SO delicious. A bit time consuming to cook after working all day, but well worth the effort :)

It's a keeper!

was it this thread?
/327/94/282130/1.html
how i import a texture for hung art:
open the image in photoshop
trim any frame
resize (maintain aspect ratio ON) the image so the largest dimension is 512
look at the resulting image dimensions
if it is, for example, 512px wide and 446px tall, create a prim, 0.512 wide and 0.446 tall, 0.010 thick
upload texture (it will convert to 512x512)
paste to the prim face, set both repeats to 1.00
resize the prim using the white handles to maintain the w/h ratio, ensuring 'stretch textures' is selected.

sorry if that is somewhat off topic, i didnt see the other posts about art so i dont really know if i am addressing the question at all!

That's what I do. I think Lexxi wants to know what the best size to import is. 512x512? 1024x1024? Something else? What's the sweet spot? It's a tradeoff between resolution and load times, I suppose.

I never doubted you for a minute.

On a unrelated note....did LL buy the Sci Fi Channel? It seems they aren't the only company ashamed of it's Early Adopters.......
