Oooh! I am getting pretty tired of having to get here in three tries.

It's a rainy day in Beantown, which is actually kind of nice...

one - because it's warm-ish

two - because my office window faces due south, so I can only open the blinds when it's not sunny.

So... rainy days are good for something other than Jiffy Pop.

Oh, and I started reading my daughter the book "The Princess Bride" -- (mistakenly) thinking that since it was in the Children's Room at the library that it actually WAS a children's book.

Of course, it's quite funny, but she got immensely bored very quickly -- which is highly ironic, if you know the book.

Proly someone metioned this- see the movie- the irony of you not getting your daughter interested is quite amusing when u see the film. Besides, as often as it is referenced here....

Jiffy Pop! I loved Jiffy Pop.

But rainy days are also good for "Club Bed." That's what my sister calls it when she gathers her stack of novels, DVDs, and snacks, and camps in her bed for the day.

edited to add:

Key, that IS ironic! :p I can still see the grandson (I love how we never knew his name or his grandpa's name) looking so bored at the beginning of the movie.

Hah! lol :D

Yes... I was thinking of the one that went,

"Rainy days are no fun for us kids."

"Let's make Jiffy Pop!"

In the book the boredom thing is more pronounced...

The author himself starts off HATING reading, then gets pneumonia and is confined to bed.

His immigrant father brings in the "The Princess Bride" to read to him, and struggles with the English, but reads him the whole story twice.

It changes the boy's life, makes him fascinated with adventure stories.

He becomes a screenplay writer, writes "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and other films.

His own son turns ten, and with great difficulty he finds the book and gives it to him.

The son finds it incredibly boring.

The father looks at the book and realizes that his own father skipped all the boring stuff and just read the adventure parts.

The author makes an abridgement, which is the book you can now find called "The Princess Bride".

I try to read the abridgement to my daughter, and she is bored out of her skull.

If your alts starte arguing with each other- what would one call that sort of mental disconnect? Has SL sprouted its own virtual schizoprenia? Is it Friday already somewhere?

:D - Normal of course is relative- but since we do have a preponderance of alts - myself included- i guess that might be considered normal in our milleu.
