Everyone is mixing and having a great time...until.... "Heey...it's couple's dance time! Don't be shy..."
Yes, I think anything too scheduled would feel like that ... I think it just would be nice to make mingling more of a custom at the Hangout. If a DJ or Hangout manager feels inclined, perhaps they could just encourage folks to feel free to invite each other to dance and chat with their dance partners.

We need a set of dance balls that does one of those huge barn dances, where the last few steps of the pattern has you shifting positions so that you get a new partner.

Actually I do like the idea.

When I first went to hangout events, I was horrible about asking anyone to dance. I have witnesses. :D

And it really is a good way to get to know people.

Just be careful around him.... you know rabbits... pretty soon we'll have 200 half-human bunnies hopping around the place.

LOL! Actually, this made me think of something. I recently saw a model skybox called "The Bachelor Pad I Skybox." As I wandered through it, I noticed there were some stray socks dropped on the floor in the bedroom, and two packages of condoms on the floor next to the socks!!:p (http://xstreetsl.com/modules/Marketplace/Images/9/1/3/913fecc10f315aa3ad97aeb1a9b10170.jpg)

In addition...the place had a HUGE walk-in closet, complete with closet rods for hangers.

Now, if you could only hang up your inventory...

Watermelon Pants!

Since the change to the SL Blog I haven't kept up with Torley and his tutorials.
However, I did stumble across this and thought it was goofy enough to share with the thread.

Oh, almost forgot,
Good morning folks!!!!!

LOL!

I do love Torley's pics and videos. :)

You may not have noticed, but did it also have a wall-sized TV screen with a choice of sports channels, and minifreezers built into the arms of the recliner sofas with chip/dip receptacles on top of them?

How about just calling it a "Shades of Red" party?

Ih, great idea for a name!! Less pressure. :)

From: Litta Nightfire
A thot for Hangout parties: Cee and I have gone to a few neo-Victorian dances lately, and one charming aspect of them is the custom of changing partners. In actual Victorian times, it was considered bad form for even married couples to dance the night away. In SL, having a dance and a brief IM is a great way for a newcomer to be introduced to a number of community members quickly.

It's always totally excellent to go to a party and dance solo - indeed, many prefer that. But we can all stand some variety, and having a one-on-one during a couples dance is a nice way, I think, to draw someone who is shy about general chat into the occasion a little more.

In Caledon, the way this is usually done is to do the initial invite via IM, and then if it is accepted do the invite in chat as well, which is a nice way of propagating a social atmosphere.

Anyway, if you see Cee and I do this at parties, we're just being sociable, not shopping for an open relationship! :)
.

I like this idea. As an example, CX, at his pool parties, was always very gallant in squiring "unattached" ladies for a few spins around the floor. I always thought that was very courteous. :)

Hah! There were two GIHUGIC flat screen tvs on walls - one in the living room, and one in the bedroom.

I did not see the bachelor recliner sofa accoutrements, though. :p

"Bachelor pad" and "HUGE walk-in closet" do not go together -- guys have absolutely no need for a huge closet (a huge garage for the toys, maybe, but not a closet).

Did you check to see if the trash can had any used condoms in it?

Are you sure the screen in the bedroom wasn't a mirror?

The female eye would probably see the proprietary collapsable dungeon as a walk-in closet . . .

Am thinking the dungeon would be a selling point...

The mirror should be on the ceiling above the bed.

Hah! No mirror above the bed, as I recall. And oddly, the tv in the bedroom was on the wall behind the bed, instead of the one opposite it.

But get a load of the kitchen: :p

yes...MadamG was working on it. I saw a thread across the street when I first joined asking for input and feedback as she was finishing it up.

Did you notice the dance pole in the bedroom?
