Venturing into this thread, quietly, attempting to be unobtrusive.... uh oh... a Pep spotting.... does that mean I have to slink back out?

Nah Arielyn, don't worry, this is a grief-free zone as far as I am concerned, unless others start something, thereby running the terrible risk of incurring the wrath of Mo!

Pep (Unless you want to fight about my choice of biscuits?)

LOL...no fight about the biscuits (though I have to admit that before marrying my Brit, I had no conception of the nature a TRUE 'biscuit' and thought instead that biscuits were reserved for those of the canine persuasion... ;) )

SORRY!!! A language complication that is not necessarily permanent once illuminated. Biscuits (UK) = Cookies (US) for those not enlightened by expatriot Yorkshiremen.

Awww...Maureen, thanks for the star! I have printed it out and taped in on my monitor. ;)

Pep, thanks for the website. Since Mickey came here to the US (after meeting on SL I might add), I've had to learn the difference between a windscreen and a bonnet; I've been enlightened as to the 'proper' use of the word "knickers"; and I've had to endure a morning hubby ritual that includes some horrid smelling goop called Bovril. I've been sufficiently amused by "spotted dick"; watched endless hours of Lee Evans; and have learned to shut my eyes when hubby attempts to navigate a Walmart parking lot from behind the wheel. Talk about an education!! lol

Coffee? Nothing but the best for us!

Pep (Well, I did just persuade the taxman to give us a $500k interest free loan)

I almost got one of those, but went with a Rancilio instead.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Spotted dick is a steamed suet pudding containing dried fruit, (usually currants), commonly served with either custard or butter and brown sugar.

I bought a can (packed by Pittsburgh, PA based Heinz) just to show my friends that is really DOES exist...lol.

Two years ago a friend introduced me to the works of Enid Blyton, who (as far as I can tell) is virtually unknown in the US. Since then I've been reading her books to my daughter when she goes to bed at night.

Because of that I've had to explain such things as "tea" as a meal ("Mom, why are they *eating* tea?";), "pudding" as a generic term for dessert, "blow" as an mild expletive, the whole business of boarding schools in general (to which she reacted with horror, in spite of the charms of Malory Towers), and what the word "oy!" meant.

Key, I went through almost the same things with my two girls when they were younger, lol. Ahhh...those were the days--the curiosity, innocence of ones so young---I miss it.
