It's Friday (the 13th - which is not a problem; my daughter was born on a supposedly unlucky day and is the nicest person I know) the sun is shining and the snow has melted (we'll ignore the floods) and Wales are going to prevail over England at rugby tomorrow. What could make the day more perfect (apart from going to the pub at lunchtime and finishing work early) other than an Ulster Fry?

And it's never too early for an Irish coffee!

Pep (sorry to all you veggies and health nuts, but a man's gotta do . . .)

Oh OK then . . .

Good morning, threadies! TGIF13!

Hope y'all can make it to the "Shades of Red" part this afternoon/evening (from 2 pm to roughly 8 pm SLT). :)

Ohhhh, Pep. Thank you! How wonderful to find breakfast waiting for me.

@ Amara: The round things are, I believe, black pudding (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_pudding)...

@ Jerboa: Your friend and his wife are in my thoughts and prayers.

@ Pep - in the Ulster Fry - what are the round black things in the middle? Other than that, I'll take one!
As Mo has said, they are Black Pudding, which I believe might be known as Blood Pudding over your way. You can guess what it's made of. I try not to think of it - I just enjoy it. Come to think of it Gabriele, Mac etc might appreciate it too.

Pep (I believe a Dublin Fry has White Pudding as well, but I have deliberately avoided finding out what is in that)

Generally I avoid blood consumption, tvm :)

Quick question am drawing a blank (not enough sleep or too little SL lately?) What is the term for when your comp is completely scrubbed clean and everything gets reinstalled from the ground up? Argh!

K- Here is the why of it and I need help- :(

If I could pick some brains please I am needing a bit of help. I have an HP 3300 that is about hmm- four years old. Recently was reformatted. Everything was wonderful, grafix, speed - it rocked.

About a week and a half ago my CPU started running at 100 % even when not actively doing anything. I usually run SecondLife and Firefox concurrently and had not had any issues until one day this happened. And I don't know what to do to get it back. There are 36 processes running that include in order of greatest mem usage:
FireFox=60,520;
explorer.exe= 40,444;
java.exe=336,100,
SfCtlCom.exe = 27,744;
svchost.exe=27,080;
UfSeAgnt.exe=27,080;
SearchIndexer.exe=12,588;
WindowsSearch.exe=11,384;
TMBSRV.exe=11,216;
TmProxy=11,056

I ran Malaware Malabytes and it found no virus; Trend Micor finds no virus; Went into MsConfig Startup and checked off a few things from start up; tried turning off TrendMicro temporarily...nothing changes, comp still at 100%.

Okay... for those of you following the adventures of Spike (see /327/4f/307186/1.html)...

He turned out to be a pretty nice guy, and Honeybear gave him a great makeover. Here's the before and after. The in-between pics are at

Before:

After:

I'm still editing the pics -- there are better ones of each of us. I mean, better ones of me... Honeybear always looks amazing.

It's the crappy picture. He looks better, believe me.

This is a better one of him... I didn't want to use it as the After because of Honeybear doing the frug in the background.

Amara,

How does it behave without Firefox running at all? Just curious.

Also, you say your cpu is at 100%. What about the hard drive? Is it churning while this is happening?

And in task manager, you can also look at cpu usage as well as memory usage. Take a peek at that tab, and see which process is eating up all the cpu.

That might help find the problem.

Amara, try using spybot and CCleaner. The are both free downloads. Also I read somewhere that you should use services.msc to disable background programs instead of msconfig.

That's awesome! You ladies are great for helping him out. Especially after a forum entrance such as that.

I have full faith that Honey can have him runway-ready in a snap. She's just that good.

give him a little wider hips, a little less shoulder, and a tad less muscle. He's still borderline triangle-guy. :)

('course I'm one to talk... my shape is pretty exaggerated too.)

Well, you know, it would be nice if one of you GUYS showed him around a little... explained how things worked and all that, which is what he was asking about in the first place.

/me laughs

Anyway, he doesn't look like a newbie any more. He looks like an alt.
