You can regift the Starbucks card, just make sure neither the person you give it to nor the person who gave it to you find out ;)

They make some good hot chocolate too, so you might think about that before you get rid of the card.

1 user agrees.

Good hot chocolate. And muffins.

Many happy returns of the day Kaimi!

Belated Happy Birthday to Kaimi! I hope the next year is as good or better than the last. :)

And boy is it cold up here in WA. 19 degrees Farenheit last I heard, and tomorrow is supposed to hit 6 degrees F for a low. And we got snow! It was only like half an inch but it was fun. :)
Thanks Oryx - Did your event get back on track eventually? It's kind of cold here this am - 53F with a spattering of rain and heavy overcast.

From: Maureen Boccaccio
Yes, snow is a difficult thing. It's so lovely...peaceful...everyday noises are muted...time slows down...people take time to talk with their neighbors...

But gah!! Driving can be a nightmare...even if you know what you're doing...others may not.

Snow days were good days when I was a taxi driver in the mid-west. And I enjoyed the snow a lot when I was warm and cozy inside with a good book and plenty of food. Getting off work at midnight, when I was a meat cutter, and trudging across the parking lot to scrape ice off my windshield so I could drive home... not so much.

On another note, yesterday I took a ride with a girlfriend to see her new puppy at the breeder. She will be taking it home on the 26th. It's a Black Lab. As we were oohing and ahhing over her, the breeder mentioned that her brother, the last one in the litter was available. Despite the voice in my head saying "Don't do it" I of course did, since no one tells me what to do, not even me. Bad move, about 5 minutes later I was driving to the nearest ATM to put down a deposit. So now I also have a puppy to pick up on the day after Christmas. A very expensive one.

Oh a puppy! Congrats Brenda! I'm sure you won't regret him/her.

I'm dying for a pet, probably a kitten but there's a clause in my lease that says no pets and "if" I do get one, I need to pay $500 to have it (which, is contradictory if you ask me). That's just downright nutty. Sadly, there's a parking lot behind my building with literally packs of stray cats and I could have my pick if I wanted. Plenty of kittens to choose from (makes me sad each time I go to my car).

We're thinking of getting a guinea pig, to replace the one that Ghosty lost recently due to a sad mishap. We figure who would complain about a piggie? Not like they are going to run around the apartment and chew up stuff :p

Mine is going on 5 years old, and I think the creaky video card is finally starting to give up, I'm crashing out of SL more frequently. I'm going to try to nurse it along till the Taxman returns what he stole from me this year, then will look at replacing it.

Commiserations on the computer, congratulations on the Labbie. We've owned several, have two now. Not one of them has been less than a wonderful pet and companion. Of course, it's a lot like living with a perpetual three year old...

A husband has just received his final divorce papers and staggers out of a bar drunkenly shouting "I'm free! I'm free", at which a child walking along the sidewalk looks up at him and says "I'm four and you are big for your age aren't you!"

There's only one way I could stop getting older...
The candles flicker momentarily, the ones lit after the power went out in that last icy blast from the mountains. You were already shivering despite the thick woolen blanket and the sugared brandy drink on the table by the log fire.
You don't even turn around as you know what shares the room with you, it is Death. You sigh with acceptance as the cold drives all thought of flight from your weary body.
A figure slides into view from the shadows, dressed in vintage scarlet silk of a bygone age, a smooth yet pale visage belongs to the deceptively young form.
You feel the tension in the air as a palpable, terrible force for what seems like an age before it breaks and Death retreats just little and lingers at the periphery of the room.
The girl looks at you with eyes as cold as the snow being driven against the windows and speaks in a voice that seems to come from a place faraway...
"Kaimi, You have but to ask and I promise that Death will never trouble you again..."

Uh oh...Don't listen to her, Kaimi!

See, they never tell you about the downsides to being Undead.

- You will never get a tan again. Or even see the sun. Forget that Caribbean cruise...
- You will live...er, exist...in constant fear of discovery.
- Vampires, for all their strength, are surprisingly fragile creatures. They are vulnerable to many things. It must be thus, or we'd be hip-deep in them.
- Death will continue to trouble you...even more so since your soul is damned. And if it doesn't worry you, you will most certainly be reminded of mortality daily, as you must take lives in order to preserve your own existence.

Don't get me wrong. I love Gabriele and our other Dark Ones. I love the sexy way they play the role. Just...read the fine print, OK?

Agreed! Better to be a demon. You can go out during the day. And raising hell is expected. When you take that last of the coffee at the office, you don't have to make a fresh pot. Think about that!

Your local animal shelter can probably put you in touch with someone who helps feral cats. There are organizations that trap, neuter, and release strays and also give them food. http://www.feralcatproject.org/
