... I think I had a breakthrough ... I was inspired by an AM Radio piece - a microscope that is absolutely beautiful, but which I can't display because it has about a zillion prims and I'm trying to make stuff fit on a 1024. I figured I could do it in under 15 prims and I actually sat down and did it! I'm stunned. The texturing isn't done, but the object itself actually turned out exactly like I wanted it to, and under my prim budget! Yay me! I built something worthwhile, instead of the usual ugly, laughable crap. I might actually turn out to be a productive member of the community after all... Congratulations! For your next project, you get to build some teeny tiny sculpty microbes to go with your microscope!  Or maybe script the thing so when it's touched, a new screen pops up showing what your avatar "sees" through the microscope. There could be a random factor in that...most times, you'd get a paramecium or amoeba, but once in a while a pic of Harrison Ford or something... I saw a telescope at SL5B that worked like that. You looked through it and got a tour of the Solar System. _____________________

It's always interesting to me when AM is mentioned in that slightly reverential way. Not that his work doesn't deserve it, but I semi-knew him during his early SLU adventures...he was just this amusing new guy with a funny hat who one of my friends brought to the island where a bunch of us lived. You'd find him loitering in the square fairly often, but I never saw anything then that hinted at his amazing imagination and talent.

I've been wondering what to do to make it "work" It could have a script that gives you a picture of something when you touch it. Brilliant! It still needs some texturing work (a lot), because nobody wants a plywood microscope, but It shouldn't be too big a deal to get it textured. _____________________
