lol...Thanks, Ghosty. I think it's their editing software which causes the problem. Sometimes it won't load for me, just giving me the banner at the bottom.

One article is about the Garden of Lost Love...and one about the entreprenuer behind the Garden ;)

Sweetness :) Man, I could use some coverage like that! Very cool!

No, it's because they have a bazillion Flash elements and music that automatically plays all going on at the same time ... they need a web designer, not the teenager who thinks he's working on a MySpace page lol

Moanin' Folks.

In honor of the upcoming Holiday, here are a few tips to help you get into the spirits* of the season:

Tips for Irish Insults

*Add "blast ye!" to the end of your sentences. This is a good-natured light curse that may be directed at dogs, cats, cattle, objects, children and even adults. For example, if the neighborhood kids were in your bushes, you could reprimand them, ""Go on out of there, blast ye!"

*Insult indirectly (when the insulted person is not actually there) by murmuring to your neighbor, "He's not the full schilling," meaning he's not completely right in the head. This may mean the person actually does show signs that he is crazy or mentally disturbed, or they may be perfectly all right but you would like to express your opinion that they are off their rocker. Alternatively, you could say, "He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer." This is a gentle way to refer to someone you feel is less bright.

*Cry out, "Have ye any sense at all?" This is best used with people very familiar to you, such as your good friends or kids. It reflects exasperation on the speaker's part.

*Question them, "Are ye daft?" The meaning is "Are you crazy?", but the mood is generally light and humorous, not too serious or malicious.

*Refer to someone you are feeling unhappy or frustrated with by saying, "He is a right eejit (idiot)" or "They are a right bunch of eejits." An Irish slur probably most popular in pubs, this may come off as mild or strong, depending on the tone and context.

I'd look, save the thing has crashed my browser twice in a row :( Welp, whatever those articles are, I'm certain they deserve congratulations! :D

I couldn't bring it up either Honey - but congrats as well. I'll keep trying, maybe I'll have better luck later.

Honeybear, SLEnquirer didn't work for me with Firefox, but then, I run all sorts of addins that prevent me seeing adverts and Flash rubbish. It came up fine in Internet Explorer though . . .

Pep ( . . . and I probably now have a machine stuffed with viruses, trojans, adware etc . . .)

PS The definition of an Irishman is someone who is nice about you behind your back.

INTERVIEW WITH HONEYBEAR LILLIEHOOK, by Mirage Mavendorf

If you've ever read anything I've ever written in my Spotlights column, you know that I enjoy SL and all it has to offer. I find this place very creative, stimulating, and just plain fun. But, if you've been in SL more than about five minutes, you also know that not everyone here is happy, fulfilled, and lovin' life. What about those people? Does SL have anything to offer them?

I never really gave that question much thought till my new friend HoneyBear Lilliehook told me about the Garden of Lost Love. It is a place she created to assist those in SL who are troubled or grieving. HoneyBear invited me to the Garden to speak with her and to see for myself how it can help SL residents in dealing with their grief.

Mirage Mavendorf: Hi HoneyBear. Thanks for speaking with me today. "Garden of Lost Love". Hmmm... I have to tell you, of all the fun places in SL that I get to write about, that's not a name that makes me want to rush out and visit. LOL. What exactly IS the Garden, and why would someone go there?

HoneyBear Lilliehook: The Garden is something I created to allow avatars to express the grief of their typist. Many people relate very closely with their avatars...and I felt it important to express that.

Mirage Mavendorf: Makes sense - obviously not all of SL's residents are happy all the time. How did you first get the idea and when did you open the Garden?

HoneyBear Lilliehook: I had a difficult 2008. A long relationship here in SL fell apart, and I lost my father and my home burned with two pets in it. I was devastated. While I, the typist, could grieve, Honey, who had lost the relationship, could not. Eventually, I found some poses that allowed her to show grief (and thus helping her to move past it), and I thought hmmm...I'm not the only one, I'm sure. Why not create a place where others can grieve properly? In October, 2008, I did exactly that.

Mirage Mavendorf: Who would you say is your "typical" visitor? Can you give us an example of someone who could really be helped here?

HoneyBear Lilliehook: Typically, the visitors are those who have lost someone they loved...in SL, there's a lot of relationship hurts. However, I spoke with someone who spent some time in the Garden on Thanksgiving Day. She was there because her daughter had passed away earlier in the year, and it was the first Thanksgiving without her daughter. She said being in the Garden gave her peace.

However, I've heard of people proposing marriage, or just hanging out in a place of peace for them.

Mirage Mavendorf: How many people have visited the garden and what exactly do they experience when they get here? What services are available?

HoneyBear Lilliehook: In the time that it has been open, over 500 people have passed through the gates. There are mourning candles (created and donated by MenuBar Memorial) which can be purchased for 1L, and placed for their loved one. We also have a RL counselor attached to the Garden. I didn't think it was right to create a place for people to give in to their grief, without giving them a way to close it properly, if they needed help.

Mirage Mavendorf: I've honestly never heard of such a place as this, but I know that there are plenty of wounded souls in SL. Is the garden unique in SL or are there other such places? What is most unique about the Garden?

HoneyBear Lilliehook: There are other places around SL to grieve. However, upon visiting a few of them, I don't see the poseballs found in the Garden of Lost Love, nor the grief counselor available to them. But that's not to say there aren't others...I just haven't found them.

Mirage Mavendorf: You obviously are very passionate about what you're doing here. What are you most proud of?

HoneyBear Lilliehook: Since being in SL, I've tried to do as much as I could to help others, usually new residents. But this helps the hearts of residents....it's like being able to give them a big warm hug when they need it. I've been amazed by the number of people who have visited, but I can't be happy about the numbers since most of them are hurting.

Mirage Mavendorf: So if someone is interested in your services, what's the first step? Should they make an appontment or just drop by?

HoneyBear Lilliehook: They can just drop by the Garden. It's unstaffed. If they wish to IM the counselor, there is an online indicator with his name on it. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Cherry%20Park/12/218/27

Mirage Mavendorf: Thanks for your time! I have to say that the Garden of Lost Love is unlike anything I've ever seen here. Is there anything else you want people to know?

HoneyBear Lilliehook: Just that there a lot of people in Second Life willing to help - whether it's talk, comfort, or just a hug...they aren't alone.

Couldn't get the other interview to copy...:(

Here is the other one:

I met HoneyBear Lilliehook recently through my photography work. As a
photographer, I am trained to notice beautiful women. OK, maybe I've always
been that way, but anyway, after about two sentences from HoneyBear, I
realized that she's much much more than just a pretty face. She is truly a
"serial entrepreneur" in SL, and has more going on here than most anyone I
know. My other Spotlight is currently about her "Garden of Lost Love" which
deserves a Spotlight of its own. But here, I wanted to better get to know
Honey herself and what makes her tick.

I caught up with HoneyBear at her mall, which she has just remodeled.

Mirage Mavendorf: How did you get started in SL and when did that happen?

HoneyBear Lilliehook: I had heard about SL a few years ago and tried it,
but my computer wouldn't handle it. After I got a new computer, an online
friend suggested I try it again and it worked! I rezzed on June 16, 2007,
was in love with SL by day 2 and bought my first piece of land... I haven't
looked back since!

Mirage Mavendorf: I've read from other articles written about you that your
became an SL serial entrepreneur in record time. How did that happen and
why do you think you move so fast?

HoneyBear Lilliehook: *laughs* At the time I joined, my RL husband wasn't
in SL. I felt guilty for taking money from the household funds, so started
looking for ways to support my rapidly growing shopping addiction. I started
the blog, then I got a job, found out about affiliate sales, and it just took off from there!

Mirage Mavendorf: Now that you've been in SL for nearly two years, what
does SL mean to you and what are your favorite things about SL?

HoneyBear Lilliehook: I have an absolute passion for the creativity of
other people, so I enjoy exploring and seeing what other people have done.
SL, to me, is the freedom to create, to let your imagination take you
anywhere you want to go. I love SL for allowing me to be the things I've
always wanted to be in SL, but couldn't. Lastly, I love it for the business
management skills I've learned, and taken to my first life.

Mirage Mavendorf: Can you give me a quick inventory of your current SL
involvement, how you got started and what you want to do with it?

HoneyBear Lilliehook: Going to expose me as the classic overachiever? ;)

Currently, I own the Cherry Park sim, which contains Parkville Estates
Skybox and Home Rentals, the Garden of Lost Love, and the Mall at Cherry
Park (including several of my own stores), all run by me and my general
manager, Axe Bikcin.

I have a job as the Executive Personal Assistant to Ohren Beck, owner and
CEO of InStyle Fashion Agency, and its subsidiaries, and I'm a model, both
runway and print.

I write the blog, although due to time constraints, I've brought on
assistants, Savannah Ducatillon, Havilah Lefevre, and Claire Silverspar, to
help with that. With closing in on 1,000 hits a day, we're all kept hopping
trying to locate all the best freebies we can.

I help new residents as much as I can, and enjoy helping out in the various
groups I belong to. When possible, I work on new creations.

Finally, I'm a Princess in the hud-based game, Tiny Empires, in the Queendom
of Insanity.

Mirage Mavendorf: Where do you see yourself in SL one year from now?

HoneyBear Lilliehook: Hmmm. Probably doing more of the same! I love my
businesses, and enjoy everything I'm involved in. I would like to start
scheduling more "down time" so I can continue exploring this vast world
called Second Life!

Mirage Mavendorf: Any advice you'd like to offer SL newbies or other SL
residents, on being successful in business or just in general?

HoneyBear Lilliehook: I encourage every new resident to take building
classes, as often as they can. Content creation is what makes Second Life
what it is and by learning to build, they can contribute to our world, and
learn to make money for themselves. Even if they choose not to enter
business, everyone should learn to line up their furniture.

If you want to get into content creation, find a mentor! You'll find they'll
make your life much easier.

That's the best advice I can offer. :)

End.

Morning folks. The good part is still open for debate.

I had a great weekend despite the horrid weather, but I'm paying for it this morning.
I guess it's my own fault as I have been praying for rain, but why do my prayers get answered on the day I have an all day outdoor event (frisbee golf tourney) planned.

Lately when ever I'm away for a few days I'm afraid I'll come back and find the forums gone. I'm glad to see yall are all still here. :)

Question regarding contest
03-16-2009 08:40
On Saturday, right after I came back from voting for Honey's pose, someone from the Forum Cartel IM'd me and I cant remember the name; it started with a 'K' I think. Asked me to go to 'Neko Yo' and vote for her, in a contest there. I couldn't go right that moment and asked for a LM to go later. So, later I went and could not find the contest, at the Neko Yo store. Anyone know who that might have been who IM'd me? I did try......

After two and a half years in SL, today I wore a tail for the first time! Granted, it was a green and black striped glowing plastic rat-tail attached a belt, not a realistic replica of a horse or tiger tail, and it wasn't surgically implanted, just a strap-on tail!

So why did I do it? I'm an ordinary human female avatar. I did it because I got an invite to a 'best tail' contest. Anyway, I made the item in about 10 minutes from bits of scrap plastic and went along to the contest wearing the tail and nothing else, and I was a joint winner! WOOT!
